Disable steam cloud, I think the game will use it otherwise and of course its shit.

Whether your save is actually lost or steam will conjure it up at some point is anyone's guess.

Yeah? Why would that be a problem? I use the cloud for other games that I play on both desktop and laptop. I don't do that with VC though.

Anyway, doesn't work.

I didn't say it would work. I said you were using steam cloud before, your save was in the cloud and now its gone. You're probably not getting it back, but future saves will remain on your machine where steam can't lose them.

Probably not going to replay 15 hours worth of this, hence my asking for a refund. Thanks for the help just the same.

If its on your computer then it's corrupt or something I guess. Is it 2768 KB?

Multiple save slots next time.

I noticed scouts seeming to die faster, but couldn't tell if it was because I was used to max-level armor.

In any case defensive orders on them are still OP. Like it matters if the enemy shoots faster when they only deal 1 damage a shot.

I did notice that my units received much more damage than I remember from machine gun interception fire. So that's the reason?

Can't say I mind that. Cheese rushes are harder this way and that's not a bad thing. And I'm not talking only about scouts rushes, but I've also been forced to execute better ambushes with lancers, especially against medium tanks, rather than simply bum rushing and firing at the radiator at point blank.

There also seems to be some delay when you press E to enter command mode, so that the enemy manages to get a few extra shots in that normally shouldn't register.

Finished mission 7 last night. Wound up with alot more wounded than I would've liked (fucking Selveria can snipe your guys from halfway across the fucking map, shit's ridiculous), but managed to get out with no losses.

That's something I've noticed too.

Combine that with automatic weapons interception fire being more lethal at 60FPS and it's no wonder trying to get behind medium tanks inside the range of ther rear machine guns with a lancer is suicide now if you have to take more than a few steps without cover.

I'm liking what I read here, but how good is this game, really? Compared to Front Mission, Jagged Alliance, Fire Emblem, how deep is the character customization, the choices, the secrets, the difficulty? I imagine the story sucks and is linear but I would like to know if everything else is top tier.

Practically no character customisation. You level up based on classes so everyone in that class will level equally. Characters have preset traits that can also be unlocked through usage. The only customisation is choosing different weapons, and the choice is between slightly more accurate gun, slightly more damaging gun, gun that is worse but has a neat effect, captured enemy gun that is utterly terrible, or reward gun that is generally better then anything else.

The tanks have more customisation in their loadouts and upgrades, but are generally pointless as you only get to choose between buffing tread armour, tread health, accuracy, more mortar shells, or defence for your weak radiator.

The combat is still pretty fun though.

Ya, the game doesn't really excel in any specific aspect of simulation or choices. The fun rides primarily on the very unique combat system with some interesting levels to back it up.

Yea, I really don't get the talk about sneaking past Shocktroopers not being dangerous... they absolutely murder any scout that gets caught in their fire. The same with tanks. Thankfully that works both ways.

Yeah, found mission 7 was alot easier than the first time I played it on the PS3 a few years ago, primarily because I got Rosie in the trench opposite where the enemy spawns both times, and she'd just shoot to pieces absolutely anybody and everybody who ran past, since the AI kept 'thinking' it could make it through that gap without getting killed. Got cut to ribbons not too long afterwards by Selveria, for sure, but she was alot more manageable.

Scouts get a Resist Crossfire potential. Combined with Defense order they're basically immune to damage unless they step on a mine. For more fun, give them one of the Edy Skirmish DLC weapons. They can almost one shot tanks when hitting the radiator.

I avoid cheesing main missions but it's a nice way to A rank skirmishes quickly.
