wait wait wait wait wait! wait!
what's this stuff about no shadows?
While complete darkness was a big factor in
the earlier Thief games, it made it difficult for
players to see what was going on. Eidos-
Montreal found a key ingredient to help
maintain the feel of darkness while adding
visibility. "Fog helps us to light the whole
game," Cantin says. "If you have a dark scene
in a back alley, you just put fog in it and then
you see the silhouette. You're never in the
pitch dark. The fog is there for the mood but
also for helping the player to see."

CD-Action is so cute when they try to look objective :troll: :troll: :troll:

Actually, Gem is probably the only person from that dickhead shitpaper who isn't a complete drooling retard. He isn't a refined purist and does some stupid shit, true. But I'll be damned if I've seen anyone else so far noting or even mentioning the very possibilty of "inaccuracies", "contradictions", "preying on nostalgia" and "watering down the franchise". No sir, even the concept of second guessing is for decadent haters!

He's the last of CD Action's problems.

He gave Divinity 2 4/10 because he couldn't beat Amdusias. :killit:

Has it been hard moving development to the next generation of consoles?

Oh, I thought they were developing it with the PC first and foremost in mind?

Cunts.

I've never played a Thief game before.
Move over GOG.com and try them. Steam version is fine too, if you'd like to have some hard time fixing it.

Judging by the screenshots and this 'new' Garrett design, we will have some first-person mix of Assassin's Creed and Dishonored.
Now I wonder who prepared those excuses for the press to shit into the eye right after spitting into it.

Well, what I've read so far isn't too bad - you can ghost levels if you want or knock out/kill people if you wish. Sounds like they're doing their best to accomodate multiple playstyles. I'll miss Stephen Russell but given that Square Enix/Eidos have recently released a couple of half-decent reboots in Deus Ex and Tomb Raider I'm cautiously optimistic. If you're the kind of gamer that wants nothing more than exactly the same gameplay you enjoyed 15 years ago with prettier graphics you will no doubt be disappointed but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt at this stage.

One thing troubles me though - if this is a reboot why does Garrett still have his artifical eye?

First, all you've seen is PR speak. Nothing concrete to confirm their words. While I'm not saying that it means they're lying through their teeth, don't be surprised if ghosting or not having to kill people will only be available under certain conditions - or maybe even be reserved for DLC content.

Why does Garrett still have his mechanical eye if this is a reboot? Because Eidos are morons who think we're the idiots around here.

I am curious what contrived reason they will give for Garrett having the focus ability. It will occur due to "an event early in the game".

They don't really need to explain Focus, there was no explanation for it in Splinter Cell: Conviction either.

Holy shit, I had no idea it was that bad. Are they fucking serious?
Did you read that dev info posted pages back?

They have AssCreed 3D artist as a game director, AssCreed 2D artist as a lead gameplay designer, AssCreed Revelations sound dude on sound and AssCreed AI programmer on AI. The most incompetent people Ubisoft had to fire.

They are doing an AssCreed clone except with completely clueless people at the head of it. Like that thing skyway was talking about 2 years ago.
They should hire some people from the ARMA III team.

CD-Action and objective shouldn't even be used in one sentence.

I'm surprised anyone treats it as a magazine. For years it's been basically a way to get cheap games with something to page through while you install them.

True, but for all that shit, hey seem at least a bit self-aware, if only a little bit. My friend bought it today. I lol'd when Bioshock Infinite cons were pretentious story where Ken Levine tried to be smart and failed and that game brings nothing new to the table. It speaks volumes about the state of this industry when even CD Action noticed that.

I'm not defending it by any means; it's amateurish infantile journalism for the most part not worth the attention and is mainstream through and through; defining the subject matter that's for obvious reasons unacceptable in communities like this one. But if IGN or Kotaku would rank "1 out of 10 and absolute bottom of the barrel", then CD Action would be 2 or 3 minus at best.

I have the exact opposite feelings when it comes to Bioshock Infinite. Chances are, the reviewer failed to grasp the finer points of the story. Or maybe doesn't like a Bioshock game that doesn't rip off System Shock 2 down to using the same plot devices and a similar structure.

Wouldn't be the first time a CD-Action writer blogger monkey with a typewriter failed to pay attention and/or think for a moment. For example, as a C&C fan, I couldn't really believe that the person reviewing Kane's Wrath admitted to being clueless, when he asked "Y AVATARS NO COME WITH FLAMEZ NOW??////?" after noticing that the Black Hand had pre-modified Purifiers instead of the modifiable Avatars the rest of Nod got. It really doesn't take much effort to understand how games are balanced.

Dunno about ARMA, but Operation Flashpoint got some sweet AI that no newer game can beat yet.

Don't reply to gaudaost, he just got bored with the Bioshock Infinite topic and is looking for a new thread where he can defend the next popamole shovelware in his next 200 or so posts.

You mean the reviewer isn't a hipster moron and actually saw the shit incoherent story for what it is?

A hipster moron is typically a guy that doesn't share mainstream opinion and posts fiery balls of hatred on an Internet forum, pretending that they're insightful commentary on the gaming industry.

On the other hand, the reviewer might've been a regular type of fool who didn't understood the story or (worse) failed to actually finish the game.
