The demo really reminded me of Deus Ex 2: Invisible War. Interesting in theory despite console limitations, but so bland and empty moment-to-moment.

The AA vs AAA argument has been had a thousand times. To me if a game has above 60 developers or a budget in double digit millions (€/$ of course) it may as well be classified as AAA. Obsidian has had over 150 employees for a while now, if anything my ~70 developer estimate was severely undercutting it. They are pretty easily a AAA studio. It's just that their results are, y'know, kinda shit.
It seems as if Private Division's goal with this game was to make a presentable game with plenty of catchy and appealing marketing more than anything.

Actually, maybe the shitty impression the game leaves is the reason for the Epic exclusive. Private Division ensuring they don't lose out.

It was clever of them to make the deal before any real gameplay reveal - capitalize on the momentary hype.

I actually liked the area that was shown and the art direction had some uniqueness to it unlike the one from the previous gameplay footage. A lot of the NPCs can still get some lines to say if you passed by them and I think that would add a whole new feel once it happens.
Gunplay looks slightly better than before but it's still very bland and it doesn't help it that the AI completely lacks any competency. But overall, it looks more or less what I expected and I have no problem with the humor, it doesn't really look that out of place and the previous footage had a normal mission so I don't think it will be persistent through the whole game. It clearly needs much more polishing and a complete overhaul for the AI. Also, the UI sucks. PD should take that money they got from EPIC to push the game release date back and allow further development.

Combat is irredeemable garbage. I can't believe someone might think this to be passable combat any longer. It's been how many years since Unreal Tournament?

The product positioning jokes wore off in this 20 mins of mostly combat gameplay, I dread to think what I'll encounter in one hour of my own gameplay.

It's good they seem to have reined in the creative talents of Megan Starks as much as possible.

I really hope I'm wrong, but this is shaping up to be another game where I like the worldbuilding and the environments, but there is nothing in the writing or the gameplay to keep my interest.

Interesting in that they discuss completely different things in the before/after, I wonder if people who enjoy the RPG aspect more are more likely to be upset over the Epic decision?
Obviously, console users wouldn't care about the Epic store and console users typically aren't the target of CRPGs to begin with.

Yes, demonstrating the game by embarking on a city killing spree was a terrible idea because the game isn't really designed for that even if it's possible. New Vegas would look equally derpy if you started killing random civilians on the strip. Combat can look good when you go up against enemy ambushes that the designers planned for you to fight.

Oddly I think it's a reflection of Tim and Leonard's oldschool sensibility that they thought this was a good idea. That 1980s teenager mentality.

But I think the game looked good before they started killing. The movie audition quest was straight out of New Reno or Vegas.

that's because I hand-picked certain comments to fit the joke.

The writing looks Fallout 2 level shitty. Companions look absolute shit, have no desire to get to know them more whatsoever.

Game looks fucking low budget indie shit. What? 70 ppl are making this? If im not mistaken the same amount of people made Prey and it looks proper high budget blockbuster compared to this. I guess no amount of money can help these talentless bunch.

And why is Obsidian still relevant and so high esteemed again? Its like Bioware, once upon a time they made a good game or two and then became shit and still being treated like a second coming

Butthurt Steamtards just can't let this go. They have their own thread to whine in, but nobody is reading that except their own circlejerk, so now they're back here in the main thread pooping all over without even picking their litter up.

All of them suddenly experts in free market capitalism and consumer rights - and yet wouldn't have stopped sucking the dick of this game if it was a Steam "exclusive". You know it's true.

That's not to mention that this game isn't even an Epic exclusive. It's just Steamtards claiming it is. But it isn't - like with everything they espouse on this topic, it's basically wrong, based on misinformation and autistic reeeeee.

I'll buy this game on the Microsoft Store myself. You know why? Because it isn't an Epic exclusive, steamtards.

edit: 3 steamtards have rated this post!

:greatjob:

Could also be that, when the collective decides to hate a game, negative comments are going to get more upvotes than positive comments.

By looking at Fallout 1+2 and watching someone play it, most people would think it was shit.

This is a game by competent developers with a damn good track record through two decades. I'm p. excited to play it. I don't know what to expect, but I know it's not an awesomebutton game and will not look or play like one.

Watching people play is a shitty way to judge a game's combat. But even based on what we see, the combat is no worse than Fallout 4, so it's fine for me.

The RPG elements looks pretty decent, the graphics looks pretty bad for a 2019 game but I really don't care about that, the art style is good but the colour pattern is too dark and brown for most of the areas they show.
