Good lord, this looks terrible. Like someone decided to make an entire game about level 1 pillardancing from a roguelike.

This was the entirety of Legend of Grimrock, and people claim that is a good game too.

Legend of Grimrock was good. Especially its sequel.
The thing is: it was good DESPISE its combat system rather than because of it, so it's weird to see so many devs attempting to copy that.

The two Legend of Grimrock games have the same basic combat system as Dungeon Master, which is also true of nearly every game in this particular subgenre (real-time blobbers a.k.a. Dungeon Master-likes).

Agree, except LoG 1&2 also suck balls. The entire genre is a pile of rancid dog shit.

Other than that Call of Saregnar, Colony Ship, Legends of Amberland, Monomyth, Skald and Underrail are probably great going to be a good year
