I actually like that Twitcher 2 will be more action orientated.

As Vibalist pointed out , it's story and atmosphere that matters in TWitcher

ME2 is an Action RPG. Only a moran would call it a flat out shooter.

The first Witcher wasn't a good game because of the combat mechanics or because it featured heaps of alternatives to combat anyway. It was an action adventure game with RPG elements and should have been branded as such

You are right. The iritating part is that they keep calling it a 'hardcore RPG' justfying it as 'we make RPGs, so RPGs today are the games which are like those we make'.

People are acting surprised. Did they think the sequel would be more hardcore than the first?

The first Witcher game's combat couldn't be worse. Even if this one is less 'RPG' it can still be worlds better than the first game.

Hmm, TWitcher 2 will be a write off then. Had thought naively that CDProjekt would push on in the opposite direction, but with cunts like this in charge they just want to become another Bioware.
Like that's something new. Damn, you're pretty slow.

Yeah, what Rhalle said.

WTF are you even bitching about people I don't even

Is Twitcher 1 turn-based sophisticated combat game? NO!
Does it have extensive character customization? NO!

The only things that were cherished here in codex by some people include: mature setting, relatively good story, some C&C and good dialog lines (Potato version).

That guy Gop or smth, didn't give any impressions that these parts will be dumbed down. In fact, he is putting stress on the importance of the story. Setting doesn't change. C&C have been hyped to the hyperlevel as well (flowchart about story pathways, number of endings etc.). As for dialogs we will just have to wait.

WTF people? Did you expect TB combat, isometric view and hundreds of stats?

Only question is, if the game is cRPG at all. But the same goes for TWitcher1.

That's a pretty tiny bust, yo...

I was expecting something that was at least face-fuckable (with proper modification).

Combat is more spectacular. The means to express it is just to make it real-time. Previously combat was more turn-based. We don't have turn-based combat right now. It's a better means of expression.
If turn-based combat games somehow sold millions of copies I think we'd read:
Combat is spectacular, true. But the means to express it is to make it turn-based. Previously combat was in real-time. We don't have real-time right now. It's a better means of expression.
And then he'd go on about stragetic planning and tactical choices and the fact that turn-based combat allows for parties, enriching the whole experience even more. And he'd be right.

As for real-time combat: Yes, indeed it is a better means of expressing your need to make a game that millions of people in the world want to buy.

There will be boob cards, right?

I finished the first game yesterday: it sucks at combat, it sucks at almost every fucking quest of running up and down; but if the game achieves something, it will be emulating the ROLE of Geralt in the novels.

I don't want to say that the game isn't pretty lame; what I want to mean is that a RPG is a ROLE playing game. That part of ROLE is the important thing here, not estatistics or turn based combat... hell, you can even roleplay without combat.

Might want to be careful with that line of logic... lest the ROLE of master chief line resurface.

The genre will be left with predefined PCs but customizable apperance, unlimited inventories and UIs with gigantic fonts and icons (or maybe no menus like in Fable 3, who knows), quest compass with on-screen reminders a la MMOs and cutscenes for dialogues. Oh, and of course multiple romance-able NPCs.

Haven't yet tried Mass Effect? :smug:

I now completely understand the hate for newfags around here.

No, they decided to ditch them in favour of cutscenes, ME/DA style. And I think it needs a clarification: I'm not trolling, that's really what the devs said. :(

May I recommend you Doom, my personal favorite when it comes to RPGs? That game really captures the feel of what being a lone space marine, trapped among bloodthirsty demons on Mars with no escape and no backup, would be like. As I'm sure everyone here will agree, this kind of immersion is absolutely vital for destroying the border between the player and the protagonist, which is undoubtedly the ultimate goal of role-playing games.
