Probably better than Witcher 2. Maybe better than Titan Quest. TQ was pretty bro apart from not enough enemy types (As in manner of attack, not skins) and the acts going way too long. Not twitchier than SMB, nowhere near as close. Still requires some twitch since you need to dodge attacks, but there's a lot more luck going on. Items can make or break you.

And a single playthrough was pretty short, took me maybe an hour to kill mom, my second or third actual attempt playing. That isn't the real ending though, once you kill her it unlocks more dungeon for your next playthrough, etc. Judging by achievements you have to beat it 9 times to get all the victories. Ending changes every time, I gather. And there will apparently be a content update in October adding a new final final boss.

Just beat the game again. Seemed harder in the lower rooms (Faster projectiles, more enemies maybe) and had two floors of womb dungeon which weren't there before. And some new bosses. Beating it again said it unlocked a bunch more stuff.

Edit: Excellent, only 0.5% of people have the Killing Mom achievement for beating the game once, and 0% have the achievement for twice. I AM THE GREATEST.

Edit 2: Oh dear Jesus I started the game again because I forgot to look at Judas' stats and it didn't save. GOD DAMN IT I WAS HAVING FUN BUT NOW I'M PUTTING THIS GAME ON THE SHELF FOR SOME PATCHING. :x

Yeah I started a 'female' playthrough to try the start your own kingdom path which will be a bit more challenging since it's harder to be a vassal (bros don't like hoes!). I guess I just have to raise up a large enough army to take a city/castle on my own. Taking over the world on your own is probably a huge pain in the ass time sink that I doubt I'll ever do. It's onerous enough as a vassal. I was elected Marshal and took over a large chunk of Rhodok territory but had a hard time defending it because you're now in charge of garrisoning the places and sending the guys to defend surrounding regions. Eventually I just resigned, Easier to just have the AI handle that while you assist or go grab some weaker castles on your own. Obviously if you aren't a vassal you have to do all of that shit yourself. I'm guessing I'll just wait for two factions to go at it and prey on the losing side to grab a castle and a city.

Game isn't without flaws (which mods probably fix) the most glaring of which is the fact money becomes useless pretty quickly. Short of extremely high end weapons and armor (which you can live without), there aren't that many cash sinks. The AI isn't particularly stellar and can do some stupid things at times. Damage intake for your own character seems out of whack. While I play on 'normal' for troop/ally damage I play on 'easiest' for self damage. Even on easiest with great armor you can't go taking on well equipped groups of people on your own. On normal you can get two shot via melee and one shot to an archer/crossbowman depending on their troop rank. Easiest lets me have a little more fun mixing it up without being overpowered.

The worst thing about the damage intake of the PC is how inconsistent it is. Even with the 1/4 easiest settings, even the most badass character with best equipment can get one hit killed by couched polearm damage (which is just idiot knights running at you on horses from behind while you're dishing it out with their buddies).

Also annoying how it takes 30/100 days to starve out castles and cities respectively. I edited the values to 5/10 but it's still way too long and while you're starving them out, somebody else will usually target specifically your fiefs (provided you're a vassal) or just attack your kingdom instead of rushing to defense. This wouldn't be so hard if you could control armies on their own, or perhaps send some of your companions along with armies so that you can multitask.

Conquering castles themselves by force is way too easy, but also incredibly annoying (nothing is more stupid than getting pushed off a fucking ladder by your own forces, or the fact that there's usually just one ladder for entire armies). I also hate how random it is whether lords can escape from battle if you've knocked them out - it seems it doesn't matter if you knock them out at the very beginning, or at the end of the battle, or if it's near the borders or right in the middle of it, or if you stand right next to them until the battle is won. They can still escape.

All that said, I'm still loving the game. My kingdom is nicely expanding and I've almost taken over the Sarranid Sultanate.

Indie game charity pack. Not sure if people would like it a lot, but at USD4.50 I gave it a go.

Please note, while Frozen Synapse, Trine, Shadowgrounds, and Shadowgrounds: Survivor are very polished games and ready to play on all platforms, the Splot and Jack Claw bonuses are different.

Splot is still under development and will be added to your bundle once it is completed. Jack Claw is a prototype of a game Frozenbyte was developing, but canceled before completion.

I took over the entire world with absolutely no problems at all. Once you start giving your followers towns/castles it becomes silly easy.

Three Steam weekend deals but none interest me: Post Apocalyptic Mayhem 50%, Bloodbowl 80% off, and Derpgeon Siege 3 50% off. Maybe if DS3 were 75% off. Hell it's cheaper to buy from Amazon and activates on Steam.

Blood Bowl is pretty great assuming you can live with the limited activations and Cyanide fuckery.

I might buy Dungeon Siege 3, but $25 is still pushing it. I can't find it any cheaper from a Canadian retailer (online or offline), and I had fun with the demo, but still...

I wouldn't mind giving Blood Bowl a shot - is there a singleplayer mode? If so, is it worthwhile? Doubt I'd ever get proficient enough to take it online... but who knows.

There is singleplayer, and it's worthwhile if like me you've never in your life played Blood Bowl before. People who know Blood Bowl say the AI isn't good enough, but since I'm a newbie I have fun making a team and playing through leagues against the AI.

Portal 2 DLC coming next Wednesday. New story stuff is co-op only (Continuing the co-op storyline, such that it is) but there will be a singleplayer challenge mode thing with leaderboards. And it's free, of course, since Valve = bro.

What's the list price of Portal 2 down to? $30? Might buy it at 75% off.

Avadon's $5 today. Think I'll snag it for that, even though I've got the two Eschalon games sitting around on Steam already.

If you still got the Eschalon games on your HD don't bother with Avadon.
Even though I don't know you well I can safely say the game is not worth your time and you will be disappointed by it. Because every true CRPG fan would and is.

I am the first to admit that I am somewhat biased against Spiderweb Software but this fact can't hide the truth about the game. It blows. And not in a taiwanese underaged ladyboy hooker kinda way.

I bought it too. I'm a shameless whore but I hope to someday grow up and be like MHC, the steam pimp.

Paid for it in TF2 metal. :yeah:

Even though most of what I've read on the Codex about it has been negative to neutral, I've heard some positive things outside. Enough that at $5 I kinda wanna check it out at some point. Plus what the hell, RPG. If I picked up Oblivion and Dragon Age and Gothic 3 on Steam I should surely pick up Avadon.

Jesus fucking Christ. Isaac got patched, that hipster shithead says he fixed the save issue. I launch the game, kill mom again, quit, start game, it ate my progress again.

WHY FIVE DOLLAR VIDEO GAME MAKE ME SO MAD? WHY?

That's weird because I didn't have that problem. Do you have anything that could prevent flash to save your game properly? Or something that would clear the flash cache?

If you use Dropbox, you may also try to have it sync your save folder (located at C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\XXXXXXXX\localhost\) so if your save file gets updated, it'll at least be saved in the cloud which will allow you to get it back in case it's eaten again.

Anyway, I like the game very much so far, and small and big doses, but unless there are some particular reasons I ignore, it seems silly to use Flash to produce it. So far it has caused countless problems with the saves — I haven't been touched by it but from what I read it plagued a large number of people — and less than stellar performances as soon as things get busy. I kinda hope they'll follow the exemple of Terry Cavanagh at some point, who moved away from Flash and remade VVVVVV in C++.

Shouldn't. Seemingly all my other Flash things save fine. Like VVVVVV when it was Flash.
