Detective Grimoire: Adventure Game on iOS/Android (+PC/Mac?)
Check out the playable demo on your browser here

Be warned that this is a very light hearted game. And even though it's not my cup of tea, I was able to enjoy the very very very short demo. But really not much to do in the game :(
The art is nice, the music is quite good, and the characters (voice acting) are also very good IMO and do give them personality.

I asked them about the game duration and they mentioned 4-6 hours, which for its price 4$ is quite fair.
My only grudge is that the short gameplay time might not be enough to present a story capable of interesting the player. (aka emotional engagement)
And I'm not sure how challenging the game will be in terms of puzzles :/

Kz3r0 maybe you want to update the kick thread with this (I leave it to your judgment). I'm posting this here because this forum is where the target audience lives.

That's true about Jane Jensen, though the extent of her involvement isn't totally clear. Hopefully it'll at least help elevate the writing beyond the middle-school fan-fiction levels found in TSL.

They sent her the script and she advised them to stick with the 'Psychic FBI detective hunting a biblical themed serial killer' plot and drop the 'Who really wrote Shakespeare's books' angle.

It's gonna suck.

If you are looking for a cyberpunk text adventure, there's always CYPHER: Cyberpunk Text Adventure.

http://www.cabrerabrothers.com/

They have three different pricing levels with different amounts of content or "digital feelies", as they call it.

I haven't played it as King of Dragon Pass is eating my time, but I figured you guys might want to know about this :D

fuck!
looks like Neuromancer meets Blade Runner!

Got me very interested, in fact even hyped, and all so easily... but without a demo I'm reticent about it.
You can see they put a lot of love into all this.
And they seemed to have evolved IF in the right direction. Usually evolution means turning things into shit, but it's not the case with this one. They tried to fix the weak spots that IF has.

damn it! :bounce:

JudasIscariot where did you find this?
Why have I never heard about this game before?
The Brazilian Slaughter why haven't you informed us!?

can't listen to their music preview because I don't facetweet :rage:

Seems like it's old-school considering that you have to type in your commands...

The Brazilian Slaughter it's as old school as it gets. Interactive Fiction.

But it seems the game is somewhat plagued with engrish. They said they will be releasing a patch.

I'll be waiting for a demo or a serious review.

The Brazilian Slaughter, I mean, JudasIscariot that trailer had already been posted here. But it's always nice to watch it again :)

Part of me wants to sign in for beta testing, but the other part has other games to play.

About the much needed update on Cypher, as it would be expected from a rushed patch, it doesn't fix all of it:

According to Wadjet Eye, they are good for testers right now but they usually send out a notice on their twitter if they need more :D

In other news, the creator of McPixel has partnered with none other than The Pirate Bay to promote his game. No, I am not joking. Read more about it here:

http://www.gamezebo.com/news/2012/09/08/mcpixel-developer-“deeming-piracy-theft-wrong”-interview

Quote from the article:

“A quick display so far [shows that] McPixel has sold around 300 copies [through McPromo], while the torrent has over 3,000 peers,” Sosowski told us yesterday (numbers have since increased). Yet, far from seeing this is as indicative of public greed, he takes a different angle completely. “[This] shows that people torrent because they have no other means of accessing the content. I believe that all these 3,000 people who downloaded the torrent would gladly purchase the game, for even as little as 1 cent. But I do not allow them to, [instead] restricting my service to PaPal and credit cards.”

ghostdog it does look sweet but has some basic flaws.
If you missed it, check the posts above and the links to the discussion at GOG.
A shame those guys weren't humble enough to recognize they screwed up, and went for a quick dirty fix that doesn't solve that much.

I will buy it if they release a proper fix, if not... oh well :(
