Nah, i don't have something to prove, i just need more challenge to make the game more entertaining for me. I'll probably just do what i said. Use this CheatEngine thing outside of steam and keep the latter clean of shenanigans. You really never know.

You could also impose a non NG+ challenge to up the ante. Here's one, you can only level a single point per boss you kill.

Things like using no armor, no shield, no rings are obvious choices one can make as well. For starters, I suggest avoiding the ring of FAP.

No bow, no magic should be easy but entertaining.

For a weird experience: Equip load always 71 %+ and fighting always two-handed ;)

So I'm thinking of respeccing into a faith warrior. What are the best faith/lightning weapons ? I DON'T want fucking greatswords or straight/long swords anymore. From a quick glance it seems that Dragonslayer Spear and Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe seem p.good. I'm also sweet looking at Black Knight Halberd and Mastodon Halberd, but aren't those better without infusion ? I'd prefer to have lightning on my weapon to be a lightning warrior with sunlight blade and shit.

i'd consider giving a "permaGravelorded run" a try over a NG+ one. imho, the added Black Phantoms almost everywhere provide a much greater and a significantly more interesting challenge than the simple HP/Dmg++ from NG+ since this way you get new enemies at new positions, and knowing where each enemy is is already half the battle (if not more)

I'm assuming you're talking about DS 2?

BKH is beastly no matter what, but it's sweet spot is a pain in the ass. the black knight weapons infuse differently than other pre-split weapons.

Mastodon has amazing STR scaling so it's best to keep it uninfused if you have high STR, but even then in pure AR it will probably be higher when infused with lightning --- but damage output will suffer despite the boost in AR.

Are you looking for fast weapons or big heavy weapons? Ornstein's spear is beastly damage + counter and has ridiculous range. You could also try one of the Heide weapons (lance, greatlance, or spear since you don't want straight swords). The new curved sword (Elium Loyce) seems to have pretty good infusion stats, 250 base ar + E/S/B scaling. Red Rust Scim is also p good for infusion since it's only C/E str/dex scaling.

Personally I'm a phys only type of guy as at the 40mil sm level elemental damage is pointless. For my lowbies tho I found high success with elemental poke weapons (rapier, spear) and especially when paired with high counter (leo ring <3)

For those who dont want to open the tumblr link,

We are very excited to announce that next month it will be possible for players to migrate their Dark Souls: Prepare to Die games, saves and achievements from the Games for Windows Live platform to Steam.

  • Games for Windows Live users will be able to redeem their Games for Windows Live Tokens on Steam to get Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition at no additional cost. (To find your Games for Windows Live Token, please head to the support webpage.)
  • In the month of November, there will be a period by which Games for Windows Live Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition users will be able to transfer their Save Data (characters + progress) and Achievements over to their Steam accounts.
  • Players will still be able to use their Games for Windows Live Tokens to redeem the Steam version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition at no additional cost even after the migration period ends; but game Save Data and Achievements transfer functions may not be available.
  • Games for Windows Live Rankings will not be transferred to Steam.
The specific migration start and end dates will be available soon; however the migration period will begin sometime in November 2014 with more specific dates to come.

We will be sharing more information soon regarding the migration process soon, so stay tuned!

Is this gonna brake DSfix? Hope the guy who made that mod is still around.

Of course, it would be great if From could patch this fucking thing to make it actually PC complaint, but i guess i shouldn't be holding my breath on that one.

I finally invested some time in this game. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I have managed to kill the Tarsus Demon.

So yeah. Cool story bro.

Try to get the most out of your first play. Once you master the game it isn't as intense anymore, but my first play through was one of the most fun single player experiences i've had in a while.

The first time I got parried and reposted by an enemy was almost a wow moment. Oh... they can do that too.

This Bell Gargoyle is one tough sob.

After killing the Gargoyles for the first time I felt "OK, man, that was something! I'm sth like halfway through the game, right?"

With the next char I beat them about an hour in ;)

You can make a lot of boss fights trivial if you summon NPCs (or human PCs for that matter, though i haven't seen many in either of my games) but i'd recommend try them solo first. Solaire in particular is one tough bastard. The only time where i simply couldn't do without his help was with Ornstein and Smough. Fighting two bosses at once confused the fuck out of me, couldn't get any rhythm going, particularly since you have to kill Smough first to get the better drops. You have to try to flank the fatso while Ornstein turns you into a pin cushion. Hardly what i would consider fair.

The O+S fight is particularly good, and I would suggest that perhaps you should keep a save file of it to dick around with.

It really taught me how the AI works in the game and allowed me to experience the 'metagame' a lot more. Manipulating distance with the individual bosses to trigger a different aggro state, as well as learning what exactly a safe window is.

Solaire helps A LOT but primarily as a meat shield to take one of them off of your ass. Otherwise, you have to use the pillars to truly separate them during attack states so you can avoid/punish an attack from one of them.

Oddly, this is also when retardo yolo strats work very well. If you can set it up to be in red-tear-stone range and with powerwithin, you can quickly annihilate ornstein after his first attack on you assuming he ditches smough with a rush (and you dodge behind a pillar to give a bit more time before smough comes around). Things like Great Fire Ball or 2-3 hits from a strong weapon can do the trick (black knight weapon, for example).

Still, that fight and the Manus fight taught me the most about "dealing with the game."

Killed the gargoyles solo :sunglasses:

I'm not sure how often I could do it though. A few of my deaths it just seemed like there was fire everywhere and nothing I could do. Then the time I won, it seemed relatively easy.

Church bell = rung
