I'll probably be getting Warband. Waited for a bit thinking it might drop lower than $7.50 but my guess is Tale Worlds knows it's the best game of three and probably won't get lower unless the list price drops. Tomorrow will be Magicka.

Dungeon Defenders, a tower defense/ARPG hybrid that's been in Microsoft certification hell for the better part of a year is coming out on Oct 19th. According to the lead developer, the game will use Steamworks or, at least, you'll get a Steam activation key regardless of where you buy it. I've heard that they're going to jack the price up to $15 on release (makes sense given XBLA prices) but currently you can still preorder for $9ish and there is even a 4-pack at Gay Mer's Gate in which the cost works out to be $6.75 each.

Someone get the 4-pack, imo~

Jacking the price up to $15? Those shitheads. They've been delaying that fucker for a year+ and now this. And I still want to buy it because I loves me my action RPGs and tower defense.

Glad to know it activates on Steam though. I might do a 4 pack on Gamersgate then. Or I might wait and see if they do a 4 pack on Steam, since that'd be easier than making a Gamersgate account.

Let me know, I don't do 'the Paypal' because it's too new fangled but I can gift you the equivalent of $7 of stuff on Steam/GOG. Maybe even some of my TF2 stuff to fill in the excess change.

Picked up Majesty 2 collection for $9. Was thinking of getting IWD1/2 off GoG but wanted something a little different. They look fun enough, anyway.

Majesty 2 is pretty good. It has some flaws, no doubt, but I got a good 80 or so hours out of the entire pack. Just be aware there is a save/load bug that increases the spawns to ungodly rates if you save/load too frequently. Just try to avoid it for the first fifteen or so minutes or, better yet, altogether.

Reminds me, I need to play the Majesty 2 expansions. Went through the base game and had a decent enough time even though I preferred 1, and picked the expansions up at some point during a sale and haven't gotten around to them.

Kingmaker and Battles of Ardania are pretty challenging compared to the original campaign. Monster Kingdom is a bit easier as the monster heroes are pretty overpowered but the later missions are still fairly hard.

Magicka series 75% off is today's deal... well all accept the new robe DLC. Base game is only $2.50 and the Vietnam DLC (only DLC with additional single player/mission content) is another $1.25. I wouldn't bother with the rest unless you think you'll play a lot of multiplayer -- they're just maps/arenas and aesthetic outfits.

I played the Magicka base campaign. Was p. fun for one go but unless you want to larp a specialist wizard or something it'll end up with you muscle memorying a few effective spell combinations

also it was buggy as shit

I also recommend not buying the damn dlc as they are all just slightly different starter equipment shit, you are just paying for the looks and descriptions that are maybe funny once

majesty 2 is really really crap. if someone enjoyed it, it''s one of those guilty pleasure things, because that game is really really bad. I was a huge fan of the original even though it had some major flaws, but majesty 2 I just shit my pants how bad it was. it disgusted me. brb gonna go vomit

The Whispered World on sale today. I've struck my adventure game phase again so I'm thinking of picking it up. 5 euros only. Anyone have anything to say about it?

It is great fun so far, but I can see where the game is going to ramp up in difficulty pretty soon. Sending mobs of heroes to take down monster-tropes is hilarious, though. I get a nice "Dungeon Keeper/Evil Genius" vibe from the game when I play it.

It's playable but utter shit compared to the first one. I see no reason to play it given that the first one still exists.

The game never really gets 'difficult' per se it's more a function of the poor balancing. Once you survive the initial ten or so minutes and get things up and running there's pretty much zero chance of losing a mission. The only one I never bothered doing was the last one in the Battles of Ardania expansion, Werewolf's Folly. The 'boss' is just ludicrous and the way it's scripted just requires way more effort than it's worth especially since it's the last mission and you can just say 'fuck it' and move on to the last expansion. If you like the hero/MMO parody aspect you'll definitely like Monster Kingdom where you control 'hero' monsters and take on the heroes.

Totally unrelated note, Bunch of Heroes is set to be released on Wednesday. Don't know too much about it but it looks pretty fun and is apparently going to be $10. I nominate MHC to buy a four pack~

I don't get why people say this... nostalgia maybe. I played the first one and found it worse than the sequel. You basically just sit there and watch and attack flags go largely ignored unless you put down insane amounts (even at the early stages) of gold that you likely won't have. The UI is also pretty terrible.

Couple of indie packs for midweek madness -- $10 each. Tower defense: Defense Grid, Anomaly Warzone Earth, Sol Survivor, Revenge of the Titans, and Sanctum. Platform: Nightsky, Bit Trip Runner, World of Good, NyxQuest, and Swords and Soldiers. No individual discounts, though. Unfortunately most people, like me, probably own 75% of those.

Two Worlds 2 is also 50% off because it just got a $30 'DLC' released. :M

That tower defense pack is pretty great if for some reason there's someone who likes tower defense and doesn't already have all/most of those.

Oh man, Warband has me completely hooked. I can't remember the last game that made me play it for almost 10 straight hours up until 1AM.

Sadly, I own every one of those tower defense games except for Sol Survivor. All the money I could have saved if I had just waited years!

Also, what about the 2D bundle? I have World of Goo but I've heard decent things about the other games.
