Miraculously enough it doesn't suck.Grunker said:EDIT: I noticed it uses level-scaling btw. How ironic
Bishop will be 2-4 times more sucky than specialist caster, at lest until said caster reaches plateau - duh.Delirius said:What's the fastest way to train Bishop? I took him and Alchemist as casters and after few hours Bishop still sucks when compared to Alchemist. Taking a Bishop for first playthrough might have not been a greatest idea after all.

I wonder what happens in Arnika when you have an all Mook party, where normally your Mook(s?) would be temporally removed from the party.

You can always cast and cast again, with all characters except fighters and rogues - helps kill time.VentilatorOfDoom said:Grunker said:It suffers from the PoR: RoMD-issue I take it?
It's a bit harsh to compare it to Turd of Radiance: RomD, but you will still have lots of fun e.g. fighting wesps in trynton with 2 or 3 trynnie patrols coming to your aid. A cool encounter that is repeated frequently and will merely cost 45min of your life each time, of course you can't do anything but wait with all the trynnies blocking your path.
Good thing that Rapax are weak against water and semi-weak against mental magic, so tsunamis, acid clouds and such, complimented with mass freeze and maybe a hint of insanity and psionic blast or two really help with crowd control there.Darth Roxor said:It was just called 'critical strike'. And yes, the Rapax castle was a pain

Also, @Grunker whatever you do (even suboptimal builds are fun), don't go solo or with reduced party. It's perfectly viable strategy, but, despite the game being extremely combat-centric, and despite the fact that characters are not carefully engineered biowarian wonders of dialogue and romance, there is a lot of party banter and it is just awesome how it brings the party members you designed as bundles of stats to life.
Yep. There are 36 personalities with corresponding voicesets and they comment on every single fucking thing including comments made by other characters. Plus there are several recruitable, premade characters (up to two travelling with the party at the same time) who have their own voices and personalities too. All in all the party is much more lively than biowarian bunch seen in BG1.Grunker said:There's party-banter between characters if you create them all yourself? That's... kindda cool!
I have never got around to playing the prequels (I fully intend to do a 6-8 playthrough), but given that 6-8 form a single narrative, and allow for porting your party from one to another, including cross-sequel C&C and at least one sidequest spanning the three games, they seem cool.Btw, can I judge, based upon my experience with Wiz8, whether the rest of the series will appeal to me? It's my plan to play the good ones if I like this one.

I think I'll give it a whirl - only thing putting me off is that the author claims it makes Wiz8 HARDER. Firstly, Wiz8 really needs a difficulty boost like a blowfish needs a unicycle, secondly, modders making games "harder" usually means just upping baddie hitpoints by 300% or increasing their numbers accordingly, merely making the game more grind-y than actually more strategically difficult.

Azrael the cat said:Bard+cursed-yet-awesome weapon from robbing the bank sets you in good stead as well. It's a good weapon for any character, but by giving it to a part-time melee character you can skill up that one weapon style enough to make him a good fighter, and you won't get a better melee weapon for a support character for a LOOOOONNNNGGG time.
And no, I'm not telling you HOW to rob the bank
