The controls are bad even with a controller. It has the GTA4/5 problem of "realistic" movement and momentum that makes it sluggish and unresponsive to control, except the animations are worse in Wild Hunt so it still looks unnatural moving around.

Bros, I started playing... and the game took a dive deep into fan fiction territory literally in the first scene. Yennefer was never at Kaer Morhen at the same time as Ciri. Critical lore failure. Game ruined. 0/10. Decline. Etc.

I am going back to PoE.

EDIT: Also my Geralt has his tattoo from The Witcher 2. Except this scene is supposed to take place YEARS before The Witcher 2.

Game of the year my arse.

As soon as that tutorial part is over it turns out to be a dream. With Geralt specifically saying she was never in Kaer Morhen.
Okay, that makes more sense.

Anyway, game feels a bit sluggish. On high. On my ancient toaster of a machine. Amazing I can get it to look this good. On slightly lower settings it plays nice. They certainly once again nailed the atmosphere that the first Witcher had and which I loved. Folksy. Small villages teeming with ignorant peasants who might or might not pay you to hunt and kill their vermin for them. The attention to detail in the world is stunning. Plus I love the average person's attitude towards Geralt.
I gave up on trying to run it at 60 FPS, and went for rock stable 30 FPS on my GTX 680. Seems to work pretty well.

How close is this to GTA4 in terms of being utter shite?

I remember uninstalling GTA4 after literally like 2 minutes with the keyboard + mouse controls.

Playing it now since approximatly ~ 4 hours.
Performance on my GTX 770 on high to max. details is good thus far (except for the opening sequence).
Controls suck, as do the crazy colors.
But apart from that I'm pretty much satisfied until now.
Has anyone any info on if there's monster respawn? I'd hate that!

* chicks are hot
* combat is abysmal
* encounters are abysmal
* story and characters are alright so far

was expecting shitty 3rd person skyrim. this game is more like... Risen 2. but with worse combat and decent writing.

EDIT: RIDDLED WITH BUGS THO
the most annoying one being
"getting into combat, sword disappearing"
and
"getting into combat, not being able to use weapons or spells"

and the riding sucks balls

EDIT 2:
also there's no way to use ranged weapon. key mapping doesn't have a button for it.
(i know it's there somewhere?? but can't find it)

Omfg, 3/4 of your guys moaning doesn't make any sense, just focus on the fucking game. And learn to use dodge button, combat is more acceptable then. It's really hard to read such retarded bullshit. PC controlls are not optimized but combat is much better then in TW2, youn actually got to learn it.

This game is really oddly optimized.

I spent my whole day playing this thing at my native resolution (1680x1050), but i decided to check out how the game is truly supposed to look like, so i upped the resolution to 2650x1600 (upscaled). To my surprise i noticed no FPS hit! WTF lol. The difference in image quality is gigantic.

Zaatakował ich białowłosy potwór. Skoczył na nich z muru. Z wysokości, z
której niepodobna było skoczyć, nie łamiąc nóg.
Niepodobna było wylądować
miękko, zawirować w umykającym oczom piruecie i w ułamku sekundy zabić. Ale
białowłosy potwór dokonał tego. I zaczął zabijać.

Well one thing is for sure - this game is NOT a hiking simulator. It's not potato Skyrim. The scenery is not very inventive, at least in the first region, and afaik there are just 3 basic places of interest you can discover - a place of power, a monster nest and some kind of treasure. Plus it's annoying there's no unexplored fog kindda feature so you can't see where you've been. Plus the minimap is too small and you gotta scour the map really thoroughly to not miss anything.

And I like the combat. Definitely more than W2 and defifuckinately more than W1. The hardest difficulty is mandatory tho. I started on the second hardest and it's a joke since you don't need any potions, oils or even upgrades. You just roflstomp everything. I beat the level 7 wraith in like 10 seconds on the second hardest diff. Liked the first boss fight as well.

By far the biggest star of the game is the writing and voice acting. It just crushes hands down everything that's been done so far in the AAA business.

And oh yeah, the fucking controls are getting on my nerves more and more.

Holy fucking shit dude. Do you stand by that statement or is this just disappointment induced hyperbole?

Runs like crap....not that I expected to max it or anything but even messing with the settings a ton (reducing resoltion to max etc) frame rates don't really improve....Game behaves really weird as far as optimizations go....

Thank god I leeched this...

Dear Bethesda,

CDPR made an open world game so mind-numbingly easy that level-scaling is unnecessary. It's also about riding around on a horse and killing things. You should sue those fuckers for IP infringement.

Well played a bit. Sluggish movement, the combat can be fun when I practice a bit.
I also feel that this game strains my eyes, I get tired. Don't know why, but I think it has something to do with the foliage, and I must say a lot of that doesn't look that good. I can also be because of FOV, but a mod for that is already here, haven't tried it though.

I find that the graphics is a bit to plastic looking,
Hope many of these things will be fixed with patches..

it would be cool if people reacted more to what you do. Like you see a soldier warming himself up on a campfire and you extinguish the fire the soldier will do... nothing, he is stuck in his "warming up on the fire" animation and doesn't react. that's a bit sad.

I love how invoking dark souls is supposed to mean something, as if it set standards for... anything.

Other than DkS2 having the best combat system of any ARPG fucking ever, yeah I'm inclined to agree with you.

Just downloaded the shave & haircut mod. Given that the game seems quite unpolished, it's not a surprise it was cut from the main release.

So. DAI - Potato version?

Heh, this was exactly my impression. It's Polish Dragon Age Inquisition. There's so much inane dialogue, and the combat is messy and.. unattractive. The game is kinda repulsive.

Did you really not understand that it was a fucking dream? Or is this supposed to be hilarious trolling?
