I lol'd so hard that I forgot to press those buttons and poor Lara died (multiple times). The world is so evil. Had to uninstall the game, I just can't take it anymore.

Well I've got it. I said I wouldn't bother, but I saw a ridiculously good offer on Green Man Gaming a while back and couldn't resist.

So far, it's ok. Certainly nothing offensive. It isn't Tomb Raider though. They should have given her a different name and a different face and basically made it a female Uncharted. It would be excellent as that.

My main criticism so far, besides the huge departure from the license, is the linearity of it all. I'm 2 hours in and I still feel like I'm playing a tutorial. I thought this was meant to be an open world game, but so far it has just been one long corridor.

The graphics are pretty. I had to turn off the special hair though, to get my frame rate to a playable level (40-60FPS). With hair on, it plummets to ~20FPS. I have all other settings on ultra, at 1680x1050, Vsync off, DOF off, and FXAA on. My system: Core 2 Quad 3ghz, GeForce 560ti, 8GB RAM

That special hair turns out to be a Radeon specific gimmick, so no wonder we Nvidia users get shit FPS.

Yeah.

Even with an nVidia technology like Physx though I usually turn it right the hell off. Would rather have a locked 60fps than fluttering flags or whatever.

So Rhianna Pratchett is the lead writer of the game (and also of the comic). Problem, Roguey?
I never said her writing was good, just that her script doctoring more than likely made Divinity 2's dialogue entertaining.

They take great care to hide as much as possible in these scenes. Screen darkens, water obscures, etc etc. This attitude is also seen on TV shows like Spartacus where they revel in gore but only when it's against men. It's all over TV and movies, everyone is deathly afraid to show pretty women die. Because women are sex objects and god forbid they mix sex and violence in the same frame. The boner they get in the editing room makes them go into uncomfortable and unexplored places in their psyche, summoning great fear and shame, so they shorten and obscure and cut out the scenes entirely.

I was going to post exactly this. Fucking hair takes more resources than everything else.

Except for the QTE its prettty good, comparable to the last uncharted

Stopped reading this comment here.

What are you disagreeing about ? that uncharted is good or that its similar to it ? That game is a carbon copy of uncharted and plays exactly like it except its lara+ a little more blood, a few QTE, a puzzle, then a big room with auto cover spots and lot of enemies to kill.

AAA industry in a nutshell: wasting money/resources on fucking hair animation versus developing gameplay more engaging than a string of QTEs. Although, to date, I think Force Unleashed 2 is the high(low) watermark for games being little more than CGI movies.

I finished the game.
It started off bad, then mediocre, then alternating between good ol' fun and This Is Actually Pretty Cool. The QTEs are less frequent later on. The best puzzles seem to be in the optional tombs so I recommend doing those.
At a later point in the game, there was a part where I was very impressed with the game*.

The shooter gameplay is pretty fun, and I even played with a controller plugged in. It's pretty much Tomb Raider of olden times meets Far Cry 3, meets Ocarina of Time. I haven't played Uncharted cuz I don't own a Age of Decline console, so I can't draw any comparisons with that.

Anyway, at least one decent popamoler for 2013.

I'm actually hearing positive things from reliable people, if you have any stomach for modern gaming at all (which I do).

Fucking shits, they have destroyed the only redeeming feature of the game. And to think that the scene in the gif was so lovingly crafted and shown. I expected each death scene to be equally beautiful.

eh. what are you guys talking about?
I've had Lara been impaled in the stomach when flying with a parachute, stabbed in the throat with a sword, and some other pretty gruesome stuff (often by the hands of men).
She dies more horribly than enemies (men) do.
The game is as grimdark as it can be without it being ridiculous. Well, it's a little ridiculous at times.

Honestly, if you expected worse in a title like this... then I must question your intelligence.

Yeah, it's pretty grimdark. Though i find those death scenes ridiculous and forced.

Anyway, i bought it, i enjoy it and i feel no shame.

Did you watch the video? It's the exact opposite, sometimes the scenes linger for a bit longer than you'd expect.

the environments are masterfully crafted by the way. the level design is good. the lighting is fucking excellent. sounds are pretty good as well (played with stereo headphones).
this would be a game I wouldn't mind getting a sequel to*. I would like more emphasis on temple puzzle/exploration though. and no QTEs, of course. while Lara can be a whiny soft cunt (especially early on in the game), she's a character I kind of enjoy. much more so than that faggot you had to play as in Far Cry 3.

most of the cast in tomb raider is shit though
but basically all of them die anyway hahahaha

* and don't you bitches whine about me wanting a popamole sequel -- this game is much better than any fucking assassin's creed, call of duty or halo or other shitty title that has been milked for the last decade.

About the video.

Basing on the .gif, I expected it to be more sophisticated and erotic.

I had the opposite impression.

*Lara is impaled*

*Lara squirms*

Me: uuuh, okay, next one

*Lara twitches*

*Lara's eyes roll into the back of her head*

Me: OKAY I GET IT

*Lara's arms go limp*
