You obviously never played an RPG Maker game, else you'd know how clunky that engine is.
The game doesn't play how it looks.
I strictly meant the look of the game. I like the graphics and aesthetics.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Yeah, it's a solid third party asset pack. None of this was made by the dev btw. I've seen these exact same assets used in other RPG Maker games. They're very easy to implement, after all. Still gonna play clunky as hell, most likely.
The worthy RPG Maker games can be counted on one hand. Only Fear & Hunger and Corrosive Studios games come to mind.

If you like jRPGs there are some (though like with most things 90% of them are garbage), but games made to look like western cRPGs via RPG Maker always look like shovelware

Isn't Helen's Mysterious Castle rpgmaker? That's one of the best indepdenet JRPGs ever made.

Never heard about this one, but from the screenshots on Steam you can see some basic RPG maker assets, so yes

Tencent is doing something.

The game is a post-apocalyptic scif-i futuristic open world survival action RPG co-op multiplayer with crafting, robots and dinosaurs that will remind you a lot of the Horizon franchise and Once Human.

Pre-lawsuit footage. Nope. It's Tencent.

Are games like this just really easy to make or something? I feel like in the last year there's been a dozen forgettable 3d turn-based tactics games (nu-xcom-likes, to call a spade a spade) from no-name studios.

I think it's a system that's easy to understand and likely (not a programmer) relatively easy to program because of that fairly straightforward nature.

2 types of actions, move or shoot. Can't shoot before you move. A percentage chance to hit and an RNG (or flat) damage number on successful attack. Cover/half cover changing hit chance and possibly damage. Done with base mechanics.

Banned? Not that i'm necessarily doubting the information but more confused than anything, how do you even ban a game on steam when so many NSFW games are there, as well as the likes of 'hentai hitler' etc are still up? It seems to me it is more likely the devs just decided not to release it on steam at all and cancelled the release themselves.
