Should I get DS for PC or PS3?

Is the PC version comparable to the PS3 even after fixes?

PC with the DSfix patch is miles and miles better. You can play with the settings to get it to run on whatever and enjoy things like Blighttown not being 10 fps as it is on PS3.

Would commit murder for a DSfixed Demon's Souls for PC. Fuck. You know they could price that at thirty bucks on Steam and sell a couple hundred thousand copies for a sloppy 6-year-old port Durante would fix up.

Yeah, PC version it is.

Doesn't really matter tho. Not like it's that expensive so I can get it for PS3 later if I really want to.
It's not expensive because what they had the balls to release on Steam is an unplayable, broken piece of shit and under no circumstances you should feel obliged to pay for it.
Unplayable?
You're probably suffering from amnesia, because their port was miles better than whatever crap was released by Crapcom for PC during 2004-2007.
I still remember the borked graphics in RE4, slowdowns in Onimusha 3 and the nightmare of configuring DMC3. And there was one thing that all of these ports had in common - borked and crappy control schemes, which were close to impossible to re-bind properly (especially in Onimusha 3).

By unplayable I mean Prepare to Die edition was upon installation literally unplayable without any 3rd party fix. Inverted camera speed for mouse control, shit fucking horrible controls that didn't work properly, insanely demanding on hardware. I couldn't run it because I got like 3 FPS and couldn't control the game properly with the vanilla installation. I don't know what Capcom released cuz I don't play their shit.

I have to agree that DS was close to unplayable without DSFix and I had FPS issues until I realized I could set up the fps cap.
Before that I had to play the game with a 15 fps limit and 8 fps in lagtown. Unlocking fps didn't improve the situation much, since my GPU sucks and constant jumps of FPS made the precise controls impossible.

I finished for the first time DS with kb+m without DSfix playing offline on Geforce 8600M and 3 gb ram. It was far from unplayable(e.g.Gothic3 on launch day) you fucking casuals:M

Bought this game about six months ago and I tried it but I couldn't really get into it (was using KB/M). A few days ago I found one of these old controllers in my house and it turns out it is compatible with this game. Started up again and damn this game is fun. Just going around and killing shit hasn't been this much fun in a while. Tons of deaths and at times it is frustrating but frustrating in a good way. I remember playing TW2 and half the times I died I felt like completely cheated (i.e Geralt doing something completely retarded or just getting stuck on some shit) but not with this game.

Have reached the twin gargoyle fight on the roof (after an embarrassing number of runs to kill the Taurus boss). That fight doesn't actually seem too hard. I think I shouldn't use the lock on for it because when the gargoyles jump in the air it pretty much just spins the screen around and it becomes hard to orient yourself.

Yeah, it's one of the easiest fights in the game.
Wait until you get to Ornstein & Smough, you fucking peasant, just wait for it.

the Taurus demon was a nightmare for me for some reason but he just jumped off the wall and died at some point, kekeke.
I think for the dual bosses you shouldn't be ashamed to summon an NPC, they are annoying more than fun.

pfft I beat it on the first try with the summon, lolol

With the summon? As in you asked someone to help you? Pfft, I guess your summon did all of the job for you. Have you tried to beat them with heavy input lag and 15 FPS?

Solaire? You mean that guy with a sun on his shield? I always killed him + always stayed in the undead form.

Yes. If you watch some lore videos (or are insane enough to find out on your own) you'll learn some cool stuff about him.

WHAT

Why would you kill Solaire? Why would you do that? What is wrong with you?

Please tell me you don't kill Siegmeyer too.

I prefer to find out on my own, but the last time I played DS was a while ago, so I don't remember shit.

Him too.
Also wanted to kill that fat dork around the Firelink Shrine for acting like a total ass, but never got around to do that.

This game got easier before taking a sharp turn and becoming hilariously hard again. After the Gargoyles I spent a good chunk of time lost but eventually got the 2nd bell.

I'm at Sen's Fortress and just getting destroyed. I seriously need to upgrade this Drake Sword because it takes like 7 hits to kill these Lizardmen. Not sure what to go with though. The boss fights have remained entertaining even if some of them went down easily. Got the Capra Demon and Queelag on my first try which was nice. Although the only reason I got the Capra Demon that easily was because when I was determining whether I should buy this game or not I watched some gameplay on youtube and it was some guy doing lower undead burg. Had I not known what to do I could imagine that fight taking a while.

Get rid of the Drake Sword and find a proper weapon. This thing will give you a very hard time to upgrade as it needs dragon scales for it.

Any of the black knight weapons are awesome, but they are random drops. Also, the (Chanellor's?) trident that the demon thing with the tail just outside the Gargoyle blacksmith occasionally drops is a really good early game weapon with low stats (but, again, a random drop).

If you can't get drops, if you're a Str build Zweihander can be had right at the start of the game.

If you are a dex build, you can mine the balder guys in the Gargoyle cathedral for a Balder Side Arm. Will take forever without humanity, but should go quicker if you have 10-30 humanity.

As a general Sen's Fortress tip, though, it's WAY easier just to run past the Lizard men. Killing each one on your first time through (i.e. without a fully upgraded weapon) is tedious and unnecessary. There are really only 2 or 3 that you need to kill (i.e. the one's that absolutely block your path). Most don't really block your path, even if they look like they do, though. Even the one's that are on the narrow walkways can be sidestepped easily and if they chase you they will usually get knocked off by the swinging blades.

This. Seriously, just try an axe or a mace or something. Stunlock lets you rape most enemies pve. Large swords can be decent as well if you two hand them and have plenty of stamina.

I ditched the Drake Sword. Was wondering why when I upgraded my strength that the 200 next to R1 wasn't increasing but I now understand that the drake sword's strength doesn't increase.

I got Zweihander and I've upgraded it sufficiently. It's definitely helping. Not a fan of the greatsword (much preferred using the long sword or whatever the drake sword is considered) but right now I don't have much choice. Sen's isn't too bad once you figure it out. Just a matter of killing the boss now.

Zweihander 2h R2 nearly breaks the game. Don't even need to evade, just judge the distance correctly and pummel away. Also, the roll attack for 2h Zweihander is really good against bosses - good range, pretty fast for such a heavy weapon, and decent damage as well.

My last run was p. ez and bland. I found the Black Knight Greatsword and breezed through the game.

Ya with Zwei I was capable of taking down the Iron Golem without too much trouble. Pretty much only use the R2 with it as well.

Iron Golem (and Sen's Fortress in general) would have been much more annoying had some guy not written a hint that a bonfire was right before the boss. That guy is a real bro.

Iron Golem is widely regarded as being a trivial boss in the first place.

It's less about the Iron Golem and more about not having to navigate Sen's Fortress every time I die.
