The butler is a hunchback now, huh? The other humans are harder to screw up, but man, that doesn't bode well.

The classic Winston always was.

Welp! He’s still getting locked up and trapped definitely. He’s used to it. I mean…. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. If only there wasn’t a glass window so you could have Lara do “puttem on da glass” with him behind locked doors mocking him.

Winston's too old to get any kind of reaction out of it anyway. In TRIII he sounds like he should be wearing adult diapers.

Jenkem what are you not sure about? Obviously the VP8 isn't from the nineties (although who knows what codec the source was using) but the clips are over-compressed to hell to the point where there is literally zero chroma information for large parts of many frames not to mention the smearing.

Just look at this random pair of successive frames from the third video:

The colors are all over the place. Nothing here should be anywhere close to gray and there is barely any detail.

The first previews are out. I honestly don't think these games needed remasters, they are still pretty good and I played 1-3 recently.

Merida, again
They don't. All you need is something that works in current OS and graphic drivers without having to resort to hacks or mods. Maybe some modern QoL features.

An oasis of love and friendship.
Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth

this is exactly what the remaster is though? especially if you turn off the new graphics and use classic tank controls. the jump-twist was added into TR1 and the system for how jumping works in 2 and 3 was also added to TR1

It's very easy to find solutions to compatibility problems for the classic TRs and the games themselves cost a fraction of the price of the remasters when discounted on GOG. I also think the GOG copies run fine on modern PCs out of the box. I'm not particularly impressed with the new graphics. The old school assemblage of cubes they used to build the levels look very artificial with the new graphics and some rooms look unnaturally empty because they didn't add new details to a lot of them.

So apparently Crystal Dynamics simply couldn't govern themselves and added a little bonus to these remasters, shown when you boot them:

I'm assuming "offensive depictions of people and cultures" refers to the south-pacific tribe. Firstly, this tribe is entirely realistic. Many such isolated and hostile peoples exist today, essentially unchanged from our perspective. And secondly, they don't give a shit about how white devils depict them in their visual lore. Only baizuo commies do. It has been known for a while that Crystal are about as woke as Netflix, and they absolutely loathe the original Tomb Raider franchise, especially its original incarnation of Lara. They will do their damnedest to bury the classic timeline, whilst gladly profiting from it when they can. They are hypocrites of the nth degree, guilty of using the same "sexualisation", tokenism and "stereotypes" they accuse the late Core of.

Some choice bits:

The monkey scripting apparently works the same when they're picking up health packs, but it seems Aspyr removed the script for the monkey that was supposed to steal the indra key at the end of Jungle? To make sure that noobs who look away at the wrong time don't miss it I suppose.

These games will be unfinished trainwrecks. Hopefully they will be as moddable as the originals.

I am expecting them to be super buggy and unfinished too. Maybe years down the line when (read: if) they are fixed and in the bargain bin I'll consider getting them. But again, the originals are fine, I am literally playing TR3 right now and it's still awesome.

Their loss since I don't pay to get condescending and patronizing warnings from the woke agenda.
Crystal Dynamics didn't even work on the collection. They will be paid the same by their mother company regardless.

Irrelevant. It's their warning. And this release is part of their business exclusively, even as a subsidiary of THQ or whatever it's called nowadays.

Yeah, I doubt this warning is going to be the worst part of these remasters. I'm expecting unplayable second halves of each game.

I know that the first one has an amazing source port, but what about 2 and 3? The first one gets a lot of love from fans, but the other entries in Core's series seem to get less. Mind you, I don't think anyone's going to cry themselves to sleep over Chronicles.

You'd think they'd want to show off the graphics in that, but for a good chunk they just show the original's graphics. Interesting choice. The little exclamation mark that appears over Lara's head as she can use the lever is hilariously bad though.

2 and 3 work for me out of the box as GOG copies. If you have some compatibility issues, I'm sure it's easily resolved by googling it. The original trilogy is still popular among speedrunners, so the incentive to create such fixes is there. The only issue with 2 I've noticed is the low view distance that is very prominent from even the first level. 3 doesn't seem to be like that. Technically, it's the same with 1, but since it has a pretty good port that has been resolved already.
