Fallout 2 is overrated. It's gameplay is (marginally) better than Fallout 1, but the story and tone is shit.

The "humor" is painfully unfunny, and two good talking heads can't redeem a game that's story and gameplay is shit.

Fallout 1 >>> Fallout 2.

Heroes 3 > Heroes 2
Heroes 3 plays better and looks better.
Heroes in general is a strange "game" that appeals to those people who would probably have fun designing and filling out spreadsheets.
The whole game is about competitive minmaxing taken to the extreme: oh how many units i can hire this week, how many steps i can take most efficiently from A to B including castle speed boosts, how many logistic chains of heroes I can link and compute the paths for them every round, break up all my units into squads of 1 and 5 to bait and block, minmax manage the resource income in the most effective way, etc. It's just not fun, and the same shit every game.

HoMM2 and 3 can be fun if you don't do those things and play them like RPGs

Then the only way you're going to play is against easy AI, everyone who's not a newbie will demolish you. This game is still very popular in my country so that's how I know.

Of course, you can't escape minmaxing and metagaming when playing with people.

Codex+ Now Streaming!
a lot of folks here, myself being one of them, like a niche subsection of a niche, and really want the overall quality of a AAA (graphics, QoL shit, so on) but not to sacrifice the mechanics that would scare away most people.

also, most of the motherfuckers on this forum are going to buy and play bg3 and bitch the entire time they enjoy it.

We need more RPG that offer a non-binary choice at character creation.

Saying D&D system is great is like saying WH40k is an elegant strategy game or that MtG is a good card game.
It means that either it was your first one and you are blinded by nostalgia, or you have never played anything else.

Kotor has to be one of the most boring crpg i did play (the first 2-3 hours of the game at most). Maybe the lore and grafix are kind of bearable if you like the franchise, but i don't know, everytime i tried this game it felt hyper extremely boring

I would add that Kotor 1 is now prohibitively hard to get running properly. No matter where you go or what you do, you must accept compromises with Kotor 1. It's to the point I have no desire to play it.

Kotor 2, surprisingly, runs well on all hardware, including my phone. That said, Peragus has Taris beat on boredome. The first six hours of K2 are demonstrably worse than K1's.
