Codex 2012 Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Dead State Project: Eternity Codex USB, 2014 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath

AS series is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I'll wait for some reviews... Had some bad experiences with their last alien shooter 2 rerereremix or whatever it was. They abandoned it while it still had game-breaking technical issues.

Personally I dont consider those games guilty pleasure I just find them fun games, no guilt attached. First few reviews are all positive and or that price tag even if its shit it would not be a huge loss, I would have already bought it but my graphic card is broken and Im waiting for replacement so I cant play anything for now.

But the moment I fix my card I will buy it unless we get large influx of bad reviews.

Well I was a bit excited by the screenshots but it's an MMO. :| Looks like it is pretty long in development.

Anyone?
From the Depths

Love me some autism simulator

Is it multiplayer only though?

It has complete single player modes. Pretty sure the multiplayer came later.

If you enjoy games like Kerbal but don't think they have enough destruction and wanton violence this game can be fun. Unless you download stuff from the workshop you pretty much have to build everything like guns, hulls, engines, etc. from scratch though.

I find it much harder to build something that works when compared to the other crafting games I've played so that somewhat diminishes my enjoyment. Hard to feel like a military powerhouse when your gunboats are barely staying afloat in port. Still fun though.

And yet VNs with lolis or similar to them are unwanted.
Now, for something different, I found something really inane that may be of interest to some Codexers, like cat-people. May or may not be worth your attention, but it has a demo at least.

In Osteoblasts, you play as a spooky scary skeleton raised from the dead by a mysterious Cat Witch in a journey to find purpose. You get to choose a class and go on frightening adventures battling your nemesis - the Dogs - who unburied you from the depths below.

You'll be faced with various quests, meet friendly skeletons, travel to spine-tingling dungeons and fight monsters to get stronger. The entire world has class-specific quests and several randomized elements that will change as you visit them again. But beware - as a sinister skeleton wandering about, not everyone will accept you. The dead aren't as welcome as they should and it's not even halloween yet.
Features:
  • Single character, multiple classes, items, abilities and spells.
  • Randomized loot affixes which change your skills when equipped.
  • Multiple Endings.
  • Barebones battle system.
  • Heartless story.
  • Braindead hard difficulty.

That games only merit is the graphics and animation of the Dinos. It's not actually a park building Sim.

I kind of agree about Jurassic World now. I played it a bit and it makes me feel more like a slave who has to perform the right actions than a game.

What about Planet Zoo though?

Developer of Star Fleet II: Krellan Commander has resumed work with his old game.

It's an interesting trend that original creators of games from 80s/90s updating and re-releasing it by themselves.

Star Fleet II: Krellan Commander is the second in the Star Fleet series of advanced space strategy simulations. Having fought as an Alliance starship commander in Star Fleet I to stem the onslaught of the Krellan and Zaldron Empires, now you get a chance to try command on the "winning" side.

sf2_015.png

A Pitched Battle with an Enemy Starbase

As Commander of a Krellan Battlecruiser with four destroyer escorts (forming a "battle fleet"), your mission is to explore the star systems of the United Galactic Alliance looking for planets to conquer and Alliance warships to destroy. Your ships are equipped with the latest technology, including phasers, homing torpedoes and deadly obliterator pods. Also at your command are elite shock troops for boarding and capturing enemy vessels, and legions of Krellan warriors for planetary invasions.

Star Fleet II gives you more depth, complexity, and realism than any space war simulation before or since. But that's not all! Star Fleet II is actually two games in one. Every time you invade a planet, Star Fleet II switches to a complete planetary invasion game that allows you to control the conquering Krellan forces in their attempt to overwhelm the planetary defenders.

From up to dozens of military targets on the detailed planetary map, select and control up to eight invasion zones from your Invasion Control Screen, or take personal command of your units. Your objectives: to capture cities and factories; knock out shield generators, planetary defense phasers, point defense lasers, and missile launchers; and eliminate both UGA troops and native militia forces. Like combat in space, planetary combat is real-time (no turns, but you can pause!).

Explore uncharted star systems and planets - your landing parties may even discover the ruins of ancient civilizations that may contain beneficial alien artifacts. Attack and pillage planets, wipe out civilizations with a single command, interrogate prisoners from a captured starliner, then beam those prisoners into the sun or empty space to improve your crew's morale! Who says command can't be fun?!

  • Realtime simulation of movement and combat, both space and planetary
  • Ship-to-ship and fleet combat
  • 12 critical ship's systems simulated
  • New commands include; communications, intelligence, strategic command, logistics, obliterator pods, science, medical, planetary invasions and more

So the long-time-coming fancy boomer shooter Prodeus finally came out in EA a few days ago; reviews seem very positive.

And ofc, the new Yakuza game.

And this little free title.

There's a pretty good Fighting Game sale going on currently:
https://store.steampowered.com/publisher/valve/sale/FightingGameSale

KOF2002 UM and Guilty Gear+R are notable because they've recently gone back and updated those games to significantly improve their netcode. Guilty Gear had something like 2000 concurrent players in the past few weeks, which is about even with the most-played FGs on Steam.

If there's any interest it's always a good time to buy these games while there are big sales going on, that way online play has a good share of both noobs and seasoned veterans. KOF2002 has been a lot of fun for me, it has a big roster and is close enough to SF2 to be refreshing.

Thoughts on Soul Calibur VI? Is it worth it?

The biggest complaints I hear about SC6 are related to matchmaking. Casual lobbies are mostly dead so queuing up for Ranked matches is the only way you're going to find fights for the most part, and since the community is relatively small you might get pitted against some high-ranking people even if you're just starting out. Even so I've never had to wait more than 2-3 minutes to find a match. Netcode is not great but not offensively bad. Games with rollback netcode definitely win and it can be annoying to eat attacks that you know that you reacted to physically, but it's not be enough to be a deal-breaker.

I think the games mechanics make it very approachable to new players. Most moves are pretty simple to pull off and there aren't huge execution barriers you have to jump through for most characters. Most of the barriers are going to be learning movement and knowing which moves are safe and unsafe. It's a little slower than some FGs and I personally find attacks a lot more 'readable' than in other games, maybe due to weapon trails and just generally good animations.

Some people like the series for its single-player offering and while it's better than what you'll find in most fighting games, it never really grabbed me. Not as much fun as SC2 or SC3, but there's still a lot of content there. There's a quasi-RPG mode that will have you skipping most dialogues and story modes that are serviceable I guess. I did enjoy playing through Geralt's campaign.

The character creator is a lot of fun and easy to spend hours in. You can really do a lot with it, and you're able to share your creations in-game for other players to browse. It's fun to look at the things other people are making, and I notice a lot of them hardly even play online. For some people the character creator is the sole reason they boot the game up. PC even has save editors that let you do some stuff that you can't ordinarily. I've spent a lot of time in the editor and have made some cool shit. Here's an amazon I made:

I'd say it's worth the asking price while it's on sale, depending on what you're into. If you're planning on playing online just be prepared to lose a lot and try to have fun with it anyways. I'm always willing to play as well.

KoF2002UM is really good. Huge roster and good gameplay. It's my favorite KoF really.
Been meaning to get KoF XIV. It's been on my wish list for a while now. KoF XIII was a huge disappointment for me.

Tekken I believe lets you do some minor decorations, but as a game it's got a much steeper learning curve. Street Fighter x Tekken let you recolors your character I think.... maybe some wrestling games have some customization? I think Injustice 2 had some decorating you could do, as well, but lol at playing an NRS game.

Really SC is unchallenged in that sphere as far as I'm aware. It's enjoyable fighting people online just to see what kind of batshit stuff you'll run into. People complain about customizations detracting from the sanctity of ranked mode, but they're a big part of why it's probably my favorite fighting game:
