Balder Side sword is truly one of the best weapons, great for PVP and PVE both. Its drop rate absolutely sucks though.

Something funny - got myself summoned in Undead Burg several times and in one of Taurus demon fights he just jumped off the ledge while trying to reposition when me and summoner were standing from both sides of him. Never seen that shit happen either. I guess I truly hadn't seen everything this game has to offer yet. Btw if anyone want's to pvp or get each other summoned, add me on steam.

No one uses the items that give blue invasions more targets because people don't want to seem butthurt when they get invaded, so the only people you'll ever blue invade are newbies that don't know about sin from switching factions. And since killing them once or twice will clear their sin, that's all you'll get until more newbies come through.

yeah, in the early days on PS3 (something like the first 6 months, if not more) everybody was using the indictments after every invasion, but later on (since plenty of dickwraiths were enjoying trolling and whatnot and were priding themselves on the amount of indictments... which is perfectly normal but... people) it became a "honour" thing and only good fights were good enough for indictments, effectively stifling a whole covenant (still, there were enough people with quite a bit of indictments even much later 'cause i never really had trouble invading as a blue on PS3, and i never really tried much on PC)

Can anybody explain to me how Anor Londo works? I've manged to invade in there two times, and both times i didn't see anymore, second time the guy canceled on me since i couldn't find him. Where do the invaded spawn?

I guess i'll have to get into weapon upgrading before i get to Blighttown. I'm still trying to figure out the mechanic. But i already know i'm going to fuck up my character anyway. Every time i play an RPG without respect option i resign myself to knowing i will probably have to start my character over at some point.
When my 1st char went to Blighttown, Res was his second highest stat :salute:

I think it's just an easy place to hide in if they've been clearing the Silver Knights out.

So what they do, just hide and avoid combat? What's the point of that, you are just wasting your own time.

As soon as i'm done with the Archives i'll move to the additional content and try the orb in Township, which i hear is a very popular spot. If that fails i'll just take this guy to NG+ and reroll to make a Darkwraith.

IDK, I could just swear back when I was playing DS on my cousin's PS3 that I saw people running away constantly. Maybe looking for summons to help? That was a pretty notorious place for ganking.

At least twice I invaded someone who was at the highest floor of the main hall, up above the Sentinels.

Apart from that -- usually the bridge.

I got two invasions in the Archives. Both times i couldn't find the dudes, and they both ended up suiciding themselves, or at least i think that's what happened since i got a victory in both cases. Unless in their rush to get away they both felt into their death. :retarded:

I have a feeling From didn't think this through, or maybe it didn't occur to them that people would be stupid enough to try to avoid fighting.

If you want a nice faith based weapon that doesn't need buffing, try the crescent axe. It drops from patches below the catacombs, or you can buy it somewhere I think? (I always kill the fucker.) The damage is quite decent for PvP, at least until you go to the DLC content where everything has stupid high defense and the splitdamage is too weak. But where it really shines is the range and poise damage. It has the moveset of a onehanded axe, which includes some really nice horizontal sweeping attacks, and it can stunlock pretty much anything unto death if you two hand it, which is a very satisfying playstyle, since it's more reliant on timing and dodging than just oneshotting things with some giant sword or playing the block/counter/backstab game with a shield.

I'm also really fond of the Blacksmith Giant's Hammer, but thats more for a vit/pyro build, since it requires only 16 str to one hand and puts out a very respectable 300 lightning damage when fully upgraded, with no scaling of any sort.

Hiding from invaders / hosts can be pretty entertaining..

Also, I get the impression that From designed pve as the main event, and pvp as a complementary mechanic to make the game as brutal as possible for new players.

Meh, invasions are sporadic everywhere i go, but doesn't matter since upgrading Darkmoon buff isn't a priority at this point. Just happy i got enough kills to get the first rank. The rest is just gravy.

So basically i'm almost done with the game. I gave the last boss a spin before moving to the DLC. Pretty fun fight actually, i liked that he wasn't this huge humongous monster, where for the most part i'm flailing randomly because i don't know where the fuck i am and what the fuck is happening.

So i used a backup save to backtrack a little and now i'm going through the DLC. Like it so far. Stone giants are pretty challenging and the fight with Artorias was pretty cool. Two more areas and i'm now done with game. Total hours played: 130, 60 the first time and 70 on this play through. Pretty impressive i must say, even though at this point i'm fucking sick of this game. As soon as i'm done i'll shelve it for another time.

Next steps:

1. Buy Dark Souls 2 with DLCs on a sale.
2. Go in thinking you're a boss because you finished first game, join the increased difficulty covenant.
3. Get rekt.
4. Complain about artificial difficulty on forums.
5. Keep playing, reach 500 deaths on first playthrough.

You will see.

You'll come back.

I already have several plays planned out. One, taking this character to NG+ without any starting equipment, taking with me only slabs since they are so rare. Two, starting with a deprived and fagplay as Knight of Artorias. And lastly pure magic build. But all in due time.

Just killed Manu, so basically i'm now done. Gud game, too bad for the lackluster pvp system.

Protip for when you try DS2: Try starting as deprived. I wish I had done this, would have made me appreciate a lot of the low level shit more. Finding a totally mundane longsword or bow or whatever becomes a lot more interesting if you don't have any particular stat inclination or gear to start with. Usually it's just 'meh, I don't need that because I'm not an archer/knight/wizard' or 'I already have a sword/bow/spell'.

Long swords are anything but mundane. They have an exquisite move set and are a good medium weapon. The idea of starting as a deprived is interesting but the point of it is made void with good gear being available so soon and so easily. Hell, even the club you get at the beginning is a good weapon, and probably the most n00b friendly one. No combos, and strong attack does a leap attack, which is handy to someone who hasn't learned how to do it with a regular weapon yet. And five minutes into the game you can buy the chain armor which is one of the best lightweight armors in the game, mainly because it has poise. Coupled with the Wolf Ring, you can have fast roll and still be able to handle strong attacks.

But then, this is the beauty of this game because there really isn't a weak weapon or armor. It is all about style. Which i'm ok with. What i would have liked is the ability to start NG+ with a fresh character instead of your old one.

You can use cheat engine to do that, and I'm told it's not terribly difficult. You only need to use it once to start off, then once you create the save (it auto saves) you can just continue with it.

Won't that get me in trouble though? I mean, it doesn't seem like anybody gives a shit, but you know, maybe the one time they do they gonna go after me or something.

Actually, what i could probably do is make another installation of the game for offline shenanigans only and keep my steam version safe on the side.

That's how speed runners do it, and yeah you'd be doing it offline initially. If they were to actively moniter you then they could probably see that your game state and 'run time'/stats don't match... but my guess is no one gives as hit about DS1 given how much cheating is taking place in DS2 and nothing is being done about it.

Conversely, ultra challenge run, do not level or pick up any items other than starting shit and speed run through game. Once you get the hang of 'certain tricks' it becomes quite easy. You could also use all your souls on a pyro glove, up it to ascended +5, use that to blast bosses as you rage through, then discard it and your souls after looping to ng+1.

Theoretically yes, Steam can ban you for that ... of course theoretically they can ban you because you are breathing.

Considering how rampart cheating is on multiplayer it doesnt seen they will actually do anything, I suppose its up to developers to actually do something about as Valve wont outside their own games, too much of a hassle I guess.
