Yep. I an using my 9mm and .44 sidearm to kill most things and reserving my psi powers to hard creatures. And Tigranes, I can have 500 reserve and costs 850 to refill it. So far, my unique critique towards the game is the cooldowns. everything else seems amazing.

I don't wanna go full meta. Just wanna know the basics of crafting. IDK even how craft a basic item. Just checked guides to learn psionics early on. Din't read much info about it and IDK which are the strongest psionics to learn. Honestly, the unique game flaw is cooldowns on everything. I honestly loved how much ammo variety you can use only for a crossbow. Also was loving the .44 magnum revolver but ran out of ammo and since 9mm ammo is cheaper, is now using a 9mm pistol.

Basics are learn blueprint, put components into crafting window.

Until you finish the prologue (depot A) you won't find any psionic mentors (baring extreme cases in the random dungeon), so there are just the 4 trainers.

CDs are needed for balance, there isn't really another lever to pull in TB combat. Without cooldowns the variety of abilities would be severely constrained.

Pasquale made my a psion and the tutorial and Quinton teached cytokinesis to me after I've used a special dart to kill a dungeon rat. As for cooldowns, they are a nonsensical rule. I throw a grenade. Why I need to wait 5 turns to throw again but can use my pyrokinesis which has a similar effect? For me, having a good consistency of game rules and game lore is more interesting than "balance". In fact, would be cool if psionics could be dangerous and using pyrokinesis too often instead of a artificial cooldown, could blow up in your own hands.

As for the price, I was thinking that the price was 10x higher... Now I have a small fortune(for early game standards)

Underrail combat features very high lethality, abilities and special attacks are very powerful; on DOM you can encounter people with 2-3k of HP and still, you can kill them in one turn if your build is good. Without CD the obvious choice would be to tone down the power of abilities, so the game won't become too easy, but this will turn the game into a non-stop sponge-fest, and we don't want that, innit?

The raiders in the quest about opening the GMS compound was quite hard. I managed to kill then by taking one by one and my main build is a psion with a .44 magnum sidearm. .44 magnum revolver deals a lot of damage and doesn't require much stats or skills to be used. The 8.6mm AR which the raider leader dropped deals a lot of damage, but requires 35 guns and 6 STR which doesn't worth IMO. I an using firearms to shot cameras, and near dead enemies saving my PSI points. Now an lv 6 and an having a lot of fun. This game is so great.

The .44 magnum "hammerer" revolver is also decent against robots, which takes no damage from my cyromancy, I had to go back to the "city" to buy EMP grenades and honestly, still believe that the game would be better if din't had cooldowns. I trowed a HE grenade against the bots, instead of another EMP because the game forced me to use the less effective strategy. This is bad IMO.

For the start of the game, I tend to do the opposite - use psi to kill stuff to conserve ammo.

Find or design a TB a game like Underrail without cooldowns and balance it so combat isn't shit. Once you do that, then your anti-cooldown stance will have a leg to stand on.

Not like underrail, but earlier Might & Magic games, Dark Sun, ToEE... And again, balance is overrated. What is the most balanced D&D edition? 4e. They scarified too much consistency of lore and mechanics for the sake of balance. And I din't said "UnderRail has cooldowns, so is bad", I said "UnderRail has cooldowns, and this is a thing which I din't liked", However, the quest design is perfect. The scenario design is perfect. The encounter design is perfect. The ammo system where you can "load a single bullet" is perfect.

I just wish that the game had more dangerous psionics instead of psionics on cooldowns and that the game had more "exotic" ammo, like dragon breath rounds for shotguns, slugs, slugs armor piercing, .50 bmg explosive, 50 bmg incendiary, etc.

Eh, don't like M&M games or Dark Sun, and haven't tried ToEE, but whatever, glad you're enjoying the game.

There are different Psionics that are more dangerous, you'll unlock as you advance into the game. As for exotic ammo, there are exotic rounds you can unlock later in the game through crafting, and Crossbow builds have like 10-20 different types of bolts you can use that can be enhanced through chemicals and technology.

Is the expansion worth it? I'm currently finished with all quests in the foundry, all I know that the expansion starts in the mid game.

If I bought the expansion, can I access through my current save or do I need to start a new game?

Yes absolutely several times over. Pretty sure old saves are compatible, though a restart might be temptin' to build a character 'round all the feats and stuffs it adds. (Which are great by the way.)

Advisable level for startin' the Expedition is 13-15 abouts, it's no joke.

Only got my first energy weapon now. It deals 18-28 Energy + 18-28 heat damage, which is greater than my .44 magnum revover, however, energy weapons run out of energy really fast. Since my cyro psi abilities are awful against robots, this sidearm is IMO better than my .44 magnum and I honestly loved how underrail seems to implement energy weapons. Laser ones are the "fastest" and the most accurate, however, the low damage ones. Plasma is similar to large caliber firearms but produce plasma require a lot of energy, so after few shots you need to "recharge". Electricity pistol is the "in between" however, electricity is rarely resisted.

I an building a cryomancer, which has some other types of psionics, but focus on cyrostasis and cyrokinesis. My stats are
STR = 3
DEX = 3
AGI = 4 (5 with equip bonus)
CON = 6
PER = 5
Will = 11
INT = 10

Lv = 10

Cryokinesis is dealing 29~48 cold + 21~33 mechanical damage. Underrail did such a amazing job with firearms, this is clearly one of the best RPG's ever.

Oh, there it is. I was really wondering why he's playing any game that doesn't have dragons.

You got to hand it to him, he just wants every single game to let you ride dragons and breath fire, even Princess Maker.

Not truth. I play a lot of non fantasy games, RPG's or not... I just think that dragons are cool like a BF 110 is cool IRL. And yes, UR should have vehicles and vehicle combat + vehicle customization.

PS : I fell more like a technomancer in underrail than on "the technomancer" video game... And psionics aren't meant to be technomancy
