Just crashes on my PC and I'm not going to change my graphics driver since that'll only break something else like Arx Fatalis.

There's no way TOEE is the best Troika game.

Arcanum was at least 35% of a good game. (Awful ruleset, awful combat, low quality story, but good world and quests)

VTMB was at least 25% of a good game (awful engine, awful combat, meh mechanics, changes into a different and bad genre halfway through, but good NPC interaction, quests and atmosphere in the first half.)

TOEE is literally just a good engine and a good ruleset, there is virtually nothing of value in terms of actual game content. If I am charitable, it's like 15% of a good game, that happens to have a top 3 engine and a top 2 ruleset.

At least GOG's not trying to hide using NoCD cracks anymore. It would appear they're using the "Hans Schulze" ToEE v3.0 NoCD based on the EXE having the same md5 hash - unless that's just a big coincidence. Not that I care about the poor poor game crackers, but I think GOG at least ought to disclose it.

Here's the GOG forum link where you can see the GOG ToEE.exe md5 hash and how somebody even uploaded it to virustotal to scan it three years ago. (There's some other post downthread to another site with the same hash, not that I really doubt the first post).

Just FYI: Their support page says there's no infection (I guess), and I think you can find some old thread on the co8 forum where they said they'd submitted whatever NoCD file to certain antivirus companies who also said it was a false positive.

I don't mean to be on their ass about it, but as I said before - I just wouldn't mind knowing what I'm getting - not that the SecuROM before would be all that delightful.

Didn't say it did, but the GOG forum post was about virus scanners going haywire over it, so I thought I might as well point out some of the other information, although I'm sure nothing gets past the illustrious Potato Scanner 5000.

Edit: also, I'm not sure if that will fuck anything up down the line if using the Co8 modpack since it's reported that GOG's version is using Atari's incompatible v3 patch (which makes sense given the crack they're apparently using). If you install the Atari v2 patch over it (as Co8 instruct), would you need the NoCD for v2? I assume a v2 and v3 NoCD exist for a reason. The GOG thread on it makes it seem like people are just installing the modpack without reverting the game patch first though...

So edgy here. First you all vote Bloodlines and Arcanum as games belonging to the Codex top 5 for all time, then you come here and spit on them.....that's sticking it to the man!

You're one of those that drooled over MotB, aren't you?

In that case:

Not a hivemind, different people, different opinions, etc. I like the Troika trio, they all have a slightly-different set of high and low points.

They sell King's Bounty - The Legend too, which is from 2008.
Either the name Good Old Games is just a merketing gimmick (it sounds nice, right?) or every game more than 1 year old is 'old'.
Or maybe both.

They will sell anything a publisher will let them for $10 DRM free. Which is a good thing if you ask me, as $10 and DRM free is the way I want my games, be they from 1985 or 2010.

And some of them are not good, as pointed by your example.

To me "Old" means games that have issues running on todays PCs and GoG business should be fixing them.

Which they have done for Arx Fatalis and Divine Divinity so I was more than happy to purchase those.

I was kinda expecting them to do the similar with TOEE and BG but I guess, in hindisight, that would have been impossible given the developers no longer exist and there's no way to negotiate the legal hurdles with an Atari/Interplay and the modders who have fixed these games for free.
