Alright... I've put about 60+ hours into Warband and it's time for a break. I need another good sale. Fucking D&D Daggerdale ain't going to cut it.

No Metro, now you must slap a mod in and dump another 60+ hours on it. Try Prophesy of Pendor out. Prepare yourself for the bobbing hardons of naked vikings. Unless that was a different mod. I don't remember. Best to prepare yourself anyway just in case. Or wait until tomorrow and pick up Binding of Isaac which will surely be not-shit (bros i am secretly afraid it's going to be shit).

Also wow, FNV gun DLC is the current #1 seller on Steam by revenue. Bros must love FNV, even with all the awful forum posts saying FO3 is better. It warms my heart.

Yeah I downloaded Pendor -- might check out the other ones, too. In my current (vanilla) game I was trying to help the Nords take over the whole continent but that's extremely tedious. Question: the way the game is set up for mods I can still launch vanilla if I have Pendor or whatever installed, right? Seems to be an option to select in the launcher.

Depends on the mod, but MOST mods (Total conversions like Pendor at least) end up as a separate option in the launcher. There are a handful that'll dick with stuff everywhere, but they usually try to make it clear if they do.

Hmm, just remembered I picked up warband ages ago in a previous steam sale - haven't even installed it yet...

It'll mean tearing myself away from Trackmania 2, which, though not on steam (yet?), is only $20 direct from ubi and is soooo fucking adictively awesome!

I'm still addicted to Warband. Starting to reflect on my work attendance :(

I wish there was a way to KILL rival lords, though. So far it seems that the only way to get rid of them forever is to recruit them, which is impossible in some cases. Otherwise, they can just recruit volunteers and train them up until they can start taking shit over again, or at the very least loot your towns.

Starting your own kingdom is also a freakishly hard to pull off (I like it).

Ok, installing now.... this better not encroach on my Dark Souls playtime next week or you'll be hearing from my attorney!! (and possibly my therapist) :x

You should probably read some basic guides before playing though. Or you can be like me and rage out while restarting about 5 different playthroughs because I screwed everything up beyond repair.

Binding of Isaac purchased and installed in celebration of buying the Genesis games anyway. :bounce:

Yeah I started a 'female' playthrough to try the start your own kingdom path which will be a bit more challenging since it's harder to be a vassal (bros don't like hoes!). I guess I just have to raise up a large enough army to take a city/castle on my own. Taking over the world on your own is probably a huge pain in the ass time sink that I doubt I'll ever do. It's onerous enough as a vassal. I was elected Marshal and took over a large chunk of Rhodok territory but had a hard time defending it because you're now in charge of garrisoning the places and sending the guys to defend surrounding regions. Eventually I just resigned, Easier to just have the AI handle that while you assist or go grab some weaker castles on your own. Obviously if you aren't a vassal you have to do all of that shit yourself. I'm guessing I'll just wait for two factions to go at it and prey on the losing side to grab a castle and a city.

Game isn't without flaws (which mods probably fix) the most glaring of which is the fact money becomes useless pretty quickly. Short of extremely high end weapons and armor (which you can live without), there aren't that many cash sinks. The AI isn't particularly stellar and can do some stupid things at times. Damage intake for your own character seems out of whack. While I play on 'normal' for troop/ally damage I play on 'easiest' for self damage. Even on easiest with great armor you can't go taking on well equipped groups of people on your own. On normal you can get two shot via melee and one shot to an archer/crossbowman depending on their troop rank. Easiest lets me have a little more fun mixing it up without being overpowered.

I mean the steam versions.
Local MP, yeah.

And starting your own kingdom is kinda rough Metro. You wanna make sure you have a good amount of right to rule, otherwise all the other kingdoms everywhere will go to war with you at once. Which you might be able to take them at first, but they'll wear you down eventually. It is worth doing though since fucking with your own kingdom and getting lords is kinda fun.

Initial impression of Binding of Isaac,

It's amazing how little MaB has progressed in the years since its release. I remember how, at the dawn of time, everyone was all "oh man if this is what it's like now imagine what it'll be like in xyz".

Indeed. Part of me wants to pick up Fire and Sword the next time it's ~$4 but the other part says it's just a glorified mod that's poorly balanced given the introduction of guns. I understand the realism part of getting one-shot but it makes for some boring game play as you're forced to stand in the back and not really make use of first/third person action part of the game. As for Warband, it's a good game but, yes, they really did half ass a lot of the game play elements like town/castle management, expenses, itemization, trading, guild businesses (to think that was added after the fact), etc. Still, it's an addictive blend of action, late 1980's era simplified strategy board game (like Conquests of the Empire), and Ancient Art of War type battles.

Continued impression of Isaac: :x SHIT SHIT BUGGY PIECE OF SHIT ASS FUCK

I assume Metro has seen me and others bitching on the Steam forums. Even though the game's pretty cool while you're playing, there are issues like achievements not achieving (Not a big issue) and the game not saving your progress when you quit (A really big issue since a large part of the game is the game adding new content/upping the difficulty the more you play).

I figured as much -- this is why I give most indie releases at least a week. Hell, I STILL haven't bought Dungeons of Dredmor.

Dungeons of Dredmor didn't have nearly this many issues at launch. Hell, Magicka probably had a smoother launch. The progress not saving is a big goddamn bug the way this game is set up.

Kind of surprised something this simple had such a big issue. I guess I shouldn't be, but still. Bummer.

Fixed myself. Apparently was due to a crapped up save from the pre-patch version, which you had to manually find and delete (Not in the game folder so deleting/reinstalling doesn't work for it).

It's not very long -- my friend beat it in about two or three hours. That said I guess the appeal is in unlocking the new stuff and replay value.
