agreed. but dark souls is now namcos biggest franchise so it was rather obvious that they want to earn couple bucks on the side.

"its like skyrim, but more hardcore dude. you better get those shiny weapons" when in reality they will be drakesword level shit:M

Clearly DS2 is going to have some decline. I was always operating under the assumption that DS2 would be the last of this series that's worth getting. The question isn't "Is DS2 a piece of crap?" Because it won't be. The question is "How much worse is DS2 versus DS/DeS?" If it's only 4.79% worse, then I think I'll still enjoy it. Maybe 4.82% if I'm feeling generous.

These better be reskins or some generic weapon that has D scaling. I decide to commit to preordering a collectors edition for the first time ever and then From pulls this shit, way to fuck up the goodwill they had built with the last games treatment of DLC :(.

They'll probably be like boss weapons or something, cool looking and useful for NG1s, but quickly outclassed by weapons with better scaling.

Still shitty practice. But we all knew this would eventually happen with the games getting so popular so quickly, becoming a "franchise". I mean the trailer premiered on Spike TV ffs.

Modeler's DLC, incidentally, is only actually worth rat's ass with Verdict Day, since Verdict Day is much more stingy in ways for leveling up your store access and the DLC can open up certain high-end weapons for purchase earlier. An unintentional side effect.

Goddammit! Japs get the superior boxart yet again.

I don't get this, everything we heard about the game was fine, now that they announced these pre-order items I'm supposed to scream sell-outs and the end of times? Isn't there a jump of faith somewhere in there, are we being rational?

Well that's an interesting spoiler.

Guess that tells us which ending is canon from Dark Souls 1 huh?

Trying to weave together a singular canon out of all the bits and pieces of story / setting is bigger decline than pre-order exclusives.

Singular canon should not be a problem, seeing as the game's writing doesn't contradict itself, it is just subtle and minimalistic.

Dark Souls was subtle and minimalist, in part because it didn't explicitly try to tie in with Demon's Souls or King's Field, despite sharing themes and some character archetypes. If those area names are an indication, this game will not be subtle or minimalist. And we already know the director prefers directness over subtlety :decline:
