Speaking of, imagine CDPR signing up Cavil for the role of a new Witcher character. There is a massive marketing win
Tomek Baginski, CDPR aparatchik in Witcher series production, agreed with removing Cavill from the series, and called replacement "lore accurate".
Cavill seemed to care more about staying true to Witcher lore than Baginski and CDPR.
Never say never, but I wouldn't hold my breath for Cavill and CDPR to collaborate again.

Nigger last thing he did for them was witcher 3 teaser trailer from 2013

I knew a guy who worked with Bagiński.
And he mentioned once that Bagiński unironically thinks that movies like "Transformes" are peak art. Supposedly, it's some kind contrarian reaction caused by dreary depressing Polish cinema.

I know the guy in real life, he's a nerd that is very into 3D animation/movies.

Yes. He got onboard with the franchise exactly with Witcher 3, so he is likely very much in tune with CDPR's direction. If they sign him on, which seems quite a logical thing to at least try on their part, and they let him bring his ideas to the character, the way they let Keanu do, we can have a rare combination of AAA and quality. All because at least someone worked with passion, and not just for the paycheck.

Also think of all the irony of Cavil being cast as Geralt in a failed TV show, backed by Sapkowski no less, and then hitting it big by orders of magnitude in another CDPR game  Lauren Hissrich (who basically chased him away from the show) will shit herself.

We're down to "they'll make another cinematic/movie like gaym anyway, at least cast a bro as the protag" :dealwithit:

If they are making another Geralt gaym they have no reason to uncast Doug Cockle, could get some ire from fans like David Hayter/Snake sitch but not much cos of Cavill factor. Then again they scraped years of work for Keanu so its almost guaranteed they'd do it if they convince him :P

I don't seriously believe they are capable of making a game with a custom protagonist. They know that to reach AAA sales numbers they need to be making interactive movies with token RPG elements.

Yeah, so instead we are going to play a fixed dangerhair character.

Improvement!

They do if they make a game about a different Witcher. Who looks and sounds like Cavil. And is a character written for Cavil. It will sell like hotcakes all the same, don't kid yourself.

Will they even try? V from Cyberpunk 2077 was pretty much a pre-made character in everything except gender and face. Even the "history" of the character came down to the same Critical Path™ very quickly.

Don't try to downplay his role and connection to CDPR, he did all the Witcher intros - which were great in their time.
The Witcher (game intro and outro) (2007)
The Witcher 2 (game intro) (2011)
The Witcher 3 (game intro) (2015)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomasz_Bagiński

All the work was done through his company Platige, kind of big player in the CGI cinematics.
Platige also owns the film & TV rights for The Witcher, where he was the executive producer on the series, so he definitely had the say in the matter.

There is constant flow of people between two companies.

Witcher 4 when it comes out (in like 20y) will be woke shit full of bugs.

And CD Potatos will bitch and cry how they had no time to finish it, they had to throw it out after just 15y of development, please understand us (and give us your money).

I will quote this post when it happens to be like "I told you so". Unless I die of old age before this game comes out.

The Witcher 4 is in the 'most advanced' state of development among all the games currently underway at CD Projekt, ahead of The Witcher remake and Cyberpunk 2

CD Projekt associate game director Pawel Sasko says Polaris, better known as The Witcher 4—that's not an official title, but that's what we call it—is the "most advanced" project currently in the works at the studio. But don't get too excited thinking about returning to the world of The Witcher anytime soon, because all of the studio's games are still a long way off.

Speaking in a Flow Games interview, Sasko rattled off a list of CD Projekt's current major projects: Canis Majoris, the remake of The Witcher currently underway at Polish studio Fool's Theory; Orion, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 being led by CD Projekt's Boston studio; Polaris, the all-new Witcher game that's being developed primarily by CD Projekt's home studio in Warsaw; and Sirius, a Witcher spinoff game in the works at Molasses Flood, also based in Boston.

"Most of those are in early stages," Sasko said. "The only difference is the Polaris project—so, the new Witcher saga—that will enter production this year. It's the most advanced of all of those."

Sasko said graphs CD Projekt released as part of its Q1 2024 earnings presentation also showed that Polaris had far and away the largest number of developers working on it, with Orion a very distant second. But, he added, the Orion team "is growing."

It's not terribly surprising that The Witcher 4 is further ahead of other projects, given that it's where CD Projekt is focusing its resources, but it also shouldn't be taken as a sign that it's time to start holding your breath waiting for all new screencaps of Geralt doing his thing: As Sasko said, full production on the new game won't even begin until sometime later this year.

As for CD Projekt's other games, the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is still in the very early stages—CD Projekt Red studio head Adam Badowski said it was "on the conceptual design level" in October 2023—while Sirius went through a full reboot in early 2023. Canis Majoris, the Witcher remake, we really haven't heard much about since it was announced in 2022; the studio is also working on something brand new codenamed Hadar, announced in late 2022 as "a third, entirely distinct IP, created from scratch within CDPR."

CD Projekt also warned in 2021 that after the harsh lesson of Cyberpunk 2077, which was announced in 2012 but not released until 2020, that it won't start showing off its future games until they're "much closer" to release.

Still 4 years away if we are lucky.
While I'd bet the Witcher 1 remake is on a path to cancellation and we'll see Cyberpunk 2 or whatever the fuck it will be called by 2032.
If CDPR had possessed any sense, it would have initiated production of an Open World, customizable protagonist Witcher game immediately after the fiasco that was the release of Cyberpunk 2077, and the game could have been finished by the end of this year; instead, it must still be years away from completion.

I can wait to play purple haired Ciri striking right into misogynist white males. Values of tolerance and progress must be imposed at all cost.

You do realize they are woke company now and anything they make will be 100% pile of shit?

TW4 will continue where Netflix show crashed. Why would you want to play that type of an abomination?

This is the best line I've heard in a while. Suggests Geralt will still be the protagonist. My biggest fear is that they will make Ciri the Mary Sue the protag.

Wait. DO you mean this new Witcher game isn't that??!!! Jesus F Christ. That's the greatest misstep a company in CDPR's state can make.

Watch this take a turn towards Last of Us 2. You just have to replace Abby or whatever with a drowner.

There would be popcorn for years.

I wouldn't be surprised if Witcher 1 remake get cancelled, it's on the same path as AC:Shadows. If we finally see some footage and it turns out to be woke trash, someone that still got a brain in his skull at CDPR should say stop. You can't imagine hell unleashed by polish community if they turn The Witcher into communist propaganda, it would be nothing we've seen before.

On the internet, writing shit posts.

That TW4 will have a female protag is more certain than the cosmic constant. And unless you know of any better one in the lore it's gonna be Ciri.
Inb4 they give her the Aloy treatment and give her a fat face and potato bod because of muh male gayze.
Didn't CDPR hire some American wokist?
