Cities XL 2012 is the new version of the famous City Builder, which allows you to build, develop and connect together cities of all sizes and types on Cities XL planet. To build your cities, the version 2012 now offers a huge choice of nearly 1.
A HUGE choice of nearly 1!!

More choices than Bioware has ever allowed. :smug:

Metro 2033 has amazing graphics and atmosphere at times but that's about it. The controls feel really awkward and clunky as was already mentioned, it's got a low-ass FOV that makes the game hard to play, it's buggy as hell and has really awful AI, and the story, voice acting etc. are laughable. It's worth $5 easily but I have trouble going back to play it for even five minutes, just owing to all its little issues.

Duke Nukem Forever worth $10?

Also, Jagged Alliance 2 for $6.80 right now. Cheaper than GoG.

Ended up getting that DLC for free due to the Borderlands "Duke Nukem first access club" thing, but $10 for DNF doesn't seem worth it. I do see there are achievements for a new upcoming DLC singleplayer campaign though, you get to fight Dr Proton.

Maybe if DNF is $7.50 including singleplayer DLC during the Christmas sale I'll grab it.

Yeah I had access to that club thing but can't remember if I registered it.

I bought Metro 2033 when it was €2,50 on Monday, and beat it in 8 hours on the Ranger Hardcore difficulty.

I guess it is to STALKER what BioShock is to System Shock 2: a flashier, more "polished" and streamlined game, fit for the refined tastes of console gamers, but lacking the substance of its predecessor. In Metro you don't have to worry about managing your inventory and its wide assortment of items and equipment, or about finding your way around an open and unpredictable world, because now you don't have an inventory and the game is literally on rails and you get a scripted scene shoved up your ass at least once every five minutes.

Still, not a bad waste of time for €2,50. It's a decent enough rail shooter, but when I played it I just kept thinking about how STALKER does almost everything better.

Red Faction series on sale today, but I don't think I'll buy anything. These days I won't buy even a dirt cheap game unless I'm sure I want to play it.

As a couple of us mentioned it's more STALKER funneled through a Half Life 2 sieve. Only thing I'm considering today is original Red Faction but after watching parts of a Let's Play it's apparently only 3-4 hours long tops. Rather just grab Darksiders if it's $5 again.

I'm tempted to pick up RF:A for $12.50, worth it?

I haven't played but everything I see of it leads me to believe it's just another over-the-shoulder console shooter. I guess if you liked Guerrilla you'll like this~

I got bored with Guerrilla, it was OK but nothing that kept my interest for more then a few hours. So this is or isn't the same thing?

I was also bored with Guerrila, pretty much the same case of loading it a few times for the novelty factor, playing a bunch of hours then never picking it up again. I think I lost interest somewhere around the second or third map.

The original, on the other hand, was great fun at the time. Not sure if I'd replay it now though.

Armageddon is nothing like Guerrilla. I imagine the conversation at THQ went something like this:

"Hey, so, everyone really liked the sandbox gameplay and environmental destruction in Guerrilla, right? So maybe we'll just do more of that, build on it a bit..."

"Actually, I have a better idea. How about instead of that, we scale back the destruction and turn the game into a linear corridor shooter with an insipid storyline, unlikeable characters and bad shooting gameplay that feels like a poor man's Gears of War on a good day? And for shits and giggles, let's introduce a revolutionary game mechanic, only to completely ignore any gameplay effect it could otherwise have to differentiate the game from other shooters!"

"Gentlemen, you've done it again."

In short, it fucking sucks. Don't buy it.

Well, take away the destruction/sandbox aspect of Guerilla (which I didn't really find all that interesting after the first couple of explosions) and it's fairly linear and Gears of War-ish to boot. Yeah, there are open spaces, but it's GTA type of 'freedom.' Having to repeat missions, regenerating health, cover mechanics... no thanks.

So, let me revise my initial statement: If you hate Armageddon then you should hate Guerrilla.

At least Guerrilla let me smash through buildings in a goddamn mech, had little side quests and challenges to do (which were actually, you know, challenging), and its combat was always more about crowd control and using the environment against enemies than popping moles. Fact is that they had a really strong base for a cool follow-up and completely blew it.

So apparently I get this Derp Nerk'ems DLC code for free from owning Borderlands. Going to try to trade it to some rube for something.

Red Faction Armageddon will surely get cheaper in time, but I think I'll probably pick it up at this price anyway. $14 including the DLC seems alright. I realize it's a corridor shooter instead of sandboxy like Guerrilla, but I've got a soft spot for corridor shooting anyway. Should be way better than DNF for shootfuns per dollar. Maybe Rage? Not sure.

Why do retards call Guerilla "sandbox"?

Tell me what exactly can I create on that map?

I can kill permanent respawns even in corridor shooters

So I was banned for a week from Steam forums for having the audacity to put a trade thread in the game's forum in addition to the trade forum. Overkill much?
