Nicely done RE clone, but I'm no longer in the mood of searching for tapes and losing one hour of progress due to lack of nails.

If you're lacking ammunition it's because you don't use the crowbar on grounded opponents.

Make the Codex Great Again! RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
The economy isn't so tight that a few wasted nails here and there are an issue. A friend watched me stream and was horrified when I spent ammo less than optimally, yet I finished the game just fine (though I certainly ran out of things sometimes).

Those wheelchair Jimmies are nail sponges, and even smacking on them with a crowbar didn't kill them fast enough. Perhaps I was just careless at that moment, but two Jimmies shouldn't be so hard to kill. Either way screw this retro obsession.

Retro obsession? There's like 2 or 3 retro survival-horrors now, not much of an obsession, sadly.

I see quite a few on Itch.io these days. Now that PSX has come into retro vogue, people have really gotten into making those kinds of games.
Personally, I don't see this as a bad thing, but anything's better than endless "run away from the spooky monster" or Five Nights at Freddy's kind of games. At least in this situation something good could come out of it.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Is the first game good? I have it on steam from spoopy bundle some time ago and like all october i usually play horror games or 2 (i know it's november but still)
Definitely. I don't want to oversell it but I have only good things to say about this game. Play it.
So yeah i am about few hours into it, and it's tons of fun. The puzzles are really good, and the gameplay is fun. My only real complain is you cannot rebind keys so i ended up playing with controller. I dont mind tank control, but having shift set to run is hard because it's not easy to turn while running.

Level design is not as good as RE1 remake (though honestly re 1 is one of the best level design ever in gaming) but i like the puzzles are all more complex than re's "find the key".

Combat is just right it add tension, and fairly strategic (like using crowbar on downed enemies) but not stressful because of the limited save system. Thank you Zombra

Finished this. Very predictable story but really good gameplay.

The good: rhe puzzles. Better than most adventure game i played the past few years. I got stumped finding the blood bag because hell, who'd notice where you get it?

But overall they are logical and fun, and backtracking isnt that long if you clear everything.

I finished the game with half a dozen shotgun shell and electric lance and few dozens of nails. The combat is pretty easy because shotgun knock down all enemies. But the amount is pretty good at least i feel it add to the tension and atmosphere.

The bad:

The chaser enemy is very underwhelming as you can just exit a room, come back and it will be gone. No sense of persistence or challenge because when you enter the room, hear the music, just immediately go back the way you go, and re enter the room. It's such a missed opportunity.

Overall really good survival horror.

Played it for an hour. Amateurs...

Bad actress had her lines mixed too low under the music in the opening, and I kept thinking about that, so already I don't know why she went to this house.

Very bad voice actress. Why does she sound so happy? Weirdly excited, even as she says to herself, "And my eye had been removed. Why? Why would someone do such a thing?"

The model sucks. Face looks like a doll or anime girl or something surrounded by all the photorealism of the world. The outfit is stupid. So many dumb belts and this big silly bow tied in the back. Like how you'd dress up a doll. Can find outfits in environment, like looking cute is what she'd be concerned about after waking up naked with eye gone, because indie devs are coomers (or boys who wanted to play with dolls) who have to be reigned in by bosses. Have her immediately naked, but she finds her clothes right away, so just useless embarrassing fanservice. Jackets that short don't have hoods!

Have to use D-pad to move backwards (and it's only a pretty slow walk) because the devs did not play the original RE remake, they played the remaster that has the modern control scheme available where forward is not always walk forward and D-pad needs to be used to move backwards. Up not being forward means that as you come into a new camera angle you must keep holding the stick in the wrong direction to keep moving straight. Then when you let go and push in that same direction again she turns. No logic. Wasn't a problem in Metal Gear Solid trilogy because the areas were always in a sort of bird's eye view, with north always up, but you can't do this in games with more cinematic cam angles like classic Resident Evil.

The run looks weird, like she's running on air. Like she's happily trotting along. No weight in the animations.

The one NPC interaction so far just had both characters standing opposite each other with the cam fixed in one place, uninteresting compared to a cutscene.

Took me twenty minutes to figure out how to get out of the room, to realize that I was supposed to use the time on the stop watch for the packlock combination. But why? Stupid puzzle.

Why was I made to adjust the wrench before I could open the door with it? Everything is so manual. The amount of time that you're figuring out how to get out of a room, to get to the next place, randomly tapping the interact button on an environment where barely anything stands out, is dull, making the pacing far crappier than in the games it imitates.

"'Judith Beheading Holofernes.' Painted by Caravaggio in 1602. It depicts Judith beheading the Syrian general, Holofernes, in his tent, after charming him. The recreation of Caravaggio's work is outstanding! It almost looks like the original."

"'The Nightmare.' Painted by Henry Fuseli in 1781. It depicts a woman in deep sleep with a demonic incubus crouched on her chest. This recreation is amazing! It almost looks like the original."

Like this young woman would know this. Come on! Did the intro tell me she's an art student and I didn't pay attention because her voice was distractingly drowned out?

Nothing about this game is unsettling. First enemy was some decrepit guy with long claws in a wheelchair, first revealed with a cheap jump scare. It's all just weird, because the creators don't understand the subtlety of fear.

Boring. Fuck indie. But not all of them.

The voice acting and dialogue are intentionally bad. Not sure how that flew right over Ezekiel's head. Also the controls worked fine for me. I do wish there was more costumes for Caroline Walker. Two options is pretty damn slim for this sort of game. Needs a skimpy swimsuit.

No, they aren't.
Yes, THEY ARE. They are emulating the old Resi Evil and SH games which had notoreously awful voice acting.
They're imitating Resident Evil remake, which had better voice acting than this. Original RE2 and 3 also had better voice acting than this. Can't speak for original RE, but I know that one is funnier. It's not intentional, it's lack of money. Can't hire voice actors, so they use their friends.

The developers are native english speaking. It wouldn't make any sense for the dialogue to be as awkward and broken as it is if it weren't done on purpose. They definitely told the VAs to be as stiff and awkward as humanly possible and likewise wrote the dialogue as if it were poorly translated, just like RE.

Skip to 4:45. You can't tell me that isn't purposefully written as a bad translation. The devs are ENGLISH speaking people, not japs. Why else would it turn out like that?

You're both right and wrong. The voiceacting is bad both deliberately and unintentionally.

Bad voice acting comes with the territory. Since when does Codex care about voice acting, anyway?

This game has more charm and character than the entirety of RE8 imo, that game sucked ass.
