Meh, I bought Morrowind anyway. I'm sure it'll be $5 next week so I can raaaaaaaaage over the cost of sandwich. And yeah New Vegas will probably be $10 one of the final two days. Can't believe they already put it down to $20 list -- probably to stay competitive because it's a Steamworks title and all the other online retailers are slashing prices.

Also there are a lot of people offering to act as middle man and get people the Quakecon pack for $45 -- saw a couple at Cheap Ass Gamer forums. If you own 25% or less of the games in that pack and are interested in most of them you should probably just pull the trigger. You won't find a better deal for all of that stuff.

Well over the last 2 days playing a couple cumulative hours of Brink, and I was trying to like it, I didn't like it.

Man, will games stop making me fucking unlock guns?

In Brink's defense you unlock guns only in the simple challenges that take like an hour to do. You do not unlock guns by leveling up, to my knowledge, only skills.

That's not saying much. Don't you have to grind for gear in GA to be able to PvP effectively?

not really no. the only weapons that make a difference are the overclocked variants that add a whopping 3% bonus damage. they cost 30k tokens. considering you can wear them in the 30+ bracket only anyway, you'll have earned enough tokens by playing in the 10-29 bracket to buy them once you hit level 30. :M

Add a whopping 3% bonus damage, AND have 3 slots for mods which made that bonus even higher.

Though yeah, even a fully geared GA guy against someone not fully geared is a hell of a lot more even than being a few levels different in WoW.

I kind of hope new vegas goes on better sale so I can justify buying for the tf2 pip boy.

Anyone played pirates of black cove. It looks like it could go either way. It is on steam for $20 and I might buy it if it goes on sale.

Well there is a demo but from the reviews/player feedback I've seen the game isn't very good. Fairly simplistic, little strategy, and full of bugs/poor optimization.

Played it for review. It's a decent casual game sort of based on the old Sid Meier's Pirates!, but replaces the minigames with light RTS and RPG mechanics. The real-time ship combat is fun, though. Probably not worth the $20, wait for it to go on sale sometime. Don't expect anything deep, but if you like silly Monkey Island-esque humour and want something simple, it's not bad for what it is. It's certainly not a "true RPG" or challenging at all.

I wouldn't put Black Cove on the same page as Monkey Island, but it's a decent enough arcade game. The path finding rustles my jimmies but it's a playable game for when you have nothing else to do. Not necessarily worth the 20 bucks I paid for it, so wait for a sale if you aren't starving for something to play right now.
I did get constant CTD's but I'm not sure if they are fixed. It's been a few days since I last played it, and there was a pretty big patch today.

I would have bought it for 5 dollars if they hadn't put it on the site for 2.49, let me put it in my cart for 2.49, and then jewed the price up to 5 dollars when I went to check out.

New indie action arr pee gee coming out next week called Bastion. Game looks pretty decent, but the art style mostly grabbed me. Looks like a really good game, I just wonder if it plays good too.

I've heard really good things about it, but it's less an action RPG and more... Uh... Action exploration combat thing. Not really any loot whoring to speak of, and not much in the way of leveling up I believe.

Yeah I watched an interview by that queer TotalHalibut and the only question in my mind that I really wanted to ask the dude he was interviewing was "so how is this an RPG?" since he stated that they didn't want stats and wanted to reward player personal skill more, which is cool and all, but doesn't make sense if they want it to be an RPG.

It's sort of like a Hack and Slash version of Braid. Still, nice art work. Anyway, in addition to Terraria being on sale the 1.06 patch went live today which basically takes the game out of 'beta' -- a ton of balance changes that actually put the game in its intended state of difficulty. Before it was laughably easy to do most everything.

Terraria is a steal at 5 bucks, if you like either building or any of the 'metroidvania' games. 1.06 is a pretty nice improvement over 1.05, it makes the game harder in many respects.

It also adds damage variance, which I think is a nice touch.

Yeah they're clearly trying to lay the groundwork for more features/content. There's a ton of stuff they can do so hopefully they keep the updates free.

Also Kalypso sale this weekend -- 66% all of their titles. For $60 you can get the whole pack (doesn't seem like a better deal than just buying individually) but if you do buy the pack you can get Tropico 4 or the new Jagged Alliance (I know, I know) for $80 total or for $90 you can get the pack and both new games.

Tropico 3 has been cheaper and will be again, I'm sure, since 4 is coming out shortly.

I'm guessing the First Templar is still a shitty deal even for 13 bucks? Anyone try it?
