Scrolling spam is unnecessary and that is why it was removed. Don't like it? Don't spam. Them's the breaks.
Again, deliberately misinterpreting what I said, to try steer the attention away from the fact, you first edited both posts to make them spam before you edited them to remove it

And that's meant to dissuade me from pointing out Ex is lying how?

Ave, I don't know what the fuck you're talking about so lay off the drugs, mmm-kay?

I snipped out the spam as I saw fit, and maybe Saint doesn't agree with editing stupid spam out, so I won't do that in the future, but that shit was taking up the whole scrollbar, so I removed it. Stop being a pussy and DEAL WITH IT.

I'm just saying things as happened. Your attempt to make me look bad is failing miserably, Ave. Next time don't fucking spam.

Why do you keep talking about editing the spam?

I'm obviously not talking about it, I even admit you edited out the spam, but you keep desperately coming back to it.

You edited in the spam, you edited out the spam.

Now, I know you'll reply with "I EDITED OUT THE SPAM, IT TOOK UP A WHOLE SCROLLBAR" while ignoring the fact I was never arguing that, I was arguing that you edited it in, in the first place.

Fez,

No thanks, if you are both that desperate for company, try and escort agency or a prostitute. Last thing I want to do is be kidnapped by a lunatic and raped in his screwy bunker with his sycophant. I'll send you some KY jelly instead.
That made my day, thanks :)

Or maybe there's a conspiracy and someone else, not Exitium, edited Ave's post so that he would blame Exitium.

Who is the kylpritt?

No, it's supposed to dissuade you for caring too much about you're saying on a forum where people wear a "Dumbfuck" title as a badge of honor.

Though, you should still probably take the dick out of your mouth...

Responsibilty for running a sucessful company goes to management

Responsibilty for running a company out of business goes to mismanagement

The People in charge have to be held accountable thats what they get paid big $$$ for

As cold as it may sound is that so hard to accept?

Isn't it obvious? The government is behind all this. Exitium is actually the Cigarette Smoking Man, and the Codex is just a false front. Beware! They want to take over the world!

The truth is out there, Avè.

Surlent, maybe you can convince the PTB's to implement an SA style donate4tag system.

That they were laid off in the same month the game was released is a good indicator of evidence of such assumptions. If they got paid for the final build, then they should have had several months worth of cash from that.
sorry ex, but this isn't evidence. it's baseless conjecture. if a company has only ONE project running and enough people for two, and proven inability to sell lots of games, likely any find "milestone" payments just weren't enough. particularly if they were cut in on royalties for titles sold.

That kind of thing happens a lot when you have a small development house and a huge publisher.
uh, no. we'd be hearing about lawsuits if that were the case. the facts are that none of troika's titles made it big. "more than HotU" probably equates to 250,000 and that was probably their biggest seller. in seven years of operation, having sold probably less than half a million boxes total, i'd say their last milestone was enough to pay the bills, hire a lawyer and give people some severance...

It's just some speculation Saint and I came up with earlier. At this point, there's no statements, so there's nothing to go on but deductive reasoning.

Because it is much more fun to speculate than wait. Duh.

Where would we be without sensationalism?

State sensationalism.

Most of the rest of us have both.

Registered to say how sad I'll be to see Troika go. The games might not have been perfect, but they were great fun and, at least IMHO, better then almost every thing else put out under the RPG label recently.

R.I.P. Troika. You're in gaming heaven now, with Looking Glass, and Ion Storm, Origin, Black Isle, and many others. :(

::sigh::

Perhaps with a little luck the founders might try to take the Spiderweb software route, and turn out some cool, low-budget, old-school RPGs. I think that sort of development is where most niche genre's are headed in the near future.

I'd love to see someone take a page from companies like Battlefront or Matrix Games and do for old-fashioned RPGs what they've helped do for wargames. They might not be able to have cutting edge graphics with OMFG pixel shaders, but I think a niche RPG company in that style could do as well or better then the wargame ones. (As much as I love wargames, I must admit that RPGs seem to have a wider appeal.)

Think how great that would be, without having to go through massive publishers. Non traditional gaming worlds, solid turn based only combat...

Wait does that mean Exitium's whole "I was right!" spiel has yet to be confirmed? Oh wait, it doesn't matter, he'll still claim it anyway for the time being.

Not sure how it could be good news, though. Hard to make games without employees, computers, or furniture.

The only thing that pops to mind is that maybe the name Troika has been sold to some publisher as a label to put on games like Black Isle and thus still 'exists' and somehow, technically, isn't closed.

But, hey, I'm open to being pleasantly suprised. ;)

Flintligin, here's an example where it could still be good news: They found a publisher that accepted their post apocalyptic game idea and they are waiting for the deal to fully go through before posting on the status of Troika. Then they can start hiring talent as needed to start actually creating the game. They might not want to comment too early for fear of screwing the pooch.

At first glance, I thought it was the planned perk list to FO3, well at least until I noticed Activision, Sony, etc...

Ha, and there is no luck involved? I have started two companies, and I know better than that. One backstabbing customer or lawsuit or dry spell and it is game over in the software world.

It is different to run a business when the industry is in an upswing than when it is practically dying.
