I haven't got it, nope. Even $2.50 at 4-pack price isn't enough to tempt me. Not even naked lizard-woman butt.

If you're thinking of buying L.A. Noire: don't. Check out youtube if you just want to see the amazing facetalking technology.
If you want to play an adventure game, you can install several others for the amount of space this'll take up.
If you want sum noir, read or watch that shit because this one takes half a game to get to it.

The dialog system gameplay is predicated on trying to guess what the designer had in mind for each option. There are no manual or quicksaves, and you don't know where the checkpoints are.

You cannot skip through dialogs or cutscenes. Ever.

For five bucks, it's kind of relaxing. Should have been about ten hours shorter and focused on just being an adventure game, and it's not in the least bit difficult, somewhere between an okayish TV series and a high-tech screensaver. You walk around. You click. You try on different outfits. I enjoyed it more than I can really justify. (But hey, it was about five bucks then, too.)

Yeah I'm really not eager to grab LA Confidential. Better off just spending that money on the (now expired) Tex Murphy Kickstarter.

Counterpoint, it's five bucks

I consider time spent on playing something with respectable gameplay worthwhile more than five bucks. It's not even a funny purchase like some your other stuff bro
This is pretty much the call of duty of detective games, except instead of nonstop action you get nonstop walking around looking for a hotspot item, so with a whole bunch of filler as well. HIGH PRODUCTION DETECTIVE LARP ADVENTURE GAMING

cases = levels

ps the gunplay is cover based of course

and you get to check dead bodies for semen.
Wrongo, it's the coroner guy that does that. You check them for identification, receipts, letters and missing wedding rings. That said I'm sure all the fence sitters have been tragically swayed already

ENJOY YOUR COLE PHELPS 1-2-4-7

Yeah, well maybe there's semen on the receipt! You never know! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BREAK MY HEART MELTDOWN!

I really did enjoy the game though, even with all the popamole. Wasn't crazy about it but I liked it well enough for $5 (Or I think $13 at the time I bought it). Your criticisms are all true but I guess I just liked the spectacle of it enough to not care too much about the popamole receipt-finding and unskippable cutscenes (Since it was my first time through). Biggest annoyance I remember having was figuring out who the
serial killer
was like 3-4 fucking cases before you do for the story and not being able to grab him.

Sounds like Text Murphy..might be worth a look, but you're right cinematic crime cases is just not my kind of thing.

Clearly saw an MhC post but failed to brofist it.

wow, really?
He was just there once and pretty low key. I guess the temp thing and unsaid common thread clicked for you

It was obvious that you weren't getting the actual guy though, I started getting really leery during part where the Heroes mindreader was a suspect, it's like both of them were set up but you couldn't say so and had to pick one

even then I was mostly past guessing the twists and just wanting to get the cases high rated and then move on

Sounds like Text Murphy..might be worth a look, but you're right cinematic crime cases is just not my kind of thing.

2d sherlock holmes adventure games bro

i did play sherlock holmes the one where they had voiced intro .. and cutscenes with Lucasarts Interface.
Forgot the name, but i believe someone was copying jack the ripper - and murdered an actress.
It was pretty good imo. No dead ends, but lots of good stuff in there.

Further decline of RK47....Sounds like Tex Murphy? You ever played Tex Murphy? If you had, you'd know it's nothing like that. Tex Murphy has actual puzzles. This is more like a AAA Hidden Object Game.

Yeah I only played Martian Memorandum, never liked the genre anyway. Later sequels might've been better, but I've moved on from playing adventure games nowadays.

Yeah, it was by the... Second mission in that line, I think. Don't remember the exact details but I remember he was a common thread between them, despite not being seen at all by the PC during the second one. Some other character mentions he would've been working at the time, or something.

Can't investigate it though because COLE PHELPS 1-2-4-7

Yeah. So much descriptive text..and multiple solutions. I went on it expecting some boring pixel hunt, turns out it wasn't that much of one...best adventure game that no one mentioned IMO.

I... I reported you bro.

I'm sorry, but some transgressions are too big to let go simply because of friendship :(

Oh, it's my friend Grunker. That's fine, I know you were thinking with a good heart when you made your decision. That's why it's okay.

Grunker, I'm glad you're looking out for me.

First step is admitting you have a problem. You went down a dark path there, my friend, but there is hope for you yet.

Multi-headed Cow it is my pleasure to announce that I have received my first warning from DU as a result of our recent conversations plus a terse PM as well

I just glad my first time was with you and not some other uncaring jerk

If I get banned I hope someone else will take up the task of posting the occasional Gabe Newell visual tribute in this thread

June can't end soon enough.
