To buy a PS4 or wait for a Bloodborne PC port. Can I wait a few years for possibly naught?

While I would say Bloodborne is by far my favorite of the series, largely in part to the ridiculously fast paced combat (imagine the dashing/sidestepping of God Hand or Bayonetta injected into Dark Souls), wait for a port or borrow a PS4. Luckily for me, my neighbor happens to have one.

I find that kind of confusing, to be honest. For one, injecting the extremely powerful defensive tools from Bayo/DMC/God Hand into Souls would make for a very easy game without major changes to enemy behaviour and encounter design, and I also don't think it would be a good idea - might as well play Ninja Gaiden for a superior experience. Secondly, I've seen some Bloodborne gameplay videos, and it looks pretty much like the previous Souls games, maybe slightly faster due to the dodge move costing so little Stamina, but nowhere near "ridiculously fast paced".

You're forgetting that most enemies in the Souls games are tanks in that they hit hard but move very slowly. The reason why I use the adjective desperate to describe Bloodborne's combat is because most enemies here are very tenacious and quick. This results in some beautiful PVP where those slow ass fat-dude rolls are replaced with more graceful dodges as seen in Platinum's games.

Needless to say I've had much more interesting/fun/intense/longer duels here than in any of the Souls games.

Funnily, a lot of the complaints about DaS2 encounter design had to do with being gangbanged by groups of aggressive enemies. But I guess when Lord Miyazaki does it, it is a genius innovation and makes the game much better. Furthermore, the very first time I watched Bloodborne gameplay on Youtube, the first enemy fought was a carbon copy of those large mummies from Lost Bastille, moveset-wise. So let's just say I'm skeptical about all this.

Then again, I haven't actually played the game, so it would be a pretty dumbfuck move to argue with someone who has. In a year or two, whenever I decide that a used PS4 is a worthwhile investment, I'll see for myself and we can revisit this discussion.

Awesome. I'm sure you'll love the combat. My only gripe is that some of the bosses have (pretty much) insta-kill grapple moves.

Demon's Souls combat is a little more fast paced than Das/Das2, so I think you will enjoy that if you get the chance to play it. It also has the best setting in the series IMO.

Played and loved Demons' Souls. While I still prefer Dark Souls over it, Demons had greater variety and more replayability because of the freedom they give you to tackle the levels.

If I had to rank the games:

God Tier: Crown of the Old Iron King>Bloodborne
Great Tier: Dark Souls=Demons Souls=Crown Ivory King
Good for what it is tier: Crown of the Sunken King=Dark Souls 2

That's not even especially difficult, unless you also mean no upgrades. Pyro, rtsr and power within just make things die faster, most of the difficulty of an SL1 comes from having low stamina, health, and physical defenses.

1. Use DSFix.
2. Use the mouse fix if you're playing on KBM.
3. Be patient, observant, and think about what you're doing.

I'm actually doing alright, so far. Just killed Queelag and I'm farming souls for that crest to open the door in the Darkroot Garden (yeah, I know about the waterfall shortcut ladder, but it is a pain in the ass).

I am using a gamepad. I bought DS for PC years ago, but it was such a goddamn mess upon release I only tried it half-heartedly a few times. Since then they've fixed a lot of problems with it, so I fired it up again a few weeks ago when I was home from work, recovering from an injury. I thought, "I have plenty of time and nothing to do, and also I'm on painkillers, fuck it!" I have a good gamepad for playing old SNES games, so this is working just fine.

Right now I'm doing the pretty standard first-timer playthrough -- sword and board, Elite Knight Armor, Claymore up to +6, Grass Crest Shield, Wolf Ring, Havel's ring, etc. I have so far refused to cheese anything -- I killed Havel by parrying him, killed Queelag on my own without summoning Mildred, etc. In fact, I haven't summoned anyone to help with any boss fights.

I do have a question though. I finally got a Black Knight sword, but I need a few points in Dex to make it usuable. The base damage is something like 220, should I put some points in Dex to use it over my Claymore? The one thing that remains confusing in this game is weapons. I mean, I get how stats modify damage depending on that stupid letter rating (A through S) but I still find it somewhat mystifying.

Also, I have found that there is a lot of bad advice on the internet on how to play this game. I remember a few years ago reading some beginners guide, and the guy was like "Use a rapier and learn to parry!" Uhh, horrible advice for beginners, IMO. A good, strong shield and some decent armor appear to go a long way for getting your footing.

Edit: Is it true what they say, that it is not worth upgrading armor?
