I wouldn't say that elemental/magic is COMPLETELY useless in the DLCs...

Elemental damage from weapons still hits as hard as in the base game.

Elemental damage from spells is complete ass and is a waste of time. You're better off buffing a Rapier/Ice Rapier and counter-poking things to death.

The DLC's are still kicking my ass in general.

Not sure if they are hard or if its the easymode of the post-drangleic content that made me soft.

Which one in particular? I didn't find them bad at all. Save for the hedgehog fuckers in Ivory King dlc.

I discovered the Bone Fist over the weekend and have pretty much fallen in love. I have my doubts about it's practicality both as a PVE and PVP weapon but I honestly don't care. It makes me feel like a fuckin badass when I'm using it.

BAH, I have the "season pass" but only played Crown of the Sunken King. Are the other 2 crowns good? Any notable loot?

Crown of the Old Iron King is seen as the best of the bunch. It's pretty fun with plenty to do. Hint: If you start getting curse buildup, look around for the objects you've been driving those big-ass nails into.

Crown of the Ivory King is p. cool (hah!) from what I've played so far (third bonfire in first area), but I haven't seen everything just yet.

So they are an improvement? Because Sunken King kinda...SUNKED :troll:
Iron King has a good focus to its areas: it is mostly a big ol' tower you go up and down to advance in. The areas feel connected and part of a greater whole, and also original as opposed to Sunken King being 50% the same caves you've been through before.

I'm not that far into Ivory King yet, but from what I have seen so far it's been as white as a Klan rally.

dis is how u do it

In terms of 'notable' loot. Ivory king has one of the most OP weapons in the game; the ice rapier <3

^^^^^

Estus on Arena PvP = Old Video

Also, both players are ridiculously overleveled.

Sorry bro, but if you wanna be butthurt about Dark Souls 2 you will have to find an up-to-date reason...

Wot the fok did ye just say 2 me m8? i dropped out of newcastle primary skool im the sickest bloke ull ever meet & ive nicked ova 300 chocolate globbernaughts frum tha corner shop

But seriously m8, I was there. I was the quadro-buffed 838 masto helix monster. I was the dual invisible avelyn turtle destroyer. I was the resonant chaos blade havel mage.

Let an old man reminisce about the glory of the olden days... Nothing but 150 meta spinny longsword parry spammers in the arena these days... YOU CAN'T EVEN CHUG!

AH, THE HEXER META. Worse. Shit. Ever. Helix and invi-avelyns are manageable, but OH DEM GREAT RESONANT SOUL 1-SHOT-BULLSHIT-85%-BULLSHIT.

When the Hex-Nerf patch finally came I got addicted to reading butthurt hexers QQ and going through insane mental gymnastics to argue that their "I win" button was anything but utterly retarded shit. Good times man, good times.

And monastery scimitar parry spammers? Hold your Ultra-Great-Sword with both hands and smack them in the face. Repeatedly. Most parry-spamming scrubs never heard that some attacks can't be parried at all.

The best part of the vid is 1 minute in, where the havel runs up and just chugs at point blank. Fuck yer parry.

Also wtf at american dad in the background.

Will "Scholars" run okay on a i3 2100 & 550 Ti at 1280 x 1024?

That's the setup I used with DS1 and it played smoothly, even on Blighttown.

I'd prefer to get "Scholars" since that apparently has improvements in level design with was one of the biggest draws for me...
Don't care about the "HD Graphics" upgrades, so turning down the settings is fine.
If it works okay while looking about on par with DS1 it'll be fine :) for me.

Better question: is there any reason at all to buy scholars? Because re-releasing a 1-year-old game looks like a cash-grab move.

Do you have Dark Souls 2 with all expansions?

Then no.

Do you have Dark Souls 2 with no expansions?

Get the expansions instead.

Do you not have the game at all?

Then SotFS is a good buy.

Reasonable instance. Thanks for the advice.

Since I already have DaS2 + all exp, I guess I'm...

isn't the price of upgrade from DaS2 vanilla to DaS2 scholar the same as the season pass, or with very little difference?

On steam its exactly same price but there is no option to transfer saves from vanilla to scholar.

Scholar adds NO FUCKING NEW CONTENT? For realzies?!

afaik it's only one new armour set and 2 new weapons (and the corresponding new enemy), reshuffled item and enemy placement here and there, and new friendly phantoms and invaders (if they're the same quality as the ones in the DLCs than excellent, if not...). definitely not worth the price if you already have the DLCs. maybe worth it if you have only vanilla and don't mind starting again

Thanks to meanwhileInPoland for his answer.

I currently don't have Dark Souls 2 at all.
The reasons I'm interested in SotFS are:

People are saying enemy placement is better.
Changes to level design in the addition of new shortcuts.
Apparently better item placement to reward exploration.

Can anybody else comment about how it might run on my specs.
