Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Also, pretty much all the descriptions of Arabs visiting Mali mention their medicine being shit, the absolute worst in the entire Muslim world.
Sounds interesting, who said that?
I recall Ibn Battuta saying bad things about healthcare in Mali, looking through his accounts right now.

The first thing I found is him saying that the food they eat there makes white people sick, only the local blacks can stomach it:

He considers their culture rather quaint and barbaric in some aspects:

Also a funny story about neighboring cannibal tribes:

A king who gifts women to cannibals in the full knowledge they will be eaten doesn't strike me as particularly civilized.

It's very Islamic for women to run around naked. Trust me, Mansa Musa was a well educated man with his empire being the center of learning in all of Africa.

Doesn't the character in KCD2 talk about how much they respect women in his culture?

Considering above paragraph about selling them to cannibals...

"In my country, women are much more highly valued than in yours. Especially when you serve them in a nice sauce!"

There is no point in trying to rationalize the choice to include a black scholar from Mali in the game. They wanted a sub saharan black man from western Africa since that is the kind of representation that appeals to liberal white americans and african americans in general. Every excuse to justify his inclusion is just downstream from that. Yeah, I am sure the historians at Warhorse poured hours and hours of their time over dusty manuscripts to arrive at a stereotypical muslim doctor wearing traditional garbs and golden ornaments from Mali called Musa. If Vavra hadnt been so hysterical in defending his inclusion I would have imagined this was a poorly done joke.

His clothing also breaks several Islamic rules.

It's astonishing how little effort went into this character.

It could be a pattern—if so little effort is put into a character, there might also be very little care and effort in other aspects of the game. Usually, when there’s attention to detail, it signals a good game. In any case, it’s always a bad idea to play these games on day one. With the controversies, it’s likely the game won’t sell well and will have massive discounts in a few months.

Vavra expects me to believe that this dude traveled thousands of miles across seas and deserts and his silks are still in perfect condition. At the very least he should be wearing the same kind of clothing as the rest of the people in the area, both to try and remain as inconspicuous as possible and for pratical reasons.

What the fuck is Mali?

Some Muslim African kingdom where the Richat structure is.

The king of Mali showed up in Mecca once with a metric ton of gold so now people have invented this fiction Mali was this super advanced wakanda.

Meanwhile here's an example of their architecture:

While this was is medieval Bohemia:

They are probably "downplaying it" because you'd have to mentally retarded to get into the moral panic that "Vavra is making a game where you are forced to have gay sex".

EDIt- yeah, exactly like this meningitis-ridden mongoloid Ascetic
And the other raging faggots who are following him, too.
Here's the thing bud, I've been playing LotRO recently and I saw some belly aching in the Codex thread about woke shit. I thought "what the fuck are these niggers up in arms for? I haven't seen a single brown NPC or player for that matter in Bree-lands." Then I went to create an alt and I saw that you could create nigger hobbits, nigger men (of the West)... NIGGER ELVES! And my next thought was "Okay, that's bad, but I've seen way worse shit, this really isn't as bad as those Codex niggers make it out to be." And then, finally, I realized, I'm the frog that's being slowly boiled alive.

Politics moves either leftwards or rightwards, and it's been moving leftwards for over 2 centuries at this point. The next thing you know they'll be including pedophile shit everywhere and trannies will become acceptable by comparison. The mere inclusion of niggers and gay buttsex is unacceptable regardless of the reason. Homosexuals do not exist. Niggers do not exist.

The liberals should have all been killed in 1789.

So, there was a Korean named Antonio living in Rome in 1600. And this didn’t surprise anyone.

You know what happened between 1400 and 1600?

Age of Discovery.
Of continent and people you didn't know. Black people, in spite of whatever you want to say/mean, were already part of thhis world.

Sailing south around Africa was also the part of age of discovery, dummy. Age of discovery was about finding a sea route to India, and they went in multiple directions looking for it.

How about a huge chunk of the wealth (Gold) cherished back then coming from Mali. I know, wouldn't fit the narrative.
If any of the gold in Europe at the time came from Mali (doubtful - Malian trade was mostly with North African muslim nations, which tended to be in a state of conflict rather than trade with Catholic Europe. And if those traded with Europe, they would do so with mediterranean coastal nations: Spanish, Italian, Occitan, Byzantine) it would have changed hands a dozen times before arriving there. I could see a Malian going on hajj to Mecca and leaving a bit of gold in Egypt while he's passing through, maybe spending a bit in a local market to enjoy the local produce. Then that gold ends up in the hands of a Byzantine merchant on a trip to Egypt where he intends to procure some exotic stuff for wealthy patrons in Constantinople. Later he uses that gold to buy something while on a trip to Bohemia. Boom, you got a handful of Malian gold coins in Bohemia.

It would not be Byzantine merchants, at least not until the Late Middle Ages Thanks to Alexios handing out trade monopolies to Venice, and then his successors did it with Genoa and Italians, the Byzantine Empire was isolated from international trade. All that came in and out of rhe empire did so through Italian merchants. The most a Byzantine merchant could do was sell to the Italians at one of their ports.

This also isolated the empire from the gold circulating into Western Europe. The empire remained gold starved and reliant mainly upon silver. What gold came into the empire was mostly Frankish gold coins from the HRE.

There were huge economic issues with the Byzantines from the late 11th Century onward that were never corrected after Alexios tried and had to indefinitely postpone them.

Achoo?
BLESS YOU!

Why do I always have to be right lol
After all, you have your own experience with it. The first installment of Kingdom Come caught criticism for not having any black people in it. What about part two?

We can't talk about that yet.
