Has anyone played Titan Quest? All the videos I've seen are shit and dull but I'd really like a game set in ancient Greece and about Greek mythology.

I enjoyed it for a playthrough, all those somewhat satisfying arpg concepts: levelling (and related powers) and loot.

Probably wouldn't rush to play it again, but think its better then torchlight.

The art's pretty nice, and was a bit of work done on the mythology.

not sure how it would've done without the expansion.

I kinda had fun with it but I played it right after finishing Lionheart so I dunno :/

Pros:
- It is pretty
- Nice music
- Lots of different enemy models
- Cool leveling system with combinations of different paths and shit
- The setting, though I'm sure it mangles it horribly

Cons:
- Linear as fuck, basically a corridor diablo clone
- Almost no variety in enemy behavior, cat dudes or centaurs, they all feel the same, expansion is a little better
- Pretty easy

Guess you have to ask yourself how desperate you are for a action rpg...

Agreed with this re: Titan Quest. The only thing it really has going for it is the elaborate character system which allows for a wide variety of builds and synergy in multi-player. Unfortunately, I find the game utterly dull and soulless. The quests/atmosphere aren't very engaging... even for a loot driven ARPG. It's basically just massive open space after massive open space filled with hordes of enemies. I've tried to play it multiple times and never could get past two or three hours.

I'll forget about it then

How come there are no RPGs set in ancient Rome, Greece or even further back, Egypt or Mesopotamia :x

I know there are Celtic Kings and Nethergate but aren't they kind of shit? The former too RTSey and the latter too...Vogel? And also I mean less of an indie nature.

Speaking of which, Nethergate original vs. Ressurrectio. Which is better and why?

So far I've only bought Risen because I already have pretty much everything worth getting (and I don't want to spend like $25 on LA Noire). I played the demo of Risen a while back and was unimpressed with the shitty tutorialising and voice acting (it was the game intro) but after hearing all the good things people have said about it and sinking a day's play-time into it, I've had a ton of fun. Good quest design with solid writing, nice game world that doesn't feel copy-paste and isn't overly large or overly compressed, great difficulty curve and sense of progression across combat, quest design and character abilities, and some of the best action-RPG combat I've ever played. It's so rare to see an action-RPG that really nails both the action and the RPG side, and doesn't resort to crap like HP bloat to make enemies challenging. Definitely worth the price paid and I almost feel bad for overlooking it so long.

The original Nethergate > Resurrection. Too many neat things (iirc food, some skills, blessing pools, etc.) were lost in the remake.

Eh, it's pretty good for what it is - a Diablo clone set in the ancient mythology world. It's not terribly deep or anything, but it's not exactly easy either, Normal aside. On Epic and Legendary it gets fairly tough, especially if multiplayed. If you like clicking stuff to death and enjoyed Torchlight, you should like this more. Conversely, if you don't, then best to skip this.

Also, while mythology is there, it's more of flavour stuff than anything, so you're basically a Bethesdan hero without a horse, killing ancient stuff.

Sadly in a true PB tradition it all goes down the drain in the last third of the game.

Went down the drain sooner for me since the world was so nicely crafted that I went on an exploration spree still in Chapter 1. Kinda lowered my options in Chapter 2, conversely.

Still, it's worth it just for the whole "explore a hand-crafted island" aspect alone, in my opinion. And the trolls at low level.

So it crashed before you could even log into paypal and send the money? I've had that happen a few times, restarting/clearing the cart should fix it, you haven't actually paid for anything at that point, but steam thinks you're busy paypaling them moneys. Check with paypal or steam if you don't want to take any chances off course, though it usually works out in my experience. But If it crashed after agreeing to pay, check if you got a confirmation email from steam or paypal or if it shows up in your games library, and if not def get on their help lines.

since my fallout: new vegas steam adventure i swear by paysafecards. finally a financial product that has my consent!

so what happened ? what's wrong with buying FO:NV and being in germany professor raw?

steam decided i am not old enough for exploding heads. :smug: they sell a "low violence version" here; the localization is abyssmal and it's incompatible with mods.
