Make the Codex great again, go back to the Watch.
I am not even sure that the Watch would make a such mess.

I recommend to you "Das Kunstwerk der Zukunft" and "Oper und Drama" from W.R.Wagner. But yes i have watched the video from mrbtongue and i also agree with him on this topic, or at least he has spoken with his argumentation to my previous knowledge. And perhaps because of the intersection i liked mrbtongue's videos so much.He was just copypasting mrbtongue. I get the concept, but i dont think something that minor like some misplaced cobblestones could hurt the overall integrity of the gamedesign. There are so many much more important things to get right. Heck, planescape was a consistent piece of art despite the fact that combat sucked major asshole.
Autismtrain is rolling again? What will be next? Game is shit because people with wigs look like people with normal hair? Guys, seriously, get a fucking grip of yourself.
All those "critics" here will find that the new Torment is somehow "lacking" in any random department and is therefore a total failure in their watchful critics eyes, and whoever doesn't see it their way is a mental fanboy, and Unity sucks, and Mark Morgan is too unoriginal etc etc. It'll all be there, I can't wait for the beta. With an actual beta at hand, hopefully the discussion will find substance next week.
I may feel otherwise when it actually happens, but at least right now I'm actually interested in having a bunch of people nitpick the writing I did. (Although perhaps, as Infinitron suggests, comments will stop at "too verbose.") It's not that common to have a large number of people scrutinize your work, especially when there's still time / ability to do something to fix it.Silly nitpicking combined with pontificating on the nature of art is... tedious.

Not really. A lot of RPGs have much higher completion rates, just check steam achievement stats and see for yourself.
So you wrote stuff that's in this beta? Let us know what specifically, I'm sure a lot of people will nitpick it for you.I may feel otherwise when it actually happens, but at least right now I'm actually interested in having a bunch of people nitpick the writing I did. Pretty selective comparison. Those are action games. D:OS and PoE's completion rates are comparable to Blackguards's and Hard West's.
Steam achievements didn't exist until 2010 and it's not like we've seen many lengthy turn based/rtwp RPGs since then.Pretty selective comparison.
To be honest, I'm not sure what the etiquette in this arena is with indentifying one's own work. I can see if it's permissible. Though I guess if it has dense, boring text with obscure words, you can hazard it's my doing. So you wrote stuff that's in this beta? I know you're just being cautious, but that's a very...vague definition for a game like this.To be honest, I'm not sure what the etiquette in this arena is with indentifying one's own work. It is apparently kosher to share, but because a specific identification of the writing would reveal content from the beta, I'll hold off until it's released.I know you're just being cautious, but that's a very...vague definition for a game like this.To be honest, I'm not sure what the etiquette in this arena is with indentifying one's own work. I mean ofcourse we are not getting the exotic surreal dreamlike moebius fantastic experience we all want, like pic related, buts its looking good for what it is.
Snip..
you say this like it's not a bad thing. "What it is" is a spiritual successor to what is generally considered one of the best CRPGs of all time. It shouldn't look like there's no real art direction and it certainly shouldn't look like some patched together facsimile of a bg2 map. Check your fucking standards.its looking good for what it is.
