VC Team was involved with Skies of Arcadia so this was likely early concept that was discarded as I dont recall Skies of Arcadia or Sakura Wars having non-humans.

Edit:

Now I think about it, it does explain a certain thing pretty well if it was done back when it was beastman.

The game is quite fun and the missions actually got some genuine challenge to them. I like. But all the bullshit in between. Why? Why does it have to be this juvenile? I'm literally cringing my way through each cutscene. What the hell is wrong with these people writers?

I really think there's a secret cabal that enforces beach episodes on everything anime. There's no other explanation...
Swimsuits, feet. You know either this and beach episode, or tied up and naked episode.

And what would you consider non juvenile? Gadget Trial? Well we had discussion about evil dolphins and weapons of mass destruction, also we had accusation of attempt to fail mission on purpose to see BIG explosions, Gigatone range explosions from strategic weapons, caused by escalation of war by failing mission on purpose.

Also there were examples of special forces grade field cooking. (Word beetles can have strange meaning.)

Hardly, its for merch ... if I recall swimsuits designs were already done before the anime, they were already planning figurines sales ... this isnt exactly new as this is how most companies made money from, merch.

Also as a note, the character designer in VC was Raita ... go look at what he does.

Sure there are some tropes but exposition and characters are well done. Generally theme of the game is rather lighthearted with serious stuff being mostly in background.

If anything most of the game rally on actions not on some bullcrap sob story cinematics. Welkin being nerd also helps a lot compared to 99% jrpgs games out there featuring emo kids.

Welkin is probably the most succesful depiction of a nerd sperglord in vidyagaem history.

Three to six incredible lame story cinematics in between each mission is not relying on bullshit story cinematics? Fucking hell. It is childish, it is lame and it is incredibly cringeworthy. Perhaps that's just par the course for Jap entertainment though. At least the actual missions and customisations are fun.

Gotta love the Nips for mix'n'matching every Euro thing in this. And dear god, that bird speech really was horrible. I wonder how the voice actor managed to keep his voice level while recording it :D

Stupid that tanks have a weak spot but at least rifle fire even there does almost no damage. Should do zero damage but oh well. Runs veeeeery slowly on my rig but does run.

Traditional "My computer barely can run this thing" chunky slow or does it look like true slow-mo? If it's the latter try disabling V-sync.

All I know about the second game is that it's set in a military academy (i.e. a high school), and that it's worse than the first game.

The action screen runs in slo-mo but whole game seems somewhat slow. I think my v-sync is off but I'll double-check and test both ways. Same with the framerate limiter.

Because M&MX was a brand new release that needed to recoup its losses, while Valkyria Chronicles is a port of a six year old game that's had barely any marketing behind it?

Not like that AAA and highly promoted M&MX

I guess I am kinda just like... Steam isn't actually that big is it? I remember being surprised that Shovel Knight sold way more copies on Nintendos

Vyse and Malville ;_;7

They held the line. ;_;7

The witch will burn. Our bros will never be forgotten.
there are rules for losing vyse or aika. you now have to finish the original dreamcast skies of arcadia (not one of the remakes with reduced encounter rate)... or suffer the consequences...
