Most shitposters in here (secretly) like the game. Some people seem to "hate" it but keep on playing. If I truly dislike a game and find it to be worse than mediocre, I don't bother finishing it.

Yeah it's all virtue signaling. The irony is that I am very unlikely to finish the game while admitting the game is okay, while the shit throwing apes here are on their 2nd playthrough. Either they are neets who don't respect their time or they actually liked the game but want to be validated on codex. I don't know what's worse. Gamers truly are the most pathetic group of people sometimes.

Sorry mate,i can't hear you from all the obsidian cum in your mouth. Can you be a chap and pull out Feargus's cock out of if for a sec???
Don't worry mate. A loud minority here are genetically incapable of being lighthearted. All they want to do is feel good about themselves through any means possible, and well, it's pathetic.

btw... where is my secret crush Sailor Woedica to shine like a bright sun in this dark day of despair where yet another Obsidian title disappoints?

Does this game deserve the effort of even shitposting about it at this point?

99% of us are just playing it to shitpost about it. All the unsatisfied fun that this game fails to offer can be found just here in the CODEX forums. Obsidian should hire some people in here for TOW 2 if they want their game to be fun at all.

We already have a game like that.

It doesn't deserve it,it needs it! How am i to finish this shit if can't just alt tab every hour or so and laugh at some edgy shitpost???
Even the shit-posts aren't enough to hold me through this mediocrity. I abandoned ship.

Makes me wonder though, did the reviewers get pot & cocaine along with their review copies to actually like this garbage? Or was it the sweet microsoft dough!

I genuinely wanted it to be good. I mean I don't hate it, but the disappointment is overwhelming. Been craving for a good New Vegas type of game since ELEX. In most cases I finish a game if it falls under "mediocre", but couldn't do it here. It just zapped all my will and it also saddens me a little that Obsidian can now officially be buried with the rest of all the classic RPG makers.

Guys I'm sad. Sad of all the negativity surrounding this promised Cain and Boyarsky dream game, which is warranted in most ways. Disappointment, thy name is... NO, I WONT SAY IT. I WONT.

What happened man? Your ass used to be beautiful?!

(I do enjoy the game though, just not.. you know, yeah..)

Even if this game was Masterpiece, 11/10 since slice bread, same fuckers would come just to lose their shit of how you can't name your character Hitler or Fag and thats everything about the game is sjw.

Can you find me one (1) example of a game that most people here consider quite good but the discussion is still centered mostly around the stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the game itself?

I'm curious if your claim is even remotely grounded in reality or if you're just pulling it out of your AIDS-ridden ass.

It took about a week after release for the Disco thread to get serious. Before that it was mostly pointless ranting from people who hadn’t played whining that the developers are communists, it’s not an RPG, it’s super pretentious, and they decided to censor the word fag, with a handful of us screaming, “it’s fucking great, just play it.”

After a week or so, enough people had played it to get a real discussion going and the Disco thread got serious.

The Outer Worlds is no Disco, but it’s a decent game. While I wish it had been great, there’s a vast expanse between “great” and “irredeemably shit.”

Another thing is that I think people are maybe not giving the game credit for its moments of darkness. The burial fee sidequest in Edgewater for example. You have characters like the barber/surgeon Conrad and the cannery foreman Phyllis who profess the utmost loyalty to the system, but behind the scenes they're up to all sorts of grisly shenanigans to avoid suffering its worst consequences. And there's the totalitarian embrace of the "corporate family" concept, which made me think of what felipepepe said earlier about North Korea.

Is this trite stuff compared to New Vegas' story of nations & civilizations colliding and the march of history? Probably, but it's not the safe cuddly experience you'd expect after reading this thread either.

I agree. The shifts in tone are throwing people off. The game has a plenty of stuff that’s just meant to be dark, but it’s often being read as failed attempts at humor in this thread.

What they could have done is not just treat this corporate dystopia thing as a running wink-wink-nudge-nudge joke populated with larpers, but taken the absurd premise and really run with it wherever it wants to go

Much of the stuff you ask for in that post does in fact exist in the game. It may not lean into it as hard as you want, but it’s definitely there. Half the people in Edgewater told me to stop asking so many questions and stop mentioning the Hope, or the board will come down on me and possibly the whole town. Numerous other references to collective punishment. There’s propaganda all over the place. The company towns are all police states with a free market fetish. They’ve created a whole religion to justify the regime. Just weird to pretend like none of that’s there. I wish TOW had more bite, but that doesn’t mean it’s toothless.

Nah. The tragic thing is, a lot of people actually like this shit.

I'm not at all surprised at the review scores. This is really easily digestible.

I know I've been shitting on it here nonstop but that's only because I was hoping for something more, not just another lazy, safe, one-note, one-joke thing.

why am I searching abandoned factory on acid planet for fruitcake for an asexual

I found the fruitcake. Now she wants nicer togs. She's one demanding asexual. Also apparently unable to do the most basic things, like her own shopping. I'm amazed she made it to 28.

Something that irks me the more I think about it: waking up from an unexpected 70 year cryostasis would be an incredibly traumatic experience - not just physically (which the game notes) but mentally too. The entire world you know no longer exists and everyone you loved is likely to be dead. The game doesn't address this at all. I'm not saying there should have been a backstory quest of some sort, which would harm role-playing potential, but it would have been less jarring if you could comment on how much (or little) things had changed.

I strongly differ here. It is toothless. It's all window-dressing, or hammering away at the one-note joke. The propaganda is joke propaganda, the religion is a joke religion, and the brainwashed drones don't even take their own brainwashing seriously. Like, the religious character's vision quest ended by taking drugs and him shooting his ego in the face, FFS. There's no weight to any of it. It's carefully de-fanged, pretend satire, the diametrical opposite of something with teeth.

If there were most posts like @Kyl Von Kull this forum would pass for a legitimate place to discuss games.

Strong agree, he's a quality poster even if he's sometimes wrong.

Nah.. why do that when they can give you a trait for +4% effect from food items? It's obviously so much better this way...
