Nopes. You didn't actually say what he said. If you're really stretching it, you could say that it was implied by your post, but in no way did you "explain" this to me, like he just did.

is it really that hard to read?

the red phantoms that you saw chugging esuts like a host and had full health were summoned through the red soapstone, i.e. the one for duelling, so they're on equal footing with the host.

(kanedias' explanation for reference: "The speed of healing depends on what kind of phantom you are, for example a red sign invader can heal faster than a normal invader.")

anyway, on topic, they posted a bunch of new screens on their FB page (i skipped the crappy char creation screens):

the level up screens are probably the most interesting. i am also glad they changed back to the old DaS1 lightning spear animation. and some of the starting armours look pretty ridiculous or just crappy (the explorer seems the most codexian with the monocle...)

Not only is the explorer using a short sword (MUCH better starting weapon than a dagger), he has a shield. IIRC, from said 2 classes start with a shield. In the last image that is.

[Insert ramblings about Explorer being the new Royalty via fitting theme of Dark Souls 2 blah blah blah]

EDIT: Or is that the warrior? if it is the armor looks like ass. Can't be the warrior since I saw images of the hard leather armor.

yeah, and that "giant seed of whateverness" consumable makes mobs hostile to the invader... in before gouda makes up something other lame ass reason for why he's a coward "b-b-but phantoms are red, that's clearly an indication they're OP! how can i fight fairly with someone who is coloured like blood?!"

Does it really?

That's going to make for some fun trolling. Hire a couple blues, use the seed , wait for invader getting swarmed by monsters. LOL! I'm assuming the seed is a one time use.

But tell me more about the bird and the monocle. Maybe... could it be...?

yup, and judging by comments from some other journos that played on some events, it should be available to purchase at merchants relatively early

Pre-order weapons:

Black Flamestone Dagger and Black Flamestone Parma – A dagger and shield encrusted in Black Flamestone both found in the Gutter at Black Gulch. Even though they are heavier than a normal dagger and shield, the Flamestone crystal’s unique properties make the dagger extremely sharp and give the shield high resistance to damage.

Yellow Quartz Longsword and Yellow Quartz Shield – A straight sword and small shield hardened with yellow quartz both uncovered at the bottom of the Iron Keep. Even though these items can break easily due to their high level of corrosion, they are exceptionally light and their power to inflict damage has not declined.

Bound Hand Axe and Bound Wooden Shield – A brutal hand axe and shield found in the Undead Purgatory. Both items are wrapped in chains and thorns to cause additional bleeding on enemies. Both the axe and shield have diminished in overall slashing power but their ability to deliver pain has been deliberately increased.

Homunculus Mace and Homunculus Wooden Shield – A mace and shield with spherical protrusions found in Aldia’s Keep. Although heavier-than-normal maces and shields, the hard protrusions greatly increase the striking power of the mace as well as the shield’s defensive capabilities.

Transgressor’s Staff and Transgressor’s Leather Shield – A staff and leather shield entwined with an unknown and seemingly lackluster element; these items are found in the Dark Chasm of Old. They have become a catalyst for sorcery and hex and cause an effect known as Darkness.

All items in the Black Armor Weapons Pack are available to find in every version of the game, but players with the voucher will be able to access these at the beginning of the game.

What the fuck? This is some kind of prosper weapon?

I would pick the Transgressor's set if I were going to pick one.

They look like crap. I hope they didn't go over the top with the estetics of items in general.

Might just be these few.

The cost of getting early access items means you get items that look like shit, be it a spider that decided your mace would make the perfect place to lay her egg sack or some asshole decided to spray insulation foam all over your sword and shield.

cant decide between priest and knight on my first run:rage: comfy shawl or badass red tunic:rage:

I'm going to start with Explorer because DAT BIRD and the monocle and the other classes look like the same as before.

Although, doing a blind Deprived run would be fun...

I have a feeling that Iron keep is going to be DS2's Sen's fortress.

By the way the design of the weapons are completely in line with weapon design in DS, I think they look fine.

Gonna play Deprived on my first playthrough. Gonna be fun rolling around like a madman desperately trying to find a useable weapon unless they buffed unarmed attacks. If unarmed attacks are buffed I will punch everyone to death.

The class stats are balanced this time around (as far as the deprived, knight, priest and swordsman are concerned), so everyone will max out all their stats at the same level. So that made my choice in picking the crappiest class even easier since the deprived had pretty good stats in DaS.

Dark Souls 2 on PC won't be released months after consoles, Namco Bandai has revealed.

Speaking at the end of January, producer Takeshi Miyazoe said the date will be "shortly after" the console editions and will "hopefully" be confirmed within a month.

"It's tough to say," Miyazoe has now told Digital Spy. "We're still working on it at this point. I'm not going to say months. I hope it's weeks."

Miyazoe explained the delay is to work on PC specific features, such as key mapping and resolutions.

"The PC audience was an eye-opener for us," Miyazoe said, referring to the port of the original Dark Souls.

"We did do the PC port based on the fan petition and fan feedback. We were really happy for that, and we did our best to try and support the game as best as possible.

"But at the same time, we did realise the PC fan base and the PC audience really have high expectations for what a PC game should be. So for Dark Souls 2, we'll do our best to try and fulfill the basics of what the game should have."

I see From is making some concessions in appeasing the weeboo crowd.

Not that surprising, but to be fair the image comparison is a bit of a stretch.

At least the faces are not as fucked up as normal Dark Souls / Demon's Souls faces. They may have a more anime aesthetic than before but they're much better executed. That female anime Skrillex in the screenshots is pretty bad, though.

As for the armors, I don't think they're that bad. They look much better than many DkS sets. DeS had better armor aesthetics, but they were so few and almost useless.

Explorer looks sick; I guess the 'swordsman' is in wanderer's set? Only thing I can see "wrong" with that image is the hair; and it seems the game has a lot more hair styles. Also, don't give a fuck about char faces -- armor looks dope so I'm content.

Red leather/chain armor = knight?

Half-naked plate = bandit?

No more leather thong either, heh
