I think that's enough evidence for how weird you JRPG freaks are. You're lusting after underage girls and trying to tell others they don't know the genre because you're so uninformed yourself it's the only way you can cope.
Sorry to derail this amazing thread guys. You can see the type of person who thinks Japanese games are better and why. And it's the young girls wearing skimpy bikinis pretending to be their friends. It's never the plot or the world building, it's just a disgusting fetish with as minimal gameplay as possible.
Don't tell me you never lusted for a 16 year old girl... especially when you were 16 year old yourself. And Ange is 16 and it's a school setting that highly sexualizes the characters.

That's a terrible argument, there's a wide range in both cases yet in both cases the good ones are the one which just play (and look) like Wizardry or Pool of Radiance, everything else is garbage. Original Final Fantasy is great because it replaces the bad aspects of Ultima by better ones from Wizardry, and the same can basically be said about Dragon Quest 2. Later CRPGs are just Diablo-like shit with an annoying story while JRPGs abandonded the Ultima structure (advancing through following clues and using (key) items, some of my favourite CRPGs like Wasteland and Dragon Wars also use skills which is even better, Unlimited SaGa does that to a little extent) and the Wizardry balance, fun structure and fun balance of NES ones were progressively completely lost, also they included an annoying story too, that's common to all post-1995 RPGs from any part of the world. Also in general, japan or not, if it's not a game made to be just like Wizardry or Pool of Radiance then you can't even make your own party which means the game is automatically garbage.None of these games do anything interesting and original for combat though. Their unique quirks are basically the same system with a different coat of paint. CRPGs had a much wider and more original range.-Final Fantasy 5 - The famous job system. 22 classes with great freedom at creating customized characters. Some of the trickier battles in the series.
-Romancing SaGa - Open world, complex systems, free-form weapon and magic customization options. High difficulty.
-EVO the search for Eden - Game where you start as a fish and level up by evolving into various life forms. Unique.
-Dragon Quest V - A game where you start as a kid adventuring with your dad, and end up as a dad adventuring with your kids. Catch monsters and add them to your team. Decently challenging.
-Shin Megami Tensei - YHWH nukes the world, survive the post-apocalypse by summoning, fusing, and bargaining with demons. Complex faction and alignment system.
I'm a mecha fan. I know the series because I also play SRT games and have since the GBA era. I don't need to google shit because I'm not some perv looking for young girls.you know, actually you probably googled ff7 and persona after all. just like you are googling right now.
Not all are perverts but the one who shit all over the west almost exclusively are. They have arrested development and an addiction to pornographic material that severely warps how they interact with media and how that bleeds into their interactions with people. I've seen people turn up to card game tournaments with lolicon sleeves and play mats and not understand why that's wrong. The acceptance and encouragement of this kind of material is a slippery slope that eventually ends in real world consequences. These people are abused and abusing themselves and repeat the cycle through things like early porn exposure fetishes.Don't tell me you never lusted for a 16 year old girl... especially when you were 16 year old yourself. And Ange is 16 and it's a school setting that highly sexualizes the characters.

Jrpg fans are not necessarily perverts. At least not all of them. Some just suffer from arrested development.
JRPGs of this era are mostly just Ultima and Wizardry clones of some fashion but dumbed down for a console audience. The JRPG structure cements during the SNES era and didn't change until Japan started doing open world games still following the same structure but now with massive empty fields to explore. The games listed as so similar you could mix and match them and no one would know they came from a different series. Is Dragon quest really that different to Final fantasy? You could look at strictly Games Workshop games of the era and have vastly deeper and varied games than all of Japan (or at least what we saw from Japan). That's a terrible argument, there's a wide range in both cases yet in both cases the good ones are the one which just play (and look) like Wizardry or Pool of Radiance, everything else is garbage. Betrayal at Krondor, which you describe as "Interactive fiction. Barely a game." has more open exploration than Romancing SaGa which, contrary to what you claim, is not open world. Just because you have an overworld doesn't mean your game is actually open world.I suppose we'd have to answer what "era" we're speaking of.CRPGs are usually more complex than JRPGs in that era.
In 1992, many classic CRPGs were released:
-Might and Magic 3 - bright, colorful, open world. Lots of classes but no real depth, gameplay loop is kill, loot, kill, combat is brainless, game is dead easy even on the 'hard' difficulty
-Ultima 7 - Neat interactive world, lots of dialogue, combat is simple & automated, basically no character customization.
-Darklands - Deep character building system, relatively simple combat, almost no progression. Deep, procedural open world. Sales disaster.
-Betrayal at Krondor - Interactive fiction. Barely a game. (*edit I was wrong, this was 1993)
-Wizardry 7 - Wonderful depth and complexity, but dungeon crawlers quickly died in the west while remaining popular in the east.
-Eye of the Beholder 2 - Dungeon crawler, has the D&D system but it's mostly meaningless, combat is just hack-in-slash and sidestepping.
In Japan, you got:
-Final Fantasy 5 - The famous job system.
Even in that era, we can clearly see the western games are trying to tell stories first with heavily simplified mechanics, while the japanese games prioritized character customization, battle systems, and challenge. The exceptions were rejected by the west (Darklands) or were more akin to JRPGs (Wiz7).
https://k7.media/2022/12/12/pink-economy-from-boy-love-and-beyond/I notice JRPG fans seem to mostly be attracted to females, whereas fans of CRPGs are more attracted to members of the same sex, or animals, or even aliens. Just an observation, not an insult.
wait, you mean you memorized age of every little boy and girl in srw series? and you call ME a pedo? nigga, you have serious problems.I'm a mecha fan. I know the series because I also play SRT games and have since the GBA era. I don't need to google shit because I'm not some perv looking for young girls.
What happened to accusing me of googling stuff nigger? You can't admit you've been out played and not turn to calling people pedos because you have no defense for wanting to see 14 year olds in slim cut underwear.wait, you mean you memorized age of every little boy and girl in srw series? and you call ME a pedo? nigga, you have serious problems.I'm a mecha fan. Where does JRPG end and RPG maker start? The funny thing is that the vast majority of Japanese rpgs are indistinguishable from rpgmaker slop. Maybe you have a comparatively few examples of games that are actually good and something worth playing.

I'm pretty pissed that they tricked me into thinking mega homos like squall and cloud from final fantasy were cool when I was a kid which is a form of child abuse.
Don't troll me please!!Squall dodged being molested by a teacher through sheer autism. Pretty based. The gunsword is just a cherry on top.
don't worry - he didn't dodged.Don't troll me please!!Squall dodged being molested by a teacher through sheer autism. Pretty based. The gunsword is just a cherry on top.
If I knew you were going to make threads like these, I never would have ignored you. It's utter buffoonery to keep GRPG separate from JRPG when the latter has been destroying the former's asshole for years. CRPGs are nearly dead. The Japs run a train on the industry day in, day out. You stop disrespecting JRPGs because they are the only thing keeping your genre alive, you weathered dying fucks. Submit.
Just think, within the span of three years two JRPGs will have won GOTY. Cope, dilate, etc. Just don't let the druid trick you. Don't forget the dark horse Stellar Blade (it will be on PC ctfd).
And 2025 is Monster Hunter Wilds. You have nothing. Some porn games and Bloodlines 2 made by the fucking Chinese Room. The JRPG subforum >>>> whatever you call this places. The Japs control your favorite genre.
Bow to your slant-eyed overlords.

Dark souls optimized and polished? Bro you must be huffing crack cocaine heroinWhenever I think of Dark Souls, I can't help but feel the enormity of what the game did to its players. It's akin to PST, but more. Especially because DS is so replayable, whereas PST is okay to be replayed once per 15 years.
Then they kept making them. More and more of the shockingly good stuff.
It's in everything they do. The japs are perfect gentlemen - the work on optimizations out of respect for the players, when the western lesbian devs stick dlss into the game and call it a day.
They don't offer difficulty settings in DS, respecting the player not to be a retard.
They make beautiful girls, respecting the player not to be a SJW soycuck.
The japs respect us. The western dev takes a shit on us and calls us toxic.
