Just try to get summoned. If you manage to help a bro finish O&S, you will regain your humanity. (This is exactly what happened to me on my 1st playthrough -- I got invaded, lost my last humanity, got summoned, helped beat O&S, and then summoned another bro. The location is ripe with invaders so we had to fight our way through to O&S which was doubly satisfying.)

edit: WAIT. I didn't get your post. You can always get summoned, even if you're hollowed. You need to be human in order to summon and / or get invaded.

OOOOH, okay then, excellent! I also don't get how I can't summon someone who's 10% higher/lower in SL than me, yet I can get invaded by higher leveled guys.

Also, how do I upgrade my weapon from +5 until +10? I'm lucky to have a +10 spear from a drop, but I want to upgrade my Falchion to +10, so as to be able to forge that Item with the Spider-bitch-queen soul in it.

Sorry, I meant the Peculiar Doll, as if I was somehow supposed to guess how to grab that on my first playthrough. You're not trying to make me go all the way back to that painting, only to yell at the screen afterwards because of me not being able to enter it, are you?

You need the large ember(Depths,near the butcher)and give it to Andre.
If you are still trying to get some humanity the painting guardians I mentioned are the ones just outside the painting,not inside,although checking a couple of wikis I saw no mention of them dropping 'liquid' humanity(as in your humanity counter goes up but you don't get the consumable) so,yeah,I might be wrong there since it's been a while.

Edit:nvm,yes you can farm them for humanity,found it:

In some areas, before the boss is defeated, certain enemies will increase your humanity count after many of them are killed. These enemies usually have one thing in common; they were once human, but are now undead and hollow. After a set number of an enemy type is killed, one humanity will be absorbed. Some enemies require fewer kills than others, as they have different values of 'humanity worth'.

• A total of 10 humanities can be absorbed in one area while the boss is still alive.
• The first humanity drops when the 'humanity worth' meter is built up to 100, the next drops at 105, third at 110 -- and the tenth drops at 300 (+200%).
  • As an example: For a creature with a 'humanity worth' of 6, you have to kill 17 for the first humanity, 18 for the second, 19 for the third -- and finally, 50 kills for the tenth and last humanity drop.
• The increase in percentages for the consecutive drops are the same in all areas, and are listed in the table below

• Painting Guardians - 6

Note: The boss(es) do not have to be alive to farm Painting Guardians.

I'm actually thinking of going for a new build, with the greatsword in mind (since it seem to be really fucking good in pve), and trying a Berserk-esque build. How feasible is my plan? Vit+end+str sounds pretty clean/feasible, and I imagine there are plenty of good greatswords ingame.

Hah, that's nothing. I have put 96 hours into it, and I started at most . . 3 months ago. My saves were at one point lost in a dead hard drive, and that did nothing to stop my enthusiasm. To me that's pretty amazing.

+15. but be sure to get at least a weapon with chaos (better than fire but it requires 10 humanity to truly shine) and/or lightning as backup. find one you enjoy but don't have the stats to use at full potential (f.e. a halberd. or a dex weapon like murakumo if you're going mostly for Str)

If you want to rip shit with big single-type damage in NG you can get the large/great club or manserpent great sword and get strength to 27 (so that when you two-hand it for the 1.5x strength bonus, it raises to the soft scaling cap of 40). Getting near the same damage with dex/quality weapons takes another 25-40 or so soul levels. The trouble with strength weapons is that in PvP they're good for very little but backstab tactics (which will still let you beat 90% of people that are playing DS1 at this point - they're borderline useless against even a mediocre spear/estoc turtle though) but in PvE they're a nice bargain.

on PC it used to be the first bonfire in Oolacile (Township). on PS3 (and possibly xcocks) Undead Burg, Painted World and some used to host 0-poise PvP at demon ruins/izalith (at the bonfire before the centipede or where the chaos servant shortcut is, i don't remember). and (dark) Anal London could still see some action. oh, and FUCK GFWL for being such a piece of shit (cannot play online for 5-6 months now )

Gough is a big dick G, Artorias is a boy scout, Ornstein is a pikachu and Ciarian is a hot lady warrior who don't need no man. I think the choice is obvious here.

Artorias and Ornstein are in two of the best 3-4 boss fights in the game, and Gough lets you fight the other competition for best boss. Ciaran croaks pining at Artorias' grave and leaves behind a ring that makes the standout worst mechanic in DS1 even worse.

Also if you have any friends on gfwl there's the cfix. (connection fix.) It prioritizes friends for a connection, but otherwise is of no help.
