Instant healing? Where?
you use grog or rum, and are instant healed

Ah, yup.

I think I never ended up using rum or other stuff in the middle of the battle since I had so much crog. Then again I turned diffuculty to easy in the middle of the game. I had rum and crog and other stuff to drink for weeks.

It is not lame, it is blasphemy to any self respecting gothic fan to play a game that has instant healing :S :S :S
I might give it another go but will wait for some patches or mods probably.

Once on Sword Coast and with Steelbeard, is the choice between Inquisition and the savages permanent? I mean, is it like in Risen 1 where you could sort of dance around between the two before deciding? It sounded pretty final like it was one or the other.

You have to choose one faction - otherwise you can´t progress in the MQ (which includes unlocking the open world gameplay). So no, you can´t e.g. stay neutral and visit all other locations before making your choice.

It's not permanent when you talk with steelbeard. The permanent choice comes later.

Ah, my bad - yep, that talk between Steelbeard & you after liberating that tower at the coast is not the final choice. In that regard, you can "dance" around the decision while being on this island.

The choice happens when you have a choice to shoot natives, or go with natives and do it in theirs own way. It happens nearly at the end of the all quests on that island. So you can, and should take your time before choice.

Don't worry, it's very obvious when you hit a point of no return. You'll be informed by the relevant NPCs that you'll have to commit. Talking to Steelbeard just gives you a guide to one location or the other.

Yahtzee generally is only interesting to listen to when he does a video about a game he really loves (Thief, Silent Hill 2, Psychonauts) or when that game is a complete piece of shit with no redeeming qualities. He's certainly not to be trusted on any kind of RPGs, he does not understand this genre at all.

I already restarted! [...] Yeah, this is lame.
I hereby formally rescind, reneg, invalidate, and otherwise, as to make void, all of the wise and/or nice things I said to help un-depress you.

Choices and Consequences, mothah fuckahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhs, and this is why nobody ever bothers with the real deal.

I would agree with you, but the dialogue choice for challenging him for the bandanna should still be there. It would be rather meta to look at a walkthrough and think to attack him for it. He simply doesn't initiate dialogue if you don't immediately challenge him.

Yeah, that bandanna thing is retarded. But I just went on, it's not important at all and I left the quest uncompleted because I wanted to keep the +1 to Cunning item.

Still, you may hit an extremely retarded fuck up later on (we talked about it 1 or 2 pages ago). In fact this does seem to have managed to drive me away from the game... I can't bring myself to conduct a difficult, long, and completely unnecessary fight the game puts me into, and due to a design glitch it's impossible for me to continue the main quest otherwise. But the game was fun up to that point ;)

You know, he is pissed off when you talk to natives, thus you can be attacked by him because he is a big macho, only because you talked with natives. Or you can beat the crap out of him, and all other guards when you attack him without a provocation. What's problem with that? When he attack you nobody would lift a finger for him because he is a dick, and he isn't that competent in combat to be undefeatable when he fights alone.

It's more like players are accustomed to problem called, when it didn't worked a first time, and they can't repeat it the same, it will not work in any other way just because developers are not providing any other way...

Yeah, I had a lot of problems early on in New Vegas, trying to "untrain" myself from running out and banging my head on whatever wall they pointed to. That's more what Phelot needs heckling for - not playing around a little more in the very same game space... that and restarting for optimum outcome. Double-triple bonus points if it's because he thinks he needs it to get the lockpick and/or through the gate.

However it's inarguable that if it were an intentional decision it would still be bad design.

It's my inner completionist need to eliminate all quest entries. ALL OF THEM MUST BE ELIMINATED!

So somewhere online I read that you couldn't complete it if you didn' immediately challenge him so I purged that saved game with fire.

Hahaha, what the hell  the whole last section of the Sword Coast, from the bossfight to sailing away, was hilariously retarded on so many levels

That cutscene with the kraken attack? All I could think of was this when watching it:

I just dont understand how can you make worse game then the original. It has almost everything worse. Animation for instance, they are SOOO bad, combat is laughable, i mean WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING :S :S
Risen 1 was superb game, not gothic superb but it was good.
Risen 2 is... i dunno not even mediocre. You can't even die, i didn't die the whole first part and the good part of the second island.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Typical PB game. The last part sucks compared to the previous parts.

Island of the Dead was entirely pointless, and a crappy dungeon crawl. They should've spent their time improving the previous islands instead of adding that piece of useless crap.

Right, already got a hefty .txt full of notes after playing only for 11 or so hours. Sided with inquisition, got a save game at the natives vs KKK choice, gonna revert to it once I'm done with the game, check how voodoo works and write an angry review.

Keep in mind that I have a very busy month ahead of me tho, so don't really expect it within the next 30 days. But better late than never.
