I am sorry, but anybody who says that the game is better WITHOUT a gamepad is either a masoquist or has some serious "put the lotion in the basket" issues
The game was designed for using a gamepad, specifically the PS3 gamepad and it works flawlessly with it; I even tried the Xbox gamepad con my PC and it isn't as good.
Oh and saying that Demons Souls doesn't have atmosphere compared to Dark Souls should try Latria first; while some of the other levels have a counterpart with Dark Sous (Valley of Defilment/Blighttown) Latria is quite unique and an example of the quality of From Software

I think the issue is that if you are not experienced with the gamepad (never play console games), the familiarity of the Kb+m controls trumps the advantages of the controller. If you are good with a control pad though, I definitely agree.

I'm just used to being able to freely look around and turn, but on PS3 that's pointless because everything is a shitty jagged blur. DeS feels more like a platformer with different "worlds" to me. That stonefang tunnel level is honestly making me wanna stop this shit.

Anyway, Dark Souls feels like the game designers matured (although dumbed down the stats). Not being able to warp between levels for half of the game was probably their best design decision. ALSO, Dark Souls is so fucking subtle in its "story" and "lore" that Demon Souls feels like shitty juvenile JRPG crap with its nexus and giant loading sceens with badass important characters. The shitty woman in black. Oh watever... At least I can't carry around 1000000 heavy armor sets.

So I picked up DeS as my first ever PS3 game. I like the stat system much more - endurance/vitality actually matters and souls are even tougher to get. World/atmosphere is lacking though. Actual level design seems fine but the whole teleport to nexus and back between World 1-1, 1-2, etc is really breaking the flow and makes it too consoletard-y for me. ALSO, the PS3 controller is a nightmare compared to KB/Mouse...
Since when endurance and vitality didn't mattered in DS? Most important stat for all type of characters is Endurance followed by some essential points to vitality(How much you raise it varries with your playstyle though).

DeS doesn't let you carry infinite amount of gear (governed by VIT), everything has weight and the system is much more harsh in terms of equip load.

Why? What?

If you go to New Londo ruins, you'll find ghosts that kill you. You most likely will encounter a dead-end unless your feeling homicidal, in which case you will eventually find the church.

If you go to the Catacombs, you get to experience miserable death and a fairly nasty dead end if you somehow manage to get past all the skeletons (as a new player). A new player going to the Tomb of the Giants and resting at any bonfire there is in for a world of butthurt.

It quickly becomes clear to just take the stairs with the easy enemies. If someone is too retarded to figure this all out then they deserve the frustration.
Finding the Giant Taurus deamon for the key of the depths was the only thing that was hard to find. I had to look for a walkthrough to find the way to the bottom bell.(I didn't had master key like most players)

Dude, after playing shit like Thief, DS becomes easy as shit in terms of secrets and exploration; especially with giant fog doors and glinting loot.

Only fags spend points in Vitality.
Have fun getting one shotted by every enemy on later levels. Oh and traps that kills you instantly are lots of fun too.
Bullshit, I've beated the game many times without spending a single point in Vitality. Apart from stuff like direct hits from Black Knights with Two-Handed Swords, almost nothing in the game one-shots you.

You know that you can skip depths and go from firelink directly to blightown, right?

Yes and no. Sure you had a total gear limit, I never found it to restrain me at all. I had plenty of room for the gear I would reasonably want to use. And in terms of your actual equipped gear, DkS is harsher in some ways - in DeS all you need to do is get one ounce under half your limit and you can fast roll in full plate.

It says right there - didn't have master key. You need to get the key from the Blighttown entrance to open the New Londo gate. So that means going through darkroot into drake valley.

Maybe later on, but starting out with reasonable points in both VIT/END still limits you greatly if you wear heavy plate/shield.

Then i respect your patience and concentration.:salute:

It's certainly possible but it's a way to make the game a lot harder than it actually is. I personally prefer to raise it to 15-20 range even if i'm gonna play as a spellcaster/walking tank character just to be on the safe side.

Btw: Most of the enemies can break your poise btw. So for people with 0 poise getting hit would certainly mean death with fast enemies. (Not to mention slower giant enemies that damages a lot in one hit)

Wouldn't the extra healing of the upgraded Estus Flasks go to waste if you don't invest in HP?

I am still looking forward to how the whole merging of agility and dexterity will work for DS2 although I agree that resistance was an useless stat, plus really intrigued with the removal of the luck stat from Demons and the Humanity counte from Dark just which be the system for item finding

Hopefully it's not random at all. I can't think of a single random drop in these games that couldn't have been cooler to find stashed away in some secret location. There are always TONS of hard to reach places in these games with no reward at all, or a reward that is utterly worthless.
