You still seem to be avoiding the Paladin issue, which was the crux of the discussion. Saying Zoomer 17 times per second doesn't actually change the fact that you're talking out your ass.

Let's get serious for a moment. What is more important, paladin strength in Ultima Underworld, or arrogant wokeshit commie fuckshit zoomer SJWs? Think about it.

The fact that you don't see the zoomer cunts killing gaming with their wokeshit arrogance is very telling to me. That was the only thing I wanted to draw out of you the second you started defending the zoomer who admitted himself that he has never played the game, but condescendingly acts like he knows all about it.

Oh, I see "zoomer cunts killing gaming with their wokeshit" all around me. No denial on that front.

But I'm also seeing a mentally deficient person right in front of me being consumed by his mental illnesses while living in Plato's cave. You have real fucking issues in your head, and I see no reason why the rest of us should suffer from them.

We have a real problem with outsiders infiltrating places they have no purpose in being, but let's keep the real problems away from the imagined ones.

To recap: You made a statement, he said it was false. He backed that up with evidence. I tested his evidence, and found it to be true. No one has disputed his evidence, nor my confirmation, except you, and you have not provided any evidence to back up your claim, except a last-ditch effort to provide evidence to a statement that wasn't part of the original accusation of falsehood.

Have GoG updated it with the mouselook mod etc? I'd buy from them more often if they cared about incorporating more mods and fixes to the older games, and if they kept an eye on such things.. that would be a really nice service. i understand its not always possible if a mod is old and they can't get hold of the person etc...

I liked it when it was new, obviously. No idea what i would think today. It's one of the PC games i have fondest memories of though.

well of course it does, it's how it was made, i finished the game fine with those controls some 28-29 years ago. If i want to play it again i do want the best experience though, and mouselook would certainly make the controls somewhat better. I see now that there's no UW2.exe to patch with GoG release. Odd...

Do i remember correctly that you could make the screen almost full screen too, i mean where the graphics takes place, and hide the UI? Perhaps that was some other game..

If it's the same version I have, the one which includes both UUW games, the exe files are actually inside "game.gog", which is an iso file with a different extension. Once you run the game via the icon it places on your desktop, it just somehow looks in there for the necessary files.

Which is a bit of a pain in the ass if you're trying to apply some patch or hack to the exe. What you must do is this:

- rename "game.gog" to "game.iso"
- open up iso file, extract the contents into some directory
- patch the exe file(s)
- create a new iso file, also named "game.iso", with the contents of the directory (now patched)
- rename it "game.gog"
- replace original game.gog with the new one (back up the original one first)

Now you should be able to click on the dektop icon for the game and have it work with the changes.

Many thanks for the instructions! Will try it out :)

Unfortunately GOG has gone down the shitter as a storefront. They’ve basically completely stopped supporting anything that’s not a current release. I have a ton of games sitting in my account that won’t run or are a pain in the ass to run on my Windows 10 machine, and GOG has made it clear that they have no interest in making them Win10 compatible themselves. They also do lazy/weird shit like Arrowgrab is talking about with bundled games that make it difficult to apply patches or mods. And then there is the monstrous piece of bloat ware that is the (thankfully still optional) Galaxy platform.
I will say that mouselook in UUW, while definitely a convenience, makes the game extremely easy. It’s not as though the combat was ever really all that difficult though, and if you already know the puzzles/artifact locations it’s a pretty breezy game anyway.

I try to fully support GOG over Steam because of the DRM issue, but my gaming laptop is a linux laptop. When I download a linux game through GOG, the website gives a list of instructions so I can manually download files and install them to get the games to run. It fails nearly half the time I follow their instructions and try to run a linux game, and then I have to spend time trying to troubleshoot the issue. By contrast, Steam will fully install a linux-compatible game on that laptop and always runs. So yeah, I love GOG but I feel that it doesn't love me back.

I finished Stygian Abyss yesterday! Great game, I'll definitely replay it. I finished it with as a Fighter, after restarting several times with different classes (I suffer from Chronic Restarter Syndrome). I'll probably try out Mage or Druid next time.

I immediately started Labyrinth of Worlds after, as a Paladin. Hope it's just as good or better.

It has a few UI/gameplay improvements, but the biggest shift is that it's far more heavily tied into the main Ultima-series. If you're not familiar with them, you may miss out on some stuff (especially in the castle).

Otherwise it's just as amazing as Stygian Abyss... just in a different manner.

Yes, I noticed a lot of these "What have you done this past year" dialogue options that references stuff I have no clue about.

The jumping mechanics seem more forgiving than in the first game. I like that. I'm not a graphics type of guy, but I do think the textures look prettier than in the first game.

Yeah, IIRC they boasted of having a 30% larger viewscreen AND things not being so damn pixelated when seen up-close back when the game was new.

To be precise, the storyline for the Ultima series goes (at this point) Ultima 7 Black Gate -> Ultima Underworld 2 -> Ultima 7 Serpent Isle.

So there are a LOT of references to Ultima 7 characters and their actions (many characters in the castle come straight from there, with the exception of Fissif) but there are also references to the (at-the-time) unreleased Serpent Isle. But that only applies in the castle. Once you explore further, you'll find... things... that are unrelated to all things Ultima in general.

The only thing you need to know (and this is completely optional) about what most characters in the castle will tell you, is...

The kid ain't Carrocio's, it's British. ;)

Here's a tip with some very slight spoilers.

Don't go through the academy too early. I ended up doing this before I had the item
Altara's sceptre
to actually do what I was supposed to do, and I would had to redo the whole level, but I dropped the game instead. If I remember correctly you can aquire moonstones which is essentially a "mark and recall" spell which might be useful to place at the end of the level in case you go there too early.

I'm going through this now and I understand what you mean. In the first trial I was stuck for a while because I couldn't see the
pressure plates in the floor.
Don't worry though, I have the Licorice Lollipop.

Maybe EA is gonna remaster them like with CnC. I'd like to see them be given to Nightdive for a Kex Engine source port like with System Shock. I brought the idea up to Stephen Kick once.

If the games have been handed off to another team outside of EA like Nightdive, then I'd like to see their plans. But if EA is doing something similar in-house, I'd rather prefer that they don't bother.

EA handled the C&C Remaster extremely well by EA standards so who knows what could happen if they're doing their own UU and Syndicate remasters.
