Im both Morrowind fan and Fallout fan. Thats why it is confusing for me.

Better thank God that you aren't Ultima fan or you would go wild only because title of that abomination up there, daring to call itself Ultima IX.

I now feel bad about suggesting Witcher 2 after the soul-searching dismay Joni Odin von Hassenstein is suffering from. Let's agree on Two Worlds 2 and have a group hug.

Confession: I never liked the Bard's Tale series...
FFS, this is what I'm talking about. A game that slightly annoyed you isn't the WORST CRPG OF ALL TIME. Grow up, learn to hate, try playing ArcaniA or Descent to Undermountain then see how silly your mere dislike is.

I've learned a valuable lesson this day - flippypeepee has taught me the true meaning of hate. Look forward to my Descent to Undermountain lets play.

In hindsight it's Oblivion. I really hate this game with a passion. I was young and stupid and played it unmodded and unpatched on a ps3. I hate these NPCs, they give me nightmares! And the oblivion gates oh god why on earth did I put 70 hours in it that's so codexian it hurts :negative:

Objectively it is probably arcania or descent to undermountain but subjectively it is oblivion for me.

Altho I have to admit Descent to Undermountain doesn't look that bad, I guess I'll give it a try

I had a tough choice -

Ultima IX - I remember being quite excited about it and I loved those graphics and sound. The actual visits to places was a huge let down. Could have spent more time with it - but Daggerfall and SS2 were also around.

Instead - I have voted for Witcher 2. If these were the only games left in the whole world - I would not mind trying Ultima IX again and I have an itchy finger on GOG.

Witcher 2 is a brain damaging experience where after 10 minutes you loathe yourself after realising in no way at all you can justify spending so long in its company.

Ultima IX - disappointment

Witcher 2 - suicide

I liked the poll better when options ended after U9. Now it's just another codex being codex thread.

Also, if you count U9 as a crpg, you could as well add Deus Ex 2 to the poll.

What happened with Mistmare? Everytime Top 5/10/50 Worst RPG Ever happen there is always Mistmare. Top3 is usually - Dung Lords, Mistmare and one that I already forgot.
I think there was LP on the codex from it?

Speaking about Dung Lords - it was released on Steam few weeks ago. Why so late? There is much cash to grab from morons buying everything with discounts it might be too late.
No matter, the most important thing - that's FOURTH version of the game (1.0, then Collector's Edition, then MXXIII)
and game become servicable (I mean - can be finished without cheats or guides to avoid bugs) since 3rd version.
No surprise D.W.Bradley is another legend of the gaming industry that's hide in shame.
Maybe he get enough dosh from loosers (-50%+ bait) to fund Wizards&Warriors sequel/successor? Who am I kiddin', he just patch Dungs more...

Might&Magic IX? It got some bugs, there are still some even with 1.3 fan made patch on GOG (like the enemies falling behind the map or into the ground, making clearing mission impossible).
But it have good dungeons, better than the one in M&M VIII but that's easy to beat so...
And game is increadibly UGLY. Badly pasted textures on primitively shaped humanoidal figuers... if this game have artstyle - it's the worst sort.
I never seen uglier game in my gaming experience, maybe 2-3 games can come closer to it.

Lionheart: LotC feels so rushed and uninspired it's not funny. It's dull even for dull hack'n'slash standards. P.sure it was for cashgrab, like Gearbox did with Alien:CM (with little detail - someone else did that dirty job, and for bigger bucks).

Arcania is so bad I got way more fun with Two Worlds 2. It was cool game, even better with Worldmerge mod
But the worst part is control setting, I have no idea how this could be fucked up SO BADLY.
Not intuitive whatsoever.
This happen when you do videogames with modern standards (automatisation) for modern audience but end with complete shit.

Gothic3 would be cool but melee combat is pure garbage and most hostile animals anihillate you even after patches, fan-made patches and fan-made game editions addons.
Ranged combat have no sense (most enemies looks like a fucking hedgehog before they die) and magic is OP, just get fireball, then mana regeneration and clean out the whole map from any living forms. Guess what - game STILL can be finished when there is nobody alive except Xardas (or even without him?).
I like it better than any TES though.

I liked PoR - remove it from the list!

It will remove all data&files on your comuter faster that it will be removed from the poll.
Don't blink.

I remember Daemonsgate held up as "worst RPG ever lol" in the early 90s, but it actually got quite a few 5/10 - 6/10 reviews later on.

Wasn't that game just simplistic and boring, instead of outright bad?
I skipped it on my chronological play list, but commented the entry "Sounds boring".

Yeah, IMO it's just mediocre (or plain bad)... not the worst game ever. Thing is, at that time many gaming mags delighted on going off about how $game is a terrible atrocity against humankind whenever they reviewed a bad game, at least in Hungary. :gamingjournalism:

I have the same relationship with Oblivion, I played it relentlessly on PC since launch, in fact, I got a summer job just to pay for PC upgrade so I could run that game with shadows (GF 5200 couldn't run it consistently with shadows lul)

I also had no internet at the time which meant that I had no access to patches and/or mods

Yet I've sunk HUNDREDS of hours into it, all the while KNOWING that Morrowind is a superior game and I can get more content and satisfaction out of it, yet I still traversed empty wastes of dull green landscape, imagining in my head how cool it would be if x thing was here or y was there, adding narrative and purpose to that pointless adventure.

It becamse much MUCH worse when I discovered Construction Kit and started learning scripting, I've made hundreds of small mods to incorporate my ideas into the gameworld which turned it from dull mess into an unplayable chaotic mess with factions attacking each other and random spawns EVERYWHERE all the goddamn time.

To be fair, though, I've never made any loverslab-level stuff or companions or op one hit weapons, all purely mechanical changes on a global scale.

Lionheart, Might & Magic IX, Ultima IX: Ascension, The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, Hellgate: London, Deus Ex: Invisible War - they are not cult classics but either they are not bad games.

Hellgate: London?

Mmmmm, no, that would be in case of Top5/Top10. That was something older.

Other one that I reminded myself - Space Siege.
Sounds familiar? Yep, that's supposed to be Dugn Siege but in space. Made by Chris(t) Taylor. It's complete flop. It's irredemable garbage.
Level up give marginal increase in stats and character numbers (like 0.025, I'm not kidding)
There is also C&C no less, to turn your character (forgot his name) into machine by replacing your body parts, one by one, with cybernetic one. It's supposed to give you more power. Guess what? IT DO NOTHING. Another +0,025%.
I was a fan of cybernetic things years back and this game triggered me like nothing else.

PS. what's so bad about Gorasul? I played it decade ago and don't remember it being bad, just regular cRPG from Germany, with few cool features (talking personal weapon with EGO, different difficulty setting for puzzles and combat, like in System Shock1).

Space Hack was bad until you edited file that tweak economy, so you don't shoot out of money in a second. Another title - Frater: Well of Souls is better, strange this one nad Grom was not released yet on Steam/gog.

Or Legend:Hand of God. P.bland h'n's with few nice things, like enemies must dodge to avoid getting hit, not shit like in 99.99% of games, where you swing weapon, it get through enemies for 0 damage. It looks ridiculous on higher difficulty setting, where mere goblin is fucking Agent Smith.
Or Loki, made by same guys who made Of Orks and Men and Mars: War Logs (Spidersomething). Another "Diablo killer" that everyone forgot week later. It was hilarious.

Beyond Divinity is good if you want more combat, which was servicable in DivDiv. But how can you stomatch it if the last 1/3 of the DivDiv is massive combat fest? You vs. 10000 enemies.

Dung Siege was innovative, it was modern game for modenr audience (automatic for the people), but traveled decade or so back in time with developement
and release.

Jesus Christ, this poll is getting big!
How about adding Risen 2? It would be a worthy competitor I guess.
First - there are worse games than Risen2. Dagon Age trilogy for example.
Second - Risen 3 is even worse. Nobody told you that because you and everyone else did not played it.
