Got an invite to test out xCloud on PC and iOS.
Dont have any Apple devices so only PC.

Just open up a website xbox.com/play on Edge, Chrome or Safari, log in and you're good to go.

Very straightforward, click a game and play.
They upped the res to 1080 on PC while on phones its still 720p.
Even MLB The Show is on there. It syncs saves so you can pick up where you left off wherever you played last.

You still need a gamepad to play, no kb & mouse allowed.

So far its pretty decent of the half hour I played, didnt even got that pixaleted screen tear once that is common while playing on phone and lag was minimal. Still would not recommend it for twitch games but 30 fps games should work just fine.

Nifty idea, gotta give them that. You can have a 10 year old piece of shit laptop but if it can support 1080p video stream you can play latest and greatest.

I think in a few years this is how game demos will work, you'll see an ad, click "Try it" and in 30 seconds you'll playing without downloads, different clients and other shit.

As a side note, pretty funny they partnered with Rainway to get this done when they have their own and now even Bethesdas streaming tech to use.

Sony Has Patented An AI That Will Play Games For You

The AI could be used to take over a game for you when you have other matters to attend to.

By Darryn Bonthuys on April 22, 2021 at 6:00AM PDT

SegmentNext, the patent details a method that assigns a default AI profile to the player and then learns how to evolve its generic set of actions.

As the player engages in multiple sessions of a game, the AI will watch and learn, eventually reaching a point where it can make similar decisions. The idea is that eventually, the player will be able to let the AI take over and play the game for them, allowing for the program to complete tasks that are possibly too difficult for the user.

The AI will "proceed in automatic mode to complete specific game tasks that are difficult for the user," the patent reads. "If the AI character has completed specific tasks, those tasks can be identified as being completed by the user with assistance from the AI game controller."

Other examples given include the player turning on Automatic Mode to allow the AI to take their place in a multiplayer co-op game while they attend to other matters, eventually returning to the game instead of exiting entirely.

This patent builds on Sony's push into the AI sector, as the company established its Sony AI organization in 2019 dedicated to the "research and development of AI in both physical and virtual space through multiple world-class flagship projects."

Sony isn't the only gaming company interested in improved AI either, as Microsoft announced in March that it had acquired The Marsden Group, a global tech group with a focus on infrastructure and industrial manufacturing. While it's unlikely that you'll see much of this acquisition reflected in the Xbox game space, Microsoft did note its cloud, Edge, and AI products will benefit from its new purchase.

Didn't Nintendo do this already years ago with the Wii?

I think some Mario games give the option to play themselves if you fail a lot, anyways, it's not as if AI VS AI can't be fun, but those are mostly fighting games that allow a CPU VS CPU option where you can make actual fair matches or ridiculously unbalanced ones and part of the fun is just deciding who goes in...it's not the story mode being played itself.

I guess this is an option for people that just want to get through the gameplay and into the story fast...but in that case, the old question of why they just don't read a book or watch a show/movie comes to mind.

that RTX Marble Madness demo also shows off something else: resolution is useless after a certain point, or rather it is not as important as people think.

that demo was recorded at 1440p 30fps using DLSS which means it's not even native 1440p and it looks "photo realistic". This is a very good video to show to people think "higher resolution is the end goal", because we can clearly see here it is not, yes resolution matters but not as much as the other types of technology used to achieve the overal graphical aesthetic, mainly lighting.

This demo has such bad shimmering and artifacting it's unbelievable how can anyone be excited about dlss. If nvidia instead provided one coder to help every game that is sending it's assets to their AI farms the end result would have been way better.

Prior art. Dragon's Dogma's pawns already mirror the player's behavior, while Duel Links has a feature to let the AI play for you (used mainly to have the AI grind for you, requires very specific decks optiomized around the AI because it's retarded).

Sony just bought Nixxes, a notorious PC porting house that worked with Square/Eidos for 20 years.

Wat could dat possibly mean?

I think two playthroughs was enough Bloodborne for me. Not as good as Dark Souls or Demon's Souls, nor as inventive as Sekiro.

Bloodborne is really tightly designed, but I think for it to really work, you have to buy into the setting. If the visuals and setting don't appeal to you, then it will probably feel more like "Dark Souls 3 but with less weapon, build, and item variety."
