The STEAM Sales and Releases Thread

After VICIOUSLY SLAPPING MY DICK AGAINST ISAAC FOR 10 HOURS ACCORDING TO STEAM (99% of which was testing and not playing for realsies) I think I've solved it. It was Firefox what done it. I was playing the game with Firefox up 99% of the time, and apparently Firefox was crapping up the saves but not actually deleting the save file. Not sure if it was the browser itself or a specific plugin (Probably NoScript but I'm too lazy/paranoid I'll crap things up to try disabling it and testing Isaac again).

Game doesn't keep track of deaths for me, but secrets and items are most important. Well, mom kills will be too. Only just "Fake killed" mom to get access to the heart again (Wiped saves during testing) so I've yet to see if actual mom kills count. Also told the developer my finding so hopefully he can spend more hours specifically pinpointing and fixing it because god DAMN I've spent too much time fucking with this game and not playing.

Hmm, I use Firefox and NoScript, too. Guess I'll wait until he figures this out.

Well the quick and dirty solution is simply play the game while the browser is closed. I fairly often will leave Firefox up while I'm gaming, especially a game like Isaac that I play windowed and in short bursts, which is why I was having the issue I guess. Took me this long to finally check that since I figured Firefox wouldn't be fucking with it since it wasn't outright deleting the save file (Or any Flash save files) but it was apparently preventing it from actually saving somehow.

I guess.

Unless I've hit a freak streak of luck for occasions the game randomly saves.

probably one of those 'you cannot modify this file while it's in use by another application' things which in this case is firefox

I guess they did serious QA with no other applications open in the background or something

It's $5 bro... I'd think looking at a couple of YouTube videos would be enough info to pull the trigger on that.

Deaht count is important because you unlock an item at 200 deaths.

Fable III is on sale on Steam. I haven't bothered with it so far, I thought the first was annoying, the second was a lot better but really only had the soundtrack and the art direction going for it (and Stephen Fry), and I thought the main systems of the game such as the combat and the quests (go here and kill these people/creatures) were dumb. What do you lot think of Fable III?

Well, you can fart on people's heads, which is basically every Codexer's wet dream. You should definitely get it.

Fable III is even more dumbed down than the previous ones and has some completely boneheaded, stupid design decisions that really damage the game. If you enjoy Fable's art style, world, characters, humour etc., then Fable III does all that just as well as the previous games. Everything else, though, is pretty much the same as always, and some of the improvements made to Fable II (better item variety and spell system, social interaction significantly expanded, etc.) have actually got significantly worse.

Will do bro. If a 4 pack ends up at $10 or less per person I'll probably grab one, since I was interested at $10 at least anyway. Any cheaper will be icing on the cake for me. I'll have another slot earmarked for another bro who I think might want in as well.

It's been on pre-order for a few months on GG. I was midly interested at first but as time went my interest waned. Maybe I'll take another look at it.

I'd paypal for a copy on steam if anyone has any slots left on a 4 pack once it goes live.

Just talked to my Steam bro and it sounds like he's in if I'm in, so that's one 4 pack full up. Me, bro, Metro and Bruticis.

I'm kinda afraid it'll be a DLC-fest soon after release, and not the free kind …

I'm thinking that, too, and the developers have been dicks but... eh... for ~$6 I'm willing to give it a try. They might drop it to $5 during the Holiday sale but probably not $2.50 (although I guess you never know). I could also see it being in one of those massive Thanksgiving packs if they do that same promo again... but I fucking hated that.

Sum-bitch, just struck me that if they do the normal 4 for the price of 3, and are running the common 10% preorder discount, Dungeon Defenders will end up $10.12 each.

Hmmm... and they already bumped the others stores up to the $15 price point. Bah, told you to grab the pack earlier at Gamer's Gate! One of the developers inferred the Steam discount would make the game effectively $10 since there wasn't a preorder up but I guess we'll see. Not entirely sure I want it at $15 (10).

BRO I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO SAY HERE

Also hnnnnnnnnngh if you're tempted to bail Mr. Metro then maybe I'll bail as well. Or at least attempt to spend hatmoney on it. 12-13 refined should be able to pick it up I imagine. I dunno, guess I'll see how I feel tomorrow, and if it ends up at $10 each or not. Plus I lurked briefly at Trendy's forum earlier this evening and it sounds like there will be a surprise when it's available on Steam. My hatsense is tingling. :M
