SotFS is what you should go for if you don't have any version of Ds2, or if you don't have the dlc. I have no idea why anyone would say vanilla>sotfs.

There are some improved item placements, but the fucking fire longsword is still in the same place 5 minutes into the game. I can't really remember any new shortcuts, but they have moved a bonfire or two into much more reasonable places.

hey guys,

how do I force update my DS2 SOFTS on Steam to the latest version?

Mine start screen still shows Patch 1.02 / Calibration 2.02 which I think is outdated.
According to DS2 Fextralife, the latest should be Patch 1.15 / Calibration 2.02.

Thanks in advance.

Any particular questline for Sellsword Luet?
I summoned him for Last Giant fight. What do I need to do next with him?

Any particular special reward for defeating Pursuer on the first platform with the bomb-throwing skeleton?
I know that in vanilla DS2, there's no reward for defeating him there ...

You summon him some more. He helps you kill shit.

You get a ring of blades and pursuer soul!

What is the special significance in the lone knight guarding the King's Door?

Should I just leave him alone for the moment, or eliminate him? Any unique drops from defeating him or he's just an ordinary high-level knight?

It's a monster that looks like a high level knight. You'll see that now and again. Same enemy type and attacks, very obviously lower (or higher) attack power, hp... in some cases speed.

Just explore and try things out. The risk of dying or screwing it up is most of the enjoyment you can get out of these games anyway. Once you've done it to death, there's basically no point in playing unless you're into doing weird stuff in multiplayer.

Over 300 hours of gameplay logged in this and it still manages to continually pull me away from Witcher 3. The combat system has spoiled me. Everything else feels so shallow now...

Hey guys I'm some way through my first playthrough of DS2 vanilla. If I get the SotFS update can I use my existing character to play through the DLC or will I have to start from scratch?

Dark Souls 3 will be making its debut at this year’s E3, according to a report published today.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Bandai Namco will be announcing Dark Souls 3 at this year’s biggest gaming event, E3. It’s unknown as of now what platform will be used for the announcement, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the announcement becomes a part of Sony’s E3 presentation considering how much more popular the series is on its platforms, in addition to the popularity of Bloodborne.

The director of Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne, Hidetaka Miyazaki will once again be heading the team for Dark Souls 3.

What, that early already?

From what I can remember Bloodborne was announced around last year e3. Next Dark Souls could be released next year so that wouldn't be so surprising. Maybe after being bought they have now access to more resources.

Today I've tried to play DS2: SotFS for the first time. I've finished the vanilla DS2 last year.

And I've went straight to Heide's Tower ... well, I don't know about enemies placement but the new AI is cheating like crazy. And the fucking hitboxes are not fixed either. WTF From??

Do I have play the game again in order to access the DLCs or not?

hmmm i guess short cinematic trailer on e3 with release date around late 2016/early 2017. ds2 was revealed in December 2012 with premiere in march 2014.

i am not worried about short development time(probably around 2.5 year) i just hope this game has less fucked up production process than ds2 had. they can deliver good shit in short span of time like those 3 dlc for ds2 (about 6 months?) just dont change the whole game concept less than a year before release :M

fucking hitboxes

casul confirmed

Perhaps. I finished vanilla version but I simply cannot into DS2: SotFS.

I just finished an 8h session with the game. I had to rebind all the fucking keys and now it works.

Killed Sinner on first try and died a lot on the Sentinels. Because I'm an idiot I've burned a bonfire ascetic for the sinner boss and afterwards I got raped. NG+ is not for casuals. I will have to revisit this area sometime.

The mobs placement is better in SotFS and there are a couple of new characters. Once again I cannot decide between STR or DEX builds.

Well it's quite simply really, the formula for choosing whether STR or DEX is to replace the letters D, E, and X with F, A, and G and then conclude what option you want.

Well, what is it?

Basically, yes. A strength scaling of a certain number gets like 1.8x as much damage bonus as the dex scaling of that number. Dex weapons attack a bit faster, but usually not twice as fast, and usually have lower base damage too boot. Sadly, dex weapons seem a bit shite in comparison.

Sigh, I'll post seriously. Rapiers are OP and Katanas are OP and so is the Warped Sword. In terms of STR weapons, Craftsman's hammer or bandit/battle axe are OP (but with much less range than the rapiers or katanas.)

If you are doing PVE, any of those weapons will carry you through _the entire game_. If you are doing PVP, then go with a rapier if dex or an axe if str. If you want to spam run attacks like a limp dicked bastard, then go with the warped sword and 2h that shit.

High counter damage, never ever doubt how much of a difference that 120-150 counter rating can make.
