Apparently they have an unprecedented super special contract that lets the developer to keep the IP.

Which would be great if it meant Indiana would become Cainarsky property, but on this gay earth it's instead going to fund the summer house of a certain fat, fucktarded parasite of a jumped-up QA tester.

3 years in development and still nothing to show on E3. Alpha Protocol all over again?
Cainarsky probably failed to "sex it up" so Urquharker decided to reboot it.

Dude, they’ve been promoting Deadfire for the last two years—they didn’t want to step all over that (not that this strategy worked). Plus, if this is a big open world game then Take-Two doesn’t want it conflicting with Red Dead Redemption 2. Promoting it now would be counterproductive.

If Obsidian ends up not showing anything, then we can probably blame it on development woes.

Maybe it is still clunky as fuck due to the "bargain bin" animators, programmers et al. that Feargus likes to hire.

I have a feeling we're gonna see something like Skyrim basically. But in a completely different setting. Obsidian studio wants to have something like that, I mean some franchise like Bethesda has.

Like Skyrim or Witcher III. In other words, it will be a shitty action RPG.

Increasing salaries might not produce the results they want. Always a risk with these things. Outside-looking-in, it doesn't seem to me as though Absurdian's non-design staff are particularly incompetent (though they're not great either; Sensuki's brought up some examples of bad coding before), just that the scope is often greater than what they can deliver within the timeframe they're given.

Speaking of writers, Chris L'Etoile, the senior writer who is supposedly working on this, seems to be loved by fans of every game he touched, EA's failed MOBA attempt Dawngate, Asheron's Call, Mass Effect, and before Obsidian, Magic stories.

Alpha Protocol was shown two years after starting development.

Charlie Protocol: Titties in Spayce. It’s got so much spayce they got Kevin Spacey to announce they’re skipping Beta. Think the jump from Windows 8 to 10, but Appled up with bling like the designers forgot how to count past 7.
