For people who played farther than me. I get swalow refilled by having dwarven spirit in the inventory, do I also get dwarven spirit refilled when I have empty bottles? which means unlimited swallow?

Depends on how many "E" you press...

So cdpr is still in love with JC Denton's VA?
The game is mediocre. I do get the sense that the series should have remained linear TW2 had a great story driven linear format which i much appreciated. Why would you put sandbox elements into a story driven game that isnt GTA? White ochards quest could have been contained in a much smalet area. The griffon fight was nice but the dragon fights in TW2 were more memorable. Aside from doing quests and poi there's no real reason to explore especially with the apoplectic control scheme and physics. Key binding is awful. I can't rebInd dodge without losing jump. The writing has taken a huge nosedive. Meeting the emperor greets you with childish and awkwardly written dialogue.the writing lacks the acerbic yet cautiously defiant retorts of characters like filter and roche. Im also not a fan of love triangles but I honestly suffer fromantic waif guilt Yen isn't nearly as hot or as interesting as Triss but those outfits are nice. One thing that's always attracted me to the series are the costumes. Ves in TW2 had a tight flirtatious outfit that accentuated her assets without being needlessly risqué and Roche as well as many of the available armors were also meticulously detailed. Texture resolution seems to also be off. TW2 might have used larger tedtures than this release from the things appear on screen at ultra.

Can anyone else confirm hairworks simulation with AMD tesselation settings With the griffon fight?

Scratch that, this game is garbage, the repair feature is actually disincentivizing melee attacks and promoting rollerdodge magic spamming. Not to mention it seems that instead of adding new skills and abilities to Geralts repitoire they just nerfed the skill tress so that youre merely just regaining efficiency for the same basic moves and attacks from previous games. I hope the story is worth it.

So no level scaling... but they account for that by not allowing you to level unless you do the main quest. Brilliant.

Eh, it's not as bad as you think. In my game, Geralt is level 10 while the main quest arc I'm on is still "Rec level: 6" so side-quests do add up. A side-quest + combat involved nets you about 100 exp and you need 1000 exp each level. There are enough side quests in an area to get a couple of levels ahead of the main quest. The game also does encourage going back to areas because you get these absurdly out-of-depth encounters at times, but I'm not sure how I feel about that.

The exploration aspect, at least for me, is severly hindered by the fact that since you see the places you have no real incentive to explore. Of course you could switch that off ut in the back of your head you know they are there and only on the marked areas is something to explore, and in the most cases its not worthwhile. Which means no exploring of the big rest because you know nothing of interest can be found there. To top that shiot off the whole map can be seen from the start which means for me I have no real way of knowing what I explored and where I have not looked. Then theres the special place marker you have on the map, the one you can set bt you have no option to type in stuff (or I am dumb and have not noticed it). Either way they fucked up their big world by implementing systems that actually discourage you to explore.

Played Witcher 1 right up to the end when the plot jumped the shark and I lost interest.
Played Witcher 2 for a couple of hours until I got bored and the combat made me watch to scream.
Will play Witcher 3 in a couple of years when it's sufficiently discounted after watching a LP of W2 to find out what happened. Is every game from now until the end of time going to be a Ultima 9 on steroids? Save me, SitS.

I'll tell you when they fix it so it doesn't fucking crash or freeze every 30 minutes.
I'd like to know what the fuck they were polishing for those extra 5 months, because it sure as fuck wasn't the PC version.

So far yes. It's definitely closer to TW1 than TW2 was, especially when it comes to the locations and the pacing. I also like how the story seems less linear than TW2 and structured more like in TW1, with many leads that you can pursue which may later branch into multiple separate quest lines.

I guess one thing that it lacks is the "intimacy" of TW1, which was more or less inevitable since they went for an open world. The villages feel rather distant and you don't get very deep into their politics, often just solving a monster problem or two and then moving on, rarely even talking to anyone except quest givers and merchants. Then again, it's still quite early in the game and I haven't met many familiar characters yet.

Really, the fuck were you expecting?
What imaginary game did you have in your mind when you fired this game up?
When the media blitz started a month or two ago everyone could see what the game gonna be like.

Edit: This witcher senses thingy is very similar to Assassin's Creed Unity's investigations/murder mysteries, only Unity did it a bit better, IMO.

Very edgy and very retarded. Every single side quest I've had WAS interesting in some way. Tells you more about the lore, about the world, makes you make moral decisions, puts you against some unique monsters, helps you to explore new areas....why are you even playing games?

And by the way - following trails is just a crotch for casuals. You don't really have to do it. Just explore the map, take in hints, draw your own conclusions.

Ah yes, the repairs system. One of my main annoyances with the game.

For those who don't have the game yet: Witcher 3 decided it was a great idea - it never is, unless you're trying to prevent currency inflation in MMOs - to introduce a moneysink in the form of gear repair. Weapons take damage every time you land a hit. Armor takes damage every time you get hit.

In other games, this isn't normally a big deal. Gear in WoW, Diablo, etc. usually degrade at a pretty slow rate and only break when they get to 0 durability, such that by the time you absolutely need to repair, you've usually found an improvement.

Not so in Witcher 3. Welcome to having to repair your sword every 20 minutes because it loses 10% durability from one engagement with 5 bandits, and losing durability actually lowers its damage.

Welcome to the GUI telling you your swords "need repairs" for the majority of the game because they hit ~50% durability, which happens after 2-3 engagements.

Welcome to spending a tub of money on repairs each time you go to the blacksmith because merchants buy your loots at 1/10th the worth but charge you full for repairs.

Ok, whoever said there's no combat XP is a moron. I just leveled up after killing a pack of level 1 wolves. Just watch the XP bar as you kill shit, geezus fuck.
Is that the story mission with the gay hunter?
I did like 4 sidequests, completed 1 treasure hunt and cleared some POIs against lv4-lv7 beasts and got like 200 xp in total.
Lol, no i'm way past that. Random wolves in random location.

Sitrep, 12 hours in.

Just finished the first very rough exploration of the Novigrad area, including Novigrad itself. I desperately needed a blacksmith that's gonna be skilled enough to craft me a new silver sword. Man, on the Death March difficulty you gotta constantly hunt for upgrades. Makes your life so much easier. Anyway, found a master blacksmith and he'll craft me a new sword - right after I do this side quest for him. Recommended level 24. Me, level 4. Shit.

So back to the wilderness and hunting for blacksmiths. (There may be a bug, the Serpentine Silver sword should be craftable by Amateur blacksmith but the stupid dwarf in White Orchard can't craft shit.) Finally I found one in Oxenfurt, tucked right in the corner of the town. Almost overlooked him. So now, with my new silver baby, dem higher level drowners here I come. (Five minutes later got my ass kicked to a pulp.)

Despite all the technical shit, this game is awesome and the haters can lick my bellend clean. :smug:

:hmmm: really? what about those quests for witchers school equipment? what about those fucking unique places which are just fucking treasure chest surrounded by 4 drowners/bandits?what about those immersive as fuck quests which are triggered by reading a fucking letter? its DAI fetch quests level. Only fucking shards are missing thanks fucking god

how the fuck am i supposed to come to my own conclusions you fucking retard if i have to click on trails to trigger a cutscene or hear geralt monologue? there is no input from players side just follow the steps like a retard.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The game got a lot better when you meet the Baron. Story-wise at least. The game finally feels like it has started - you have purpose all of sudden, and the Baron himself is an interesting character. Also it's a base of operation since you will return to the Barons town several times. You get time to familiar yourself with the area and town. Instead of just running through it like almost everything else on the map.

The game would be a-lot better if you just could turn off the "interest" notification on the map. Since it seems if a house or something like that doesn't have a question mark nothing of interest will be found there. It kills all natural exploration. I know you can turn it off on the minimap, but it still shows up on the main map :( Even if you don't use the main-map that much you kinda remember if an area is void of interesting stuff.

Agreed, I've always hated the repair mechanics. But here it's not that bad. You don't lose 10 percent in one engagement. And higher-end items degrade much slower. Plus you're finding upgrades reasonably fast. In my 12 hours I've had one prompt to fix my shit. One. But it IS mildly annoyning and mods should repairz it.

From your esteemed opinions Komrades and Trannies I take its :decline: of Witcher series? Shit being console port, low XP for anything which is not Main quest, larger but more shallow world, useless gimmicks like gear degradation; less tits and more wooden dialogues etc... with only combat being a bit better but fracked by clunky X-box Controls?
Was not expecting wonders from Skyrim clone and killer but I am :smug: about the decision to not preorder Teacher 3. Maybe they will make more linear story driven TW4 next or some smaller spin off game with other protagonists using polished engine from second part if game will sell well. Time will tell but I am begging to see how they morph into Potato Bethpizda. (Company interested only profit and doing games for kuce and gimbusy)
