What's that armor in the bottom left? I'm guessing it's the throne watcher but I'm unsure.
EDIT: Crap I meant to say throne defender but I got them mixed up.

Soul Memory is a fucked up concept and I was thinking that starting NG+ will set me free from this bullshit but ... I found out that Soul Memory works the same in NG+.

Is NG+ worth the effort? Are the NPCs doing something different? Any ideas?

It's much more challenging (usually hp bloat; but also some boss fights change by including additional enemies) + fatter loot.

Soul Memory apparently stops mattering after 15mil; after that it has no upwards cap.

Also, farming bonfire ascetics in the dark-portal place is pretty viable. If I have my 3 drop item pieces of gear on I was getting 1 bonfire ascetic at the least and sometimes 2. Of the 15 runs I did (until they stopped spawning) only 3 times did none drop a bonfire ascetic. Haven't tried resetting it by burning one yet, but 1 human effigy for potentially 1-2 bonfire ascetics is definitely worth (especially since plenty of areas can give you multiple human effigies from respawning items by burning one).

There's probably an optimal way of doing this I haven't calculated yet, but the pieces are definitely there.

Treading water, but at least it's warm
Real question: I totally forgot this, but when you first get to Sinner's Rise you can hear and see a dragon off in the distance. Can you fight that thing in Lost Bastille or is that just LOL REMEMBER THE BRIDGE FROM DS1!?

I believe it is actually a gargoyle and it only shows up if you havent beaten the gargoyles in the luna belfry. Kind of an obscure hint, since if you beat the gargoyles you can get light for the lost sinner fight iirc.

In subsequent replays I paid attention and saw it was indeed a gargoyle. In that sense, you're right, it is a neat little hint that "There's something over there; go check it out."

I got to the shrine of Amana and I have to say I enjoyed the trolling at the beginning but now I'd like to progress :D I thought 'hey, this is exactly what the Looking Glass Shield (or whatever it's called) is for!' But it's not. To really deflect a spell you need to use L2 which is extremely slow and, if works, doesn't make the spell go back and hit the shooter (which I'd expect if the line of shot was straight and the angle was right), it just hits the ground.

So I'd like to use some poison arrows because I'm now bored with using 4 arrows to kill each monk. But Gavlan still hasn't appeared outside No Man's Wharf and so I can't buy them. Goddamnit.

you don't need effigies after you kill Darklurker ;)

I'm probably super late to the party and it's probably widespread knowledge by now but... I just discovered how to never go hollow or loose souls: you have to equip Ring of Life that nullifies death (you don't loose souls or go hollow) but breaks. Yes, it breaks, not vanishes, which means that you can repair it at Majula for 3000 souls. So basically death costs you only 3000 souls and a round trip to majula. :retarded:

Yea, forfeiting a valuable ring slot is what it's about. It makes things like difficult platforming and other short-term but extreme risk bits much more manageable, but you don't exactly want to rely on it because most of the time you get far more benefit from having all your ring slots pack power for you.

when doing dumb shit with RTSR i'll opt to go hollow for lower HP and easier hyper-mode setup. i'll even use the ritual ring that lowers hp. I did it for rotten since the fugg one-shotted my sl1 duder anyway.

I do agree tho, that the rings pretty much nullify the "threat" of being hollow (and now there's even more slots)

looking glass knight cheats with his stupid overhead smash attack =(

And apparently you can stop his summoning if you pelt him enough; fire whip + 3 hits did it

on the topic of sl1; the real challenge is in realizing that you have no idea wtf your iframes are, and so you crap shoot everytime you roll into a hit. the real challenge is basically entirely from the lack of agility (and that nearly all bosses 1 or 2 shot you)

still, not bad. got to shrine of amana. time to cry.

I just recently realized that boss weapons upgrade by 30%, not 10%, per level. Which means they actually get larger boosts from their base stats than normal weapons. Makes a lot of them look pretty appealing. Currently trying out the great dragon curved sword. The R2 attack is really nice for crowds.

Also, melee damage increases exponentially now? Going from ~350 to ~400 changed my damage output from ~350 to ~550 per swing. Holy shit. I'm not even done upgrading the damned sword (petrified dragon bone is pretty rare, and I wanted to see the NG+ progression without ascetics.)

Hahaha of course you know I don't agree with the video but the ending was hilarious.

I was kind of disappointed with the looking glass knight. I was expecting more summons at once or something.

I thought he'd be bigger. Also, I couldn't manage to stop the summoning. Tried smashing the mirror with a large club, tried plinking it a bunch with ricard's, tried poise breaking the knight with the club or even darkstorm, nothing worked. I'm guessing maybe it's damage based?

I hate the DaS2 RNG loot drop with a passion, episode #562:

been farming the shadow doods for the last 2 days, got everything but the leggings. they just won't drop (but daggers, claws, tops and gauntlets drop like candy. i've discarded more than i can count). fuck this game
