I'll probably get Mirror's Edge. Debating SS3 but I'm sure it'll just keep getting cheaper. Plus it's a Steamworks game.

Hmm, all the Serious Sams for nearly $30... I only played the first one long ago, and it was good. Have I missed anything since then? Basically, is that package worth it?

The non Croteam ones (Random Encounter/Double D) are pretty crappy. First and Second Encounter HD are just that, remakes of the the two classic games with updated graphics. Serious Sam 2 a lot of people knock as not being faithful to the originals and more gimmicky. The most recent is pretty good. If I were you I'd probably just get SS3. If you're so inclined you can get the Deluxe version for $17 which also includes the two classic originals (not the HD remakes).

Metro is right. Don't get Serious Sam2. First and Second encounter and Serious Sam 3 are the way to go. Serious Sam 3 is almost a beacon of incline in a world of decline.

For $3.40 I think I'll get SS2 just for the hell of it. Never played it since I heard it wasn't as good as the rest, but at that price I'll probably check it out for myself.

And Mirror's Edge is pretty decent. Stupid as shit story, but I thought the look of the game was nice, and the FPS parkour crap is neat. I had a good time with it. Steam says 7 hours played, but I dicked with the timetrial stuff a bit. Also has some nice PhsyX stuff if you've got a Geforce card that supports it.

Yep, Mirror's Edge is fairly short. Maybe four and half to five hours max (depending on how much you screw up).

Funny enough I talked myself out of it -- probably grab SS2 instead. Will hold off on SS3 for another time.

I honestly think that Mirror's Edge is one of the best games in recent years. The aesthetic is brilliant and the pros of the gameplay outweigh the cons (like forced combat sections). I remember being perplexed about a lot of people complaining about the trial and error. WTF? Trial and error is a part of any game, especially platformers!

Definitely worth picking up at that price.

Grabbed Derp Baconing today. Will keep it on the pile until EA drops the price on the other two to 75%

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is very good. At times it felt like I was playing Bloodlines again. Would have been much better if there were a few more sidequests, and the ending was pretty linear, but other than that I had a lot of fun with it.

I bought Mirror's Edge on Origin a couple of days ago for £5, now I'm pretty gutted that is cheaper on Steam. To be honest, I didn't see what the fuss was about. Graphics are pretty dated now, and the selling point of the game (freerunning, jumping etc) is everywhere now, in the Uncharted games, the Batman games etc.

Derpus Ex: Human Resources is definitely worth $10. Skip all of the DLC, though. The weapons and additional mission are forgettable/pointless and the only solid part of Missing Link is the 'boss fight' which is how the other boss fights in the base game should be handled. It's only about three to five hours long depending on your play style. Not worth $5.

Where do you see Derpu Sex: Yo,man Evoluchron for $10? My Steam says 17 Euros.

Or are you simply saying literally that it's worth $10 (and not more?)?

Well it's also $10 at Amazon DD and while they require a U.S. billing address I've heard there are ways around that... I guess if you use pay pal or something.

Definitely have to disagree. First of all, Uncharted and Batman are both in third person, and Uncharted is on tight rails (so is ME, from what I recall, but not nearly to the same "cinematic" extent). Take out the spectacle, Uncharted actually has some of the most boring platforming ever. It's all flash, no substance, much like the rest of the game. Batman IMO is more about exploration and doing Batman things (as it should be), than running and jumping. A better comparison would be the Assassin's Creed games, but I feel those have largely streamlined the platforming too much, which is actually kind of OK since it uses it more as an enabler.

From a game like ME, I want the focus to be on escaping, chasing, and getting into places you shouldn't at high speed in first person. It also doesn't have a single button to free-run like AC, instead requiring you to execute discrete moves in various sequences. ME didn't really fulfill all its potential, but it really was different and that's why I'd like to see more.

http://www.steamprices.com/us is handy if you want to see what things cost in the GLORIOUS LAND OF FREEDOM. Usually US prices are best, but occasionally UK prices will come out ahead, and very rarely euro prices do.

Nice page, thanks! Amazing if an entity not connected with Steam would go through the hassle of creating it; and I wouldn't think Steam would do it itself. Weird.

Technically there is some way to override Steam and show certain regional prices. Involves adding something to the URL, I just never remember what the hell it is and checking this webpage is more convenient.

I believe it's just a matter of replacing the country code to 'US' -- easier done in the web based store versus the client. Played about an hour of SS2 so far. I can understand why people regard it as being worse than than FE and SE (smaller levels, lots of cutscenes, lower difficulty, less enemies, lot of vehicle stuff) but I'm still having decent fun with it. Only complaint is the FOV which isn't surprising since the game was only designed for Xbox.

Question: Anyone know how the bots are in Payday? I'm still considering it but will probably pass assuming the bot AI is terrible and the game is only fun in multiplayer.

You have to access the Steam store via a web browser and put ?cc=us at the end of the address.
