Hahaha, what the hell  the whole last section of the Sword Coast, from the bossfight to sailing away, was hilariously retarded on so many levels

That cutscene with the kraken attack? All I could think of was this when watching it:

I cringed pretty fucking hard at Patty's wails for her father. I couldn't even watch the whole thing.

Well, I can't recall exactly what she screams, I think it was "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" but it was pretty bad. Mid screech I skipped it.

Entered game. 2 minutes. Quit.

One question: Is it me or the camera changes position for each dialogue line?

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Sometimes it ends up in a characters skull so you can see the back of their teeth. Odd.

Well guys, I don't know, this is definitely a step down from R1 in my opinion. The boss fight with that golem thing  More tedious than fun or thrilling... or challenging.

And yeah, the combat is such that I set the game to easy just to get through it. It isn't fun. I had a lot of fun in the first game, especially against humans and it is true that the combat against animals in 1 amounted to trying to exploit them, but in this game... it just seems random? I also find the controls to be a bit unresponsive, or maybe overly sensitive is the term. It appears to be trying to string combos so making a kick move means if you pressed spaced bar twice you do not 1 but 2 awkwardly slow kicks  Doesn't really work the way it did in something like Blade of Darkness.

I was also disappointed to find out that having the 4 companions I already got are pretty much all I'll get for a single playthrough? I heard you get 1 with the Treasure Island DLC. I think there are maybe a 1-2 more I can get in my playthrough siding with the savages, but someone else could confirm. Not that I care that much, but still. I've gotten used to having a companion in this game while in most I would hate it.

It seems like exploring is a bit less than what it was in the first game. It seems like every set amount of space MUST contain a boring chest filled with boring loot. I would have preferred it be a bit more rare and to give something a bit more substantial. I am also still butthurt that every food item you pick up converts to "provisions" which also makes getting meat and cooking it seem like a gimmicky step to just get more of the same. They really should have left it the way it was in Risen 1 or even expanded on it.

I kind of like the random chatter and dialogue, it seems to keep with Risen 1's charming wit. I've chuckled at a few lines, though it falls apart when it tries to get serious, but luckily that doesn't seem to be that often so far. PB knows how to give their NPCs some character. It's amazing considering the few lines they have to work with while Bioware or Bethesda NPC's teeter between hardcore tough guy and cheesy "gamer" type humor that isn't funny. Anyway, I like it so far.

it actually isn't random against animals, there is always a catch, i haven't played long enough for every one but i know for pigs that you can sidestep their attack and hack them to death after. And for those little sand devils you just mash LMB (lol seriously that is the best way since they are stunlocked). for crabs you need to kick them, and so on. Humanoid fights are actuallythe worse in R2, since you can just spam power attack and NPC dosen't know how to block it. Also it seams that NPC cannot brake your block so...
It is shit. :/
And no1 answered so far, dose the patch improve on much? Is it worth buying now? :/

The patch is impacting the combat and at least in my case the NPCs are blocking and doing all kind of combos. I got my ass kicked a couple of times. A small improvement.

At first glance this is Gothic3 mess all over again, so the game is not worth the asked price, except if you want to support PB.

But I might be wrong, because I only have ~4h game time.

I swear, this game is like one gigantic fetch quest. Go fetch me three pirate captains! Then 5 pieces of [stuff] for said captains! Then gtfo on a raft but first you need 5 pieces of x, 6 pieces of y and 10 pieces of z.

Also: cutscene-induced plot stupidity

Yes, now imagine that the captain who sends you after the x that marks the spot sends you after 5 xs. And to get to each x you have to run errands for 10 different people. And after you finally get all 5 xs, the captain calls you a dumbfuck and runs away, leaving you boiling with generic rage and heading on a quest of getting 20 pieces of driftwood to get your own damn ship to chase him.

That's Risen 2 in a nutshell.

Still plan on getting it on sale. It's a PB game so I'm sure it'll entertain me despite its flaws. Also that Air Temple DLC just hit Steam for $10!

To me it didn't feel at all like an PB game, it felt like something alien. And i played PB games to death.

They just don't know what the fuck they are doing.

Impossible to buy from anywhere in the UK, pre-orders cancelled, ridiculous price on Steam, DLC punishing you for not buying from the right place, fuck them.

That's a quite a lot for small DLC like temple of air.

Wasn't it included in one of the Super Duper collector's editions or something? Any idea how long it is? I'm guessing the 8 hours they state on the store page is an exaggeration.

It was. And it's shit.

Basically, the whole DLC is like this:

On one island, you meet the druid guy from Risen 1. He tells you to go out and slaughter 12 gargoyles and bring him their 5 eggs. Then you are taken into a corridor-island, where you kill 16 more gargoyles. Then you have to look for more gargoyles and eggs on every other island in the game.

Exciting as fuck, and can be completed in like 1-2 hours if you have all islands unlocked already.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Yeah, all it does is basically add a quest that has one island - with gargoyles - and about 3 gargoyles per island that you have to kill, which usually are in a location that you will explore anyway so it doesn't really add much. 1 hour of extra gameplay maybe.
